    You’re so close I would just take the body off the frame do it all the way. I have a friend of mine who redid a 7 L 428 66 galaxy he took the frame off it turned out beautiful . Best of luck 2u .

      Thats not happening. I took the car apart way farther then I expected to. I don't want to ruin the car, by making it to nice to drive. Plus that will add a lot of cost, and if I go over my budget, the car will sit unfinished. So it's finish the car on the frame, or not finish the car. I kinda want to finish it, so I can go cruising this comming summer in it.

    Hey kiddo
    When I was way way younger I restored cars your way, just was too young to dig as deep as you, never the less, if I ever have time to do this again, I’d do it just like you, very satisfying.

      I use to go down to the bare frame.... DOnt do that anymore, as it really docent make a huge difference in sale price, plus I am doing this car to be a cruiser.

    since the fender is going to get filler tack weld some sheet metal on the lower body line and pull down while tapping with a good body hammer. im restoring my 68 mustang cannot find 1157A amber front fender side markers bulbs and the 1142 rear backup bulbs. been to every auto parts store they never have these but always give me one that fit but wrong color & two filament bulbs when it should be one. i tell them (auto parts store kids) it's illegal to have white lights on the side panels. they don't understand at all. also they sold me 36" expensive ethanol resistant 1/4" fuel line for the distributor vacuum advance when it's suppose to be vacuum hose because "that's all we have". you have this problem?

    • @OldCarAlley
      @OldCarAlley  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 1157's are dual filament, "A"' means amber. They haven't been used on cars for a while, thats why they don't stock them anymore.... and why I buy them in estate sales. Same with the 1142, other than it's a single filament bulb. The big corporate auto parts stores pay minimum wage, so they get what they pay for. I try going to a old school independent stores, but there rapidly becoming a thing of the past too!

    Howard, Just an FYI... That Autolite Battery topper is correct for 1968 to 1970 cars. The correct Battery Topper for 1965 to 1967 would be here below. Also, The Red and White Battery Warning tag was never used... It appeared sometime for some unknown reason in the 1980's and most "Concours" people just don't use them or throw them out since they were never on the cars originally. Below is the weblink for the "Correct" 1966 Battery Topper. Tony K.

      Yes I realize that... but its close enough to make it look good. I got it for free, so I will use it. In reality none of the toppers are correct, as the car used a 27 series battery, not a 24 series battery.

      @@nefaurora Yea, we will call it a replacement battery from 1971.... that makes it a five year old car when the battery was replaced....

      @@nefaurora I did a little research. Ford use several different looking batteries, depending on the supplier. The cover like I have was used on some full size cars from 64 to 73. The yellow cap battery was used in some cars, but mostly used in Bronco's and F series pick up's. Ford used the 27 series battery in there full size car and F series truck line up, and the 24 in the smaller cars, like the Mustang. No one seems to make a cover for the 27 series battery. Guess the one I got will do the job of making it look a little more like an original battery. My dad's 72 Ford had the red cap 27 series battery when it was new. When he replaced the battery, he put the tag on the new battery, so it did use a tag... and I think that tag was still on the car when I sold it in 2005. I don't know if I will use the tag. It kinda takes away from the nice look of the topper.... we will see.
