Interesting perspective. I think she overstates Cambridge Analytica's impact. I'm an Indo-Trinidadian and her image of indian/afro youth is gross over simplification. while there are racial affinities, both indo/afro youth are impacted by the same culture/education etc and have similiar outlooks, including the rebelliousness against parents/authority.
More important was the widespread unpopularity of the incumbent PNM who just lost a high profile cabinet member, was embroiled in corruption allegations and had a mysterious 'prophetess' advising him.
    IT WAS NOT VOTER SUPPRESSION

The latter number had probably risen by the outbreak of the War of Spanish Succession.By 1702 the settlement had trading post on the Demerara river, the Mahiaca creek, the Pomeroon and Moruka ,and high up the Guyuni . The attack on kykoveral came on 18 October 1708 ,when three French privateers sailed up the Essequibo , burning and plundering as they went. Van der Heyden Resen, the Commander of kykoveral at this time ,refused , probably rightly ,to sally Fort from his fort to meet the enemy ,arguing that it was his first duty to hold the fort and so hold the colony .The planters pleaded with him to distribute the soldiers to the various plantations in order to fight the buccaneers ; but van der Heyden contented that his little force of about fifty men was too small to be scattered in this way .While this controversy was raging ,the privateers appeared off Bartica, which was then Plantation Vryheid .

    35:30 _ This isn't the whole story.
Disparate issues coalesced to swing that election. Mostly, there started to be steady and growing concern over corruption and wasted tax-dollars on government-funded construction projects (the most infamous of which was Las Alturas).
Circumstance played a role as the global economic issues rippling out from the US (housing bubble collapse of 2008) caused hardships and retrenchments here, reduced employment, added economic pressure on the populace, which then translated into political pressure (as economic issues always do).
An ill-timed desire to introduce property taxes during the economic challenges put many of the older would-be voters off (ie, ones who would have owned property), meanwhile younger voters were concerned about the environmental ramifications of the then Prime Minister's controversial smelter plant drive.
From every direction at that time, there was discontent. The 'Do So' campaign had a lot to work with. and it's very likely that election would have swung regardless, solely due to the economic woes and corruption concerns.

The truth about the beginning of this territory controversy.
In 1822, more than two hundred years ago, in the dominions of Venezuela, which was then part of the Republic of Colombia, the presence of English settlers was detected, who occupied Demerara and Berbice near the Essequibo River, beyond the territories that belonged to the United Kingdom under the provisions of the Treaty of London of 13 August 1814.The territory that Holland had ceded to the United Kingdom by said Treaty consisted of the camps of Demerara, Berbice and Essequibo, made up of a geographic space of no more than 32,186 square kilometres, which Holland had acquired from Spain through the Treaty of Münster of 1648. The territories ceded by Spain to Holland and, later, to the United Kingdom, never extended beyond the eastern margin of the Essequibo River.
At the same time, beginning in 1822, efforts were made to get the British to agree to the establishment of a demarcation line between British Guiana and Colombia. However, this did not happen and, on the contrary, in 1840, the United Kingdom unilaterally drew a demarcation line that unfairly added to its territory an area of 141,930 square kilometres of Venezuelan nation, starting from the mouth of the Amacuro River and running north-south as far as the Roraima River, and this is precisely the origin of the controversy. From then on, the United Kingdom began to expand into the territory of the Essequibo...
In 1887, during the third government of Antonio Guzmán Blanco, on the occasion of the discovery of gold deposits, the United Kingdom considered, again unilaterally, that the border with Venezuela consisted of a line drawn from the coast to Upata, thus usurping 203,310 square kilometres of territory belonging to Venezuela.
The incursion of settlers from Demerara and Berbice to the west of the Essequibo River, the maps unilaterally drawn up by the United Kingdom, and the United Kingdom’s violations of the sovereignty of Venezuela’s territory were always rejected by Venezuela.
Years later, as a result of pressure from the United States of America, the United Kingdom finally agreed to submit the controversy to arbitration, which took place on 3 October 1899, when the Paris Award was issued, whereby 159,500 square kilometres were awarded to the United Kingdom, significantly more than the territory ceded by Holland to the United Kingdom, through the aforementioned Treaty of London of 13 August 1814.
The Paris Award was the product of a procedural farce. It is null and void because of the multiple direct violations of the Washington Treaty of 1897 and the international law in force at the time it was rendered, and also because it violated due process; had the flaw of arbitrators exceeding their powers; decided beyond what was required of the arbitral tribunal and, consequently, ruled ultra petita; lacked the required reasoning, and, furthermore, the arbitrators did not comply with their duty of impartiality.
As a first objective approximation and introduction to this issue; By the Treaty of London of 13 August 1814, the United Kingdom acquired the Dutch settlements of Berbice, Demerara and Essequibo east of the Essequibo River, which Holland had acquired from Spain by the Treaty of Münster of 24 October 1648. All these camps were east of the Essequibo River. Thus, all territories west of the Essequibo River have always belonged to Venezuela.

We was joined into Caricom; but we are the only English speaking Country in South America. Now I wish that someone would step up to the plate about the political craziness that is going on in Guyana. How is it? Jagdeo was a President, served his term and now he is the Prime Minister for Guyana?? Something is very, very wrong there. If Guyana have oil, why is Guyana having " Power outage every day, seven days a week. Where is the money to fix that??? Over 62 years Guyana is having power outage aka(Blackout) and it is the tear; 2023 and it is getting worst?? Why is there so many ," Racial killing of Black Young Men" and Black People are threated like ,"DOGS". Check out the corruption with the Present Party. I am not looking at the racial things, but both Black and Indians are suffering. Let me make it known that my Great- grand father is Indian. We need more fairness and a new Government. He doesn't know the extreme basic question of why Russia has an interest in Guyana. ....Its in the political history of the country. Both of the main leaders in Guyana were socialists. Both of them pursued socialism in the 50s to 60s and in the 70s Guyana was emulating socialist economic policies.
