However we have Shakespeares today... it is just our society bringing them down. They are making their own words yet people call them a copycat of Shakespeare. Sad.
This is the play I cannot forget ever..I cannot the dreamy feelings I had while i reading it for the first time..then I was a child..but still today whenever I feel low or deppressed I always open up this book..reading it in the soothing candlelight will definitely heal you always😊😊 Thanks a lot Ted Ed..for choosing this play and for sharing the magic of this play with the world..you guys are amazing😊😊
I seen versions of Midsummer Night Dream that are high Comedy. I seen a version that was much darker with the Fairies being almost Horror Monsters. It a wonderful play and every different performance has a different take on it. This make each time you see a different group do the play , it feels like it a new story.
Wow, the animation is absolutely amazing in this video. The time when Shakespeare was controlling the characters and with the eyes reddened by the flower’s juice was amazing
THANK YOU for having the characters be dressed as Ancient Greeks! Everyone dressed them in Elizabethan costumes and up. They always forget that it takes place in Ancient Greece.
My favorite part is still the one where the characters roasting the troupes play. I believe that's Shakespeare way to poke fun at his audience who comments or roasted his play when they watched it
I remember reading this for English Literature a few years ago. Just today we were discussing about our school play, and we wanted to do Shakespeare. Macbeth was off limits as the Y11s are doing it for school and they would kill us, so I suggested A Midsummer Nights Dream. Feels so apt since it's one of the most hilarious Shakespeare plays. Although Taming of the Shrew is also hilarious.
This would’ve made reading this in class easier. Most of my class didn’t get it, and I got more out of this video than that whole semester. Thanks Ted Ed!
I've been reading the play script since I was a girl, but now the confusion theme has made me enlightened on what the story really means. Such a profound work.
one of the best shakespeare works, in my opinion. there are many subpar plays written by him that i’m not personally a fan of, but midsummer night’s dream is a true treat to watch on the stage.
I really don't get how you guys keep offering different astonishing animation styles.. And topics ofc. For someone who's always dreamed to be a designer like me this channel is like a dream.
I started to read the play after I finished reading Macbeth, but then stopped for some reason. Today I was trying to search for motivation to read, thanks for this video Ted Ed. Always amazing animations and story telling, keep it up
I adored this book as a little girl... in almost 10 years, I have never forgot dancing down the road of the unstable emotion, led by Shakespeare's hand into the very heart of his imagination, being the 'book-hidden' spectator of such strange and hushed events and amused by the awkward humor of such atypical conversations and insults.
Wonderful! I love these videos! Yes, I did read "Dream" first, in High School (on my own, by the way!) and then saw it when a friend appeared in it on stage. It plays like an episode of "Bewitched" by way of Greek Mythology.
Bravo 🙌 thanks Ted Ed for providing such a beautifully way of explaining that story! I've only watched the play at an outdoor park in Los Feliz, Los Angeles CA maybe 5 years ago and I've attempted reading the story soon after seeing the performance. Neither those experiences awakened any clarity of appreciating this Shakespeare piece as y'all have done. Bravo and I look forward to more of these videos 💛
I love these series. Some of the recommendations are a surprise. Books that I have never heard or read anything about them, wich is perfect because I like to read all types of books.
Before I ever heard of this book I actually thought of the last quote saying that dreams are reality and reality is a dream . Its good to know that others have thought of this
I played the part where Puck tricks everyone with his cleverness in 8th grade. He was my favorite. I also feel bad Helena would always be chasing ppl that don’t like her back
I was Peter Quince for a read along in high school for a class. My teacher loved my performance, said it matched my character. I even had to say Puck’s final words for my finals.
I love A Midsummer's Night's Dream. It's my favorite of all his plays I have read. I still have the copy I bought for my English class back in college. As part of the class, with had to perform a scene from one of the plays we've read. I did Bottom, after he had awoke from his night in the woods.
@@geralferald Yes, Shakespeare is very hard to read. And English is not even my native language, so it is even more hard for me to read. But if you watch a summary of the plays with quotes and stuff, then you get to understand his plays more. And if you watch a play instead of just reading it, it also helps you to understand it more. If you get his plays though, they are something wonderful to read.
This is officially my favorite Shakespeare Ted talk video. ❤ It's seem like I already now the ehole story before I even get the chance to read in for English class! 🎉
I remember performing this play in an acting camp, It was the same but aliens instead of fairies and a few names were changed, I was Titania ( Her name was changed to Fétiana ), and she fell in love with a human in the play Also there was around 9 songs and routines we had to learn in the span of 10 days
I remember when I was in 7th grade, the teacher made us do a play, there was only 1 girl in our class so I ended up playing Hermia (I am male). It was akward but fun at the same time.
The question mark in the video title should be outside of the quotations. When it's on the inside, it makes it look like the question mark is part of the story title.
Is it coincidence that we're rehearsing for this play when TedEd posted this? I think not. (I should also add that our version of AMND is translated to our local dialect and that it is a musical.)
I recently played Puck in a play of Midsummer Night’s Dream. We even used Shakespearean language. I HAD SO MANY MONOLOUGES. The last one was quite fun to perform.
I would love to see you give this treatment to 'the curious incident of the dog in the night-time'. The way the book is written alone will make for some great visuals.
I love how the characters have big
arms yet very tiny hands.
BABY HANDS 👐
The feet too.
But why? 🤔
This is after Trump's presidency...only his descendants are allowed to live
Oh yeah lol
These videos are five minute mind trips. Thank you!

I just now realized how heavily this inspired the plot of Barbie a Fairy Secret
Same here.
LMFAO
NO. Shakespeare copied barbie
I played Puck in the school play when I was in 5th grade. I fell in love with this play and the character ever since.

This is amazing food for thought, thank you! Not to mention the engrossing animation
Though she be but little, she is fierce.

Love that Shakespeare quote!
TED Ed, please do for
"Much Ado About Nothing"
"As You Like It"
"The Merchant of Venice".
the animation is so... relaxing.
i love it on how TED-ed improves their animations, designs and how they retell the story or facts

These are so much more informative than the half-hearted lectures than my English teacher gives. Keep it up TED ED!!!
this has been my favourite Shakespeare play since 5th grade💕

Stunning animation, as if it was a dream, well done.
I haven't had the experience to read a single Shakespeare play and yet now Ted-ed had had me interested to read all of them.
I think I'm in love ... with the narrator here ... and many thanks for an excellent presentation!

Midsummer Night's Dream is my all time favorite play by Billy Shakespeare.🤩👍🎬🌺

Macbeth and A Midsummer Night's Dream were the only plays by Shakespeare that I really enjoyed reading.
