Ethan’s Journal: Chinatown New Year Market @ 2025.01.28

On Lunar New Year's Eve, we started the day by putting up spring couplets, filling our home with a festive atmosphere. Ethan’s school held a "Welcome the New Year" event, and Dad participated as a parent volunteer (PV). He was assigned to help in the P2 Teamwork class, as parents were not allowed to assist in their own child's class.
After school, Ethan and Jacob headed to Chinatown. They first enjoyed a Chinese cold dish lunch at the hawker center, eating happily. Then, we navigated through the bustling New Year market. Ethan handled the lively environment well, walking in an orderly manner without bumping into others. With reminders, he even held hands with Jacob. After sampling some treats, the brothers chose to buy Taiwanese fruit jelly for the New Year. Jacob also thoughtfully picked out a bouquet of festive flowers for Mom.
Next, we took a bus to our old home in Tiong Bahru to collect mail. While waiting at the bus stop, Ethan and Jacob played around, chasing each other and laughing.
At 6:30 PM, we gathered around the table for our reunion dinner. We started with Lo Hei (prosperity toss), adding abalone slices for extra flavor, which the brothers loved. The meal featured four dishes and one soup:
Prosperity Platter - Roast meat combination
Abundance Every Year - Braised whole fish
Fiery Fortune - Stir-fried shrimp with red peppers
Green Blessings - Stir-fried choy sum with garlic
Golden Rooster’s Blessing - Mushroom chicken soup
After dinner, we watched the Spring Festival Gala together. The brothers stayed up until midnight to welcome the Lunar New Year.
江江记事：牛车水 年货集市 @ 2025.01.28
农历除夕，一早起床贴春联，家里洋溢着迎新年的气氛。学校举办“迎新年”活动，爸爸作为家长志愿者（PV）被分配到 P2TW 班级帮忙。学校规定家长不能去自己孩子的班级。
放学后，江江和东东前往牛车水，先在熟食中心享用中式凉菜午餐，兄弟俩吃得很开心。随后，我们在人潮汹涌的牛车水年货集市穿行，江江在这样的热闹环境中表现不错，能有序前行，没有冲撞别人，还能在提醒下与东东牵手。兄弟俩试吃后买了年货台湾果冻，东东还特意为妈妈挑选了一束年花。
接着，搭巴士前往中峇鲁的旧家取信件，东东和江江逗趣着，在巴士站等车时追逐玩耍。
晚上 6:30，围坐餐桌，开始年夜饭。首先是“步步高升”捞鱼生，特别加了鲍鱼片，兄弟俩很喜欢。接着是丰盛的四菜一汤：锦绣多彩--烧腊拼盘，年年有余--红烧全鱼，红红火火--红椒虾仁，绿意盎然--蒜葱菜心，金鸡报喜--香菇鸡汤
饭后，一起观看春晚，兄弟俩坚持守岁到午夜 12 点，迎接农历新年的到来。
