Dudailustra's drawings were SOOOOO good (14:30). Their art has clear impressionist and cubist influences and the mermaid drawing was absolutely stunning. Not all drawings need to have "clear edges"; imagine telling Van Gogh to add "clear edges" to his Starry Night.

I had been doing double posts. My reels were multiple shots during the drawing process with a big final art reveal. Then I would post a carousel post with the same pictures. But now I am pushing myself to change. I will do a carousel post of the art. I will do a reel with a fancy effect or with process video. A fancy effect example would be the sketch, hand swipe, final art or the erase the sketch to reveal the final art. I will use stories to show sketches, dtiys challenges I am working on an entry for, or announcements. Announcement examples might be hitting so many followers, showing off art not really in my aesthetic that is just fun or an experiment, or announcing that my art is featured somewhere.
OMG I just discovered your channel and I love the concept of this video so much!! It's really helpful! I would add that it's also important to add variety in your feed, it's one of my biggest problem, I have some 'phases' and I'm drawing really similar pictures, and your followers like variety and new things, but always make sure that your identity is visible ! Thanks for the advice. I never thought the variety and my description might be misleading people. Indecision should be my middle name and it shows with what I like to create. Now to just nail down a single style for Instagram. There is always have DeviantArt to put my other works on.

First of all, that meow in the video terrified the crap out of me. I like to listen while I draw and I've also got a cat so I thought she was yelling at me to open the door. but anyways, I'm kinda feeling stuck on this whole instagram thing. I do roblox commissions (YEAH I KNOW LOL) and many of my commissioners want me to get a twitter instead. I don't really think I will because instagram just feels more like home I guess, and I just don't use twitter all that often.
My most popular post by far (41 likes compared to the usual 19) is one I never really but too much effort in and I don't really know why :(
I feel like my main problem is my inconsistent posting and aesthetic kashfaklsfhalsf. I've still only got a handful of followers because of it probably (like 30-40), but they really do feel like a small little family to me... probably because most of them ARE my family LOL.
Anyways, I'm begging you please roast me. I am in desperate need of some tough love >_<

When I first started my art account, I... did triple post just for the sake of "aesthetics" lol. But then I realized that it looks messy and it was just a pain in the eyes. That's why I deleted all of my posts and reposted them with the triple posts combined in one post (line art, wip, timelapse, and the finished piece). Now I only have 9 posts atm from 15 posts back then lol. Great video tho... it was entertaining yet helpful at the same time with you giving critiques so that we can learn from them. ^^

Thank you so much for this video. It's very helpful with me trying to figure out my new aesthetic for my account. I'm still figuring out my art style as I go along and have been watching a whole bunch of TH-cam videos from different artist giving advice. Also figuring out what medium I like best as well as bettering my skills. I just really really want to be an overall better artist and gain more followers and engagement! Also eventually getting into merch by selling prints, doing commissions etc. Building up my presence will not come over night and I've accepted that. Hey Alicja!!! How are you?? I’m Laura, but on insta I go by the name Lala (it’s @lala_illustrations) and I am the same age as you! I draw girls and you’ve really inspired me to create my art account. I have been following you since your videos started popping out on my explore page way before I even knew what procreate was! I kind of got it since I saw you and other artists use it, and like a year or so after that I bought my iPad+Procreate January 2019 and that exact same day I created my art account. Since then I’ve hid a lot of posts that I feel they aren’t what I want to “reflect” anymore. Sadly I used to draw things very quickly with no quality at all and post it once a month and somehow managed to feel good about what I was doing haha. Until March 2020 I didn’t start taking it seriously, and, since then, I’ve been posting, 99% of the time, everyother day, so I posts 4-3 times a week. I love this because this has made my style get SO much better 💖 however, sometimes I do doble post (not anymore since i started watching your advices) for example I have a readhair girl that is a redraw 1 year after. If you slide you can see the difference (I did a double post on that, comparing the 2 versions next to each other. Somehow it got a lot more of likes but I hid it because it felt like a double post and I prefer the other version better) and I also used to posts tiktok process videos totally inspired by you but those felt like double posts too so I don’t post them anymore. Would you post them again? I would be totally happy to have my account review by you 💖 thank you so much whatever you choose 💖💖
There are so many ways to avoid double posting and still post all the things you want. If you scroll down on my Instagram, You will see that I had always a finished piece, and next to it a video of its process. The difference was that the video had a picture of a close up and different angle, which made it not seem like a double post. I don't mind taking example from me, I love to see people learn from me so If you want just do what I did 💕
Alicja Nai yes thank you!! The thing is, when I did this, I didn’t have this in mind sadly! For example, I could have kept them if I just would have them look a little different, or maybe apart in time 💖 i didn’t so now they’re hiding! Also, one of them the background was totally white… when I heard you say to avoid the 100% white backgrounds I went straight to delete it!! Haha💖 now I usually don’t really draw backgrounds, but I try for all of them to keep a similar colour to give it somehow an aesthetic, even if it’s not always the same! I thought that could end up having the same effect as the white background

