  • Vladivostok is the capital city of Russian Far East. The incredible diversity of nature within city limits inspired me to explore remote areas of Vladivostok. I challenged me to get to one of the islands of Vladivostok Archipelago without using a boat, visiting various places of interest along my way.

    I have so much respect for you and others who just bum around and see the world. Half of me yearns for it.. I've backpacked and love hiking/exploring. But it's so easy to let ones world grow small, and to not stray far from home.

      Yeah very true. I wrote a comment explaining that I stupidly turned down a chance to travel to Russia in the early 90s , I was hitchhiking around Europe at the time, I'll always have that regret. These videos are really good though.

    This is the first time I have ever seen any images of Vladivostok I have heard about it and met many people from Vladivostok who describe the city and the area. One day when wars are over I would like to see it. Could you do a man on the street interview asking the people of Vladivostok how they feel about the war in Ukrainia? I think being so far from Moscow the average person might be able to more freely express their opinions. Man my dream is to take a few years and travel across Russia one day. 👍🏻❤️
    Is it true that they are giving away free land to Russian in the Far East regions around Magadan?

    • @RandomPerson-wp3ql
      @RandomPerson-wp3ql 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, but....But climate and infrastructure in places where this program works are usually so poor, that only a very few people moving there. I mean it is usually much more convenient and often even cheaper to by land in rural areas in central Russia with more or less developed infrastructure and more or less good climate, than get 1 hectare (around 2.5 acres) per family member for free in far east and put a lot of money to fly there, by car to get to there, think about individual heating, electricity and internet connection, how to deliver building materials and so on.... All of that can be difficult or expensive in the Russian wild wild east

    • @Acoustrics
      @Acoustrics 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RandomPerson-wp3ql yes this is all very true. I guess with places like Sakhalin it’s even worse as everything had to be flown in? Perhaps the Russian government should be trying to repopulate these areas with more businessman and less farmers? It seems like such a waste, all that green land.. At least crime is relatively low and some places have access to roads. No internet is a big drawback for any investor..

    • @RandomPerson-wp3ql
      @RandomPerson-wp3ql 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Acoustrics well, living in such remote area means almost everything is imported and therefore considerably more expensive. Also it is quite hard for most farming because of the climate. For some other busyness i think main problem is low population density. It is really good place i guess only for people who really like cold climate and wilderness, not afraid of related complications and want to live on land like 100 years ago. Or work remotely via Starlink)
      Though now everything will became even more difficult for people thought the whole country including far east, considering what political insanity we have right now. When instead of developing the country, as it first goal, apparently president think that trying to recreate USSR 2.0 (which basically no one want) or something similar by ANY COST is much more important. And basically no other opinion is allowed unless you want to go to jail for up to 15 years.... Which is scary.... I like my country (nature, some part of people) but current situation makes me want to live it right now and to live in some reasonable place, but it is close to impossible if you have not enough of money, and now you have only half of that. And of course main reason is fear what can happen next.
      I hope this pointless insanity will end as quickly as possible...

    • @Acoustrics
      @Acoustrics 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RandomPerson-wp3ql Dude I feel for you seriously I think these sanctions are going to be bad however things will get better. The big problem here is that the West also refuse to see the facts on the ground. Places like Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Transnistria, Donbas, Odessa and countless other places in all the former Soviet areas with overwhelmingly Russian populations - these places are in a strange limbo state where they do not exist and the people there obviously want to join Russia or at least be independent and aligned to Russia. In other words we in the west cannot blame Russia for wanting to protect Russians in those countries who are being screwed or who are asking for help.
      The West refuse to understand this. That is their problem and that is why this thing is difficult to resolve. The West also don’t want to acknowledge this because they are interested in controlling many of these places for oil etc. I’m sorry but NATO is not innocent and have also created chaos around the world. Still, they are playing chess and this thing will blow over. But yes it sux for Russians because it will impact imports however I have a strange feeling your government may have prepared for this in some way.
      Bro, I’m not even from Europe or Russia - I just find the region really interesting and I’ve been looking for somewhere with a cold climate to invest in, just to have some property and a holiday house. Problem is as you say getting there..
      The other thing that’s cool about Russia is your low crime rate. Sure there are drug or alcohol related crimes but there is no hard core murder like we have in South Africa. It is culturally European and that will always be a plus. Things will settle down though eventually if that I am sure. I just hope the West is not dumb enough to attack and Russian area..

      why he cant? its not him who started war, its not him who started maidan, and dombass genocide. also even today 8 days after comment, even pro western sources say that around 5k russian fell in denazification of ukraine east part. where you got numbers of 13k? also what is this witch hunt? he is a person who minds his own buisness as you should. everyone has its position on war and right to express it or stay neutral. dont like this channel unsubscribe and follow people who feed you "pray for ukraine" stories every day. here we are fans of russian urban/nature exploration. gtfo if you dont like it.

      Ha, ha. Hell no. North Korea is much worse. Stalinist regime there has zero sense of humour or idea of fun.
