So freakin' expensive, damn. As an aside, when I was in college I bought a used Triumph Spitfire and it was a total blast to drive! Cost: $300
It now comes in a manual!! My preference.
Kudos to you Steve. You're the only car reviewer on TH-cam that correctly says "HEAD-UP DISPLAY" instead of " HEAD'S UP DISPLAY" like so many others.

82k after taxes is crazy !! I’ll get a first year c8 convertible for that price now that they have come down!!
Yep that’s what I did and only $76K plus GM card bonus money of $1643. The HTC is the best.
What about the Miata (in terms of least expensive convertibles)?

the E89 is nicer in design still, very weird.... the E89 design was done before.... 2009. this one looks like a fiat spider cabrio...
My wife has a Z4 with the 4 banger. Wanted to see if she likes it. We now ordered a Z4 M 40i.She loves that thing.
I do really love these cars and very jealous you took it to the Adirondacks!
This and the prior gen are really beautiful cars. As much as I criticize BMW for it's long term costs, these are really nice machines. Great review as always.
I have the m40i. Gets nonstop compliments and is the most rare and beautiful bmw in the lineup.
@stevehammes: Umm, Steve, don't you think that having the previous generation i-Drive should be considered a positive, rather than a negative? More physical buttons, less screen reliant, easier to use while driving? Why would anybody who likes driving care that its' not the latest and greatest?
Is the folding roof a subscription only feature? 😂
But honestly, the last pretty BMW. I wish they made a true M, since this is rumored to be cancelled.
Soft top is not good for safety.🙃
It was much more 'beautiful' when u Started at $50K. At $75K, I wanted a base 4 series with a sunroof😅
Dude what's up with people wanting the ugly over bloated hideous slow bad handling 4 series becsuse "oh em gee it has two small useless back seats"? Even the 8 series convertible back seats are small. Plus they look ugly and too posery. The z4 looks clean and has true classic sports car looks and cabin space is HUGE for two people

My dream convertible would be the Morgan 3 Wheeler. Not longer in production I think. Too bad. That would such a fun drive.