I don’t know why other people double post. But I was doing it because 1. I never knew if reels or posts would get more likes. Every piece of art performed differently. 2. I was afraid to try to do the fancy things I saw in other art reels. Why do you guys double post?
To get a more cohesive colour scheme on my Instagram, I usually don’t ever use completely black or white in my digital art. That looks more natural because in real life, you very rarely see a real black or white unless there’s a complete absence of light or there’s a light source in your artwork. I usually just shift it a bit to any colour with higher saturation the darker I get to still be able to see the colour. That was my tip of the day :) my Instagram is @drawn_things_lol btw ^-^
I just came back to drawing and finally started digital drawing so my Instagram has no harmony at all because my last posts have nothing to do with my old ones (I kind of abandonned the account but my friends recently reminded me about it haha) so I have a question for you... When a drawing doesn't go with the new style you're going for, do you delete them ? Can you please talk about colours and how to make the art stand out from the background? Because everytime I draw, my portrait just merges in the back Another thing, when I finally do decide on a Colour palette, I don't know which colour to use for the background so that the main art piece can be seen properly by the viewer. I am so guilty of double-posting!!! I have a habit of double-posting only cause I forgot to show a zoomed-in image and a zoomed-out image 🙈 and few people have already liked it/commented it haha 😅 I immediately had to archive those after watching your art review. I think instagram is really bad social media for art in general. We tend to follow more aesthetically pleasing accounts and trendy stuff, hence artists are really in disadvantage here. It`s like you are almost obligated to follow specific theme and I often see very talented artist getting stuck on one color scheme, one style, etc...even for years.
Yeah it can be all really amazing done, they can be really talented, but I can`t help to think they are holding themselves back. Experimenting and leaving behind one series of work and starting a whole new one is almost non existent. Even big, famous artists suffer from that. Unless they work on something else at home and don`t post it. But let`s be honest a lot of them turned to trendy, aesthetically pleasing stuff.

Using references helps you improve. If you're not sure what something looks like, look it up. References are an artist's friend. (:
So if I want to paint something with moody colours, make an exclusive account for it to fit the "aesthetic". If I want to paint with bright colours, make another account. If I want to do some sketches, make another account. If I want to paint different genres make an account separately for each. If you're an artist who likes to try different things and mix it up then make 10 different accounts to share their work? (-____-) Ugh, I don't know, the most important advice that you have is the most difficult for me to do. If I limit my colour palette to fit the "aesthetic" how will I grow as an artist? If I make 10 different accounts to fit my work how will I manage my productivity? And I'm not a full time artist either, I got a day job. Don't get me wrong, I really really value your opinion and admire you as an artist. But I'm having trouble with all these "rules". Based on this, maybe Instagram is not for me even though it's the only platform I really enjoy. I want to be able to create different art and be able to share it, it's just that simple.
Look, that color scheme aesthtetic is a choice. Your aesthetic can also be your very recognizable style, color-sketch-color-sketch posts in the gallery (look at my account if you dont know what I mean). I am just trying to name the things that can make your aesthetic, but you can just look at other accounts of artists you like and find what makes their aesthetic
@@AlicjaNai Thank you for your advice! What I've decided for myself is to make 3 pieces of art within the same genre/style/colour palette at a time. That way when you look at the feed you may see different things but each row will be consistent. Now I just have to follow through with it and hope it doesn't look crazy! Cheers.

