Potatoe if you want a bird predator like that it needs migratory patterns and the herbivores got bigger because there was a lot of food and no predators.
Oh, no way! I remember when the devs used to post videos of this game a little while ago and was real intrigued where it was going. SUPER excited to see where you take this one.
@@theultimatekiwihe only posts dev vlogs so his content is restricted to when he releases updates plus he makes the game alone so he doesn’t have time to make videos all the time
@Chicken4L1fe no you can’t, not sure if you ever will to be honest - it’s more of a simulator than anything. Spore or Adapt do that pretty well though :)
Looks like the potato that evolved disappeared. What are those red things that look like sea cucumbers with teeth on the side? They appear on land and water.
I wonder if the plants might've de-evolved leaves to protect themselves from the herbivores...? That'd definitely be one solution to having so many herbivores around...
Fish can evolve legs technically and a mouth that will allow for breathing better on land. Currently Algae cannot evolve into land plants to my knowledge, although that may be a feature in the future. There is going to be a big update in about 8 days that will add a bunch more content, so looking forward to doing a new video showing off the new features soon!
It is just like in real life. Complex organisms tend to mutate more because theyre constantly figuring out how to adapt and survive against the odds or die. Simple organisms just slow envolve cause they’re not pressured to do so. Thats why the fishes got the same the whole patch, cause their food, water levels, competition, environment, etc, stayed the same, so there was no reason to a big change. However, for the birds, after they succeeded, you have tried a range of different herbivore animals, and that made the planta evolve to avoid being eaten, mainly because it could simply be extinct, ao after the plants adapted to protct themselves the herbs had no chance to follow up.
Been meaning to get this out for months...literally took 24 hours worth of recording/editing to produce this video due to either audio not recording, OBS screwing up the video, the file corrupting before editing and then one which was just awful. Even then, I still messed up the audio for this one due to OBS! Never have I had to redo a recording so many times!
The game is conceptually cool but the model is just not good enough to create meaningfully different niches, and even when you just try to fill the basic niches, stuff randomly dies because the mechanics are shaky. It's kinda disappointing.
I think it takes direct 'inspiration' from the creature creator yep, but they have turned it more into a simulation than what Spore ended up being. Whilst I do enjoy The Sapling; in its current state, it just doesn't feel complete, more like playing a demo than an actual game. I think it has a lot of potential, but it needs to just be a little bit more than what it currently is. I think the game Thrive (very similar to Spore as well, but tries to go beyond Spore's scope) has the potential to replace Spore in its field, but again, they have a lot of work to do as well in order to get it right. All I want is Spore, but what they showed in a demo ~8 years before release - more blood and realism, more actual survival of the fittest and not the PG version that we eventually received! If I could get that, it would instantly be one of my favourite games ever!

I love how, through multiple mass extinctions on land, the fish just be vibin
that needs to change
hey btw, ik this is a year ago but do you know if you can play as the animals you create in the sapling?
@Chicken4L1fe no you can’t, not sure if you ever will to be honest - it’s more of a simulator than anything.
Spore or Adapt do that pretty well though :)
The fish were the peak of evolution apparently
He didn't put worms, If he did, they would be the greatest. Unfortunately, this game doesn't allow crabs.
The yellow tree thing evolved from the algea
I love watching the devblogs for this game. Rather than spastic or estranged, they're informative and light hearted. Fun.
The fishes probably didn't mutate because there environment was almost the same as before
Even though they retained the color, the fish had diversified quite a bit! You had several predators and herbivores
Seems like a nice little game to play around with!
The bird creature is amazing, wish it was real
Make more videos of this game also new subscriber
Life will always find a way, even if it’s cursed 😂
I just found you through The Sapling, please do more videos!
Fish superiority.
The omnipresent birds literally lit up the land with their holiness🙏
I have a feeling those goblin things I ate all the birds and then died out as well
That’s what I am presuming a well!
keep in mind that plant seeds sometimes stay inert until conditions arise that allow them to germinate
Looks like the potato that evolved disappeared. What are those red things that look like sea cucumbers with teeth on the side? They appear on land and water.
I didn’t notice those? Maybe fish attempting to get out of the water and failing 😂
I think those are freshly dead animals, so meat basically. Then they turn into skeletons.
Oh of course! Yes it’s meat from the dead animals
All hail the all powerful carnivore in the sky

you have no idea how long I waited
Those fishes look like those big eyed fish in Subnautica
They do a bit yes!
Don't question the elevated one
the yellow trees evolved from kelp!!
Sea platna can evolve into trees. And i love your videos.
the fish can evolve to turn into land animals, and the same with algae

@@IslandPotato the saplings video shows that algae can move on land i think
@LiamUlvi ah ok, may have changed since I last checked then!
"kelp" thats algae
Same family, but you are right. Just that a few that evolved resembled kelp
The first bird you made looks like a terror bird
can you do ice age?
Yes, and will do next time I do a video on the game, will likely be shortly after new years :)
Cursed Spore😂
You do know that if you wait long enough the plant will turn into tree and the fish will eventually turn into land animals
Yes I do know that :)
Thank gos I thought he did not tun on mutations!
The youtuber Jammidodger also calls his audience spuds. No he's not related to potatoes. No I don't know why he does that.
its actually possible for plants and animals to evolve from fishes/seaweed to land animals and trees now
Fishes can evolve to be on land I believe, I don’t think kelp can evolve to trees, but it does look that way a few times in the episode!

Wait a minute..... this isn't Zomboid....... jk, this game seems interesting, kinda like how a neuro network evolves

Could you make another video with this game
I will be at some point soon. My hands are a little full right now, but I will do another video on it when I can :)
Make Smurf cat!
you will play the sapling when
Will be recording an episode hopefully tomorrow :)
Did anybody else notice that the island looks like an among us character
sapling
He never showed us the pond
Ah my bad, I didn’t leave in the explanation, it wasn’t big enough to support life except some kelp 😊
The game is conceptually cool but the model is just not good enough to create meaningfully different niches, and even when you just try to fill the basic niches, stuff randomly dies because the mechanics are shaky. It's kinda disappointing.
I do agree, certain aspects do really need an improvement to make it more fun. But it is early access, so hopefully it will improve soon :)
this is literally just a ripoff of spore lol.
