I can't imagine how hard it is to find tires that handle pavement as well as gravel and sand. Sounds like you have found the right stuff for your application.
@@The-virg actually the original 4 place A model needed the gear legs modified to fit these because the end part wasn't tapered like on later kits. I have the same setup on my 4 place.
Is the Desser 850 you showed on that trike Cessna on a 10” rim? I want the D-31 setup you have on my Bearhawk Patrol. But I want to wear out a set of smaller (Ike 850) tires first, since I have little tail wheel time. It looks like the 10” rims will do both. Perfect! Did you get a package with tires, brakes, rims? Source?
The tires are best to get straight from dessers website. Or Oshkosh. I got a pair of 31s for 1400 on a show special. The wheels are harder to get. Call grove and get on the list they wait until they have a list of people then they make an batch. There are other places to get 10in wheels but they are not tubless. We will be running a 8:50-10 a lot of the time. I think it’s a great setup.
@@Austinmediainc drag is linear so will very on each airplane but I expect on this bearhawk to see about 5-8 mph penalty in cruise. Or trade another .5 gallon per hour.
Their wheels have a weight limit of 2500lbs this airplane is 3000 gross so you have to go to a Pilatus porter wheel kit which is like $18k. Their wheel also does not fit a standard 1.5in axle. It is a tapered design.
@@The-virg Thank you for replying. I've seen some agricultural tires being mounted on dirt drag bikes and it looks awesome so I was wondering if mounting some big fat bush air tires on a bike wouldn't be fun 😊 Fly safe.
That was actually quite helpful. Thanks for posting.
Really looking forward to your flying review of the Dessers.

following these
I hope you do a video discussing “why the bearhawk 5?”
I’ll add that to the list. 👍🏼
Cuz 1450lb useful load, and taking off and landing in 700ft at max gross =)
Did you have to modify the gear leg at all for this setup?
No gear leg mods necessary on newer bearhawk kits. Just drill the holes for the torque plates. 👍🏼

That 8:50 I showed was on a 6in rim. Those are honestly great tires that will take you almost anywhere most people go.
@@The-virg what do you think the speed penalty is from the smallest Desser (22?) you showed to the 31?

Any idea on difference in weight between the Bush Wheel and Dresser setups?
Should be roughly 15 pounds lighter. A mounted desser weighs 41 Ibs
@@The-virg Nice!
So is this desser outfit for real? Every tire I look up on their website says "sold out". If they don't have any tires to sell, what's the point?
They are great tires. Not sure why there website always says out of stock but spruce usually has them.
Interesting that you dog on the 8" and thats the one I'm looking at lol
Nothing wrong with them, but 8in wheels are not very common.
@@The-virg All the early Kitfoxes came with 8" wheels, so I suppose that is partly where that market for 8" tires comes from. Thanks for the video.
Doesn’t beranger make a 10” wheel for these tires

@@The-virg Isn't that 2500lbs per wheel? So 5000lbs total? I'm not sure.
@@marcericdavis I stopped by there booth at osh and was told 2500 gross. 1250 per wheel.
Can these be mounted on motorcycles ? Can they lean ? How long would they last ? Thanks
Probably not a good tire for motorcycles. To soft and requires a 10in rim

Would not hold up on a bike, totally different stresses.