I just discovered your videos and I think they are amazing! I am a starting illustrator and would like you to give me some tips to improve my instagram @stefu_illustrations . I like to draw anime/manga and almost always draw in traditional with aquarelle colored pencils. I'm illustrating my own fantasy storie called Aria so almost all my posts are about it.

I really love art so much I am drawing every single day.
But I won't deny that there are times where I just feel unmotivated because of followers and likes. I am screaming inside my head with every single like actually but sometimes I really struggle. I only have 58 follower and an average of 10 likes and maybe half of the 58 are relatives that doesn't care about my craft...
I sound pathetic over promoting but at least checking what I got will be really really appreciated from the bottom of my ❤️. @kraydella
I don’t get why everyone double posts. I haven’t even started my art Instagram yet and that just seems obvious...
no one looks at an entire "page" for aesthetics. They only see 1 piece of art at a time in the timeline. Then maybe will check the entire collection if they like the individual art. So why are you judging by the entire look of the account gallery?

Alicja Nai why? I don’t see anyone’s entire page until I have seen single images and decided that they have talent and great art. I’d never bother to look at an entire page to even notice themes and layouts of the gallery if the first image I saw didn’t draw me in. And then that wouldn’t be how I followed or not. It would still be the art. Are people seeing IG in a different format than I am?
Its possible 😂 but seriously, most of the time the actions go like this - someone found your drawing, he liked it, decided to see your page and on the overall image of your gallery, that someone decides if its worthy checking more out or following
Thats also what I learned from other knstagram tutorials, and what seemed to work for me as well (also this is how I follow people, but ofc there are goong to be people that do it just differently)

First I want to say that this is my first video of yours that I've ever watched, so I am not familiar with you and the purpose of them, but this is my honest opinion of what I just watched: I don't actually understand the point of this video, from the caption I see that you'll be helping with the account in general, and not go around judging others artstyles and artworks, which is what I think you just did....You said to one of them: "I would stick to this style because I like it" and even though it kind of seemed like a "joke", I don't think you should do something like this, then "Your art style is pretty decent" sorry but what? please, don't go around judging it like this...Then you said "We are not talking about art skills, we are talking about art accounts"...but all of the time you are doing that! you keep saying how the person got better, how they can draw or not, you know, I see lots of judgement to the artworks in general and not enough about the account you see? I don't think you should say if the art is good or not becaus that is just YOUR personal opinion, like, you started critiquing one of them saying thta it is not appealing, and i judt loved it, to me there's nothing wrong about it.... What I want to say with this is that if I was one of them when I was starting my account, I would have been pretty devasted if you said that my art style is "pretty decent"....I think you should be giving your opinion about the photography (like you did and I think it was great by the way), profile picture, aesthetic and colors in general, composition of the profile, content ideas, and not about style and whether or not you like how they draw you know? Well that's just my opinion about this video, it's not meant to offend, I think the people who participated where aware of the kind of comments you would be giving them but, yeah that's what I think. Now I'll follow you and see some more of your contentent because asides from that you have some nice tips :)
I get where you come from. Honestly I think its almost impossible to skip over the art style amd skills when im jugding the art accpints because it is pretty big part of art account. What I mean by judging more on the art accpint than art skills is that I wont go in depth of what ar le ypjr mistakes in art itself, because I am more of an expert in social media art. Its a completly different planet for real 😄 And I cant be dishonest, so when I say that the art style is pretty decent I mean it, but I try to motiveate people by saying that they shouldnt give up because everypne has been in that place at some point. I just feel like giving my opinion to people can give them more understanding of where they stand and what direction they can go. I honestly never mean any harm with my videos, even if the artist doesnt like that I didnt love their style that much, I think that It can do more good than lying and will make them think about it. I hope ypu get my ppint, and thanks for your honesty. I will take it in consideration of course, and try to improve on my videos ❤️
