- On November 3, 2020, Mississippi voters finally adopted a state flag that represents the diversity of the state.

For 126 years, Mississippi’s state flag prominently featured the Confederate battle emblem in its design. That emblem is the most enduring and recognizable symbol of the American Civil War, a four-year conflict in which Southern states fought to preserve slavery in the United States.
Since then, the symbol has been used as a banner of Southern pride but is also widely used by white supremacists to honor a time when Black Americans were enslaved. Activists in Mississippi have protested the state flag for decades, and it almost changed in 2001, when an alternative design was presented but failed to get enough votes to replace the old one.
After the 2015 massacre of nine Black churchgoers in South Carolina and the uprising in 2020 in response to the murder of George Floyd, Mississippi’s legislature finally abolished the state flag bearing the Confederate emblem. On November 3, 2020, Mississippi voters approved a new flag design that’s more inclusive and reflective of the people across the state.

Confederacy lost the war. What "southern pride" Are they talking about?
The pride they had was that they were able to enslave another race. Make no mistake when they say “Make America Great Again” this is exactly what they mean. Deep Red Mississippi actually voted to legalize medical marijuana and voted to end their state electoral college that day too.
Change comes eventually, though slowly in that state. Glad it's positive change.

E pluribus unum was adopted by Congress for the seal of the United States in 1782 and became the defacto motto until July 30, 1956 during the Red Scare when Eisenhower signed it into law. The same legislation mandated its appearance on all US currency (it had been on some prior to but was not required).

I’m a half Japanese Mississippi resident! I’m so proud of us for changing it but we still need to work towards removing the confederacy from idolization in our country. There are more things to be proud of as a southerner like the hospitality and our food than a war to keep an immoral institution

Slavery was the bedrock of the south. Unlike the north, the south didn’t have fancy industries and wasn’t in an industrial revolution. The slaves were their bedrock. When that was taken away, the south faced economic downfall. They managed to recover today, and now the horrors of racism are ending, but at what cost? Post-Civil War south was chaos!
Also to any people who say its about “culture”, the confederacy only lasted for 4 years. and those 4 years were only the Civil War.
Sometimes even few days can drastically alter history and culture.
And those 4 years are the watershed years in American history. The confederacy was a part of those years. Virginia predates the US by oh around 2 centuries.

@@PlaywrightLorde Flowers do not always represent softness. The iconic English war was fought between houses of roses. The imperial French and Quebec uses a stylized flower on their flags. The Japanese imperial emblem is a flower, whose monarch many people swore to protect. The meaning of a flower follows its context and I think Mississippi's one did it nicely.
I just wish it was simpler and not so detailed.

It has it's own political history, It isn't the official motto of the U.S., and the goverment isn't supposed to favor any religious belifes over any other (that includes lack there of). The founding fathers may have been desists but they were firmly for seperation of church and state.
The only reason we have it was because it was added later durring the cold war and just as I am against the goverment favoring atheists and persecuting theists I am also against the opposite.
The goverment should be secular end of story not have religious ceremonies make it defacto Christian.

@@pol1315I consider the original version and Deluxe to be the same thing. I mean, there are some significant changes (new characters, new battle modes, new turbo and so on). But the core game is the same.
