I’m a fan of the Z4. I actually have a 2007 Z4 3.0 naturally aspirated, 6-speed manual. Pure driving, not a lot of todays luxury options, but a throwback to when the person had to drive the car, not the car driving the person.
Just an FYI.. the armrest is split offset so you can put the side closest to the driver down, have your drink in the cupholder and STILL have an armrest (for the driver... passengers don't matter LoL)
BMW is somewhat on a roll. Their reliability is getting better and are bringing this fine looking car out in manual. I wish they would go back to some physical controls in their interiors however, particularly the X5 and M2. B48/58 are great engines but need to be properly maintained.
It’s not the engines that are the problem. Their inline-6 engines are good reliability-wise. It’s their electronics. And plastics on critical moving parts in the engine.
My favorite factory bass was from the Shaker systems the Mustang used to have like 10 years ago. Even the 500 had nice bass, never heard the 1000, bet it was even better.
I just put a deposit a few days ago on a ‘24 230i XDrive after getting in an accident with my ‘22 330i. Looking forward to driving a coupe again! This car will be coming with me to Delray Beach in 4 years when I retire🎉
I agree with everything you said Kirk. I got the Z4 30i back in June and really love this fun roadster. Plenty of power for the street and lighter and more nimble than the 40i. I also upgraded to the M sport suspension and brakes and also found the brakes to be grabby at low speeds, but that improved after a thousand miles.
Every time I see a car like this, I be like: Z, 4, Q, another Q, ahhhh a third Q and the Batman symbol. Merry Christmas to you and your family Kirk. I wanna see some snow in Naples one day.
What are your thoughts about the handschalter edition ... Can an O.K. manual tranny make the Z4 better overall than the ZF 8-speed? I favor manuals, but the ZF is revered. I figure the ZF will be faster accelerating and get quicker times in any laps this car might get.
How’s your hat staying on? I have the x3m40i and I love it. Even in eco mode it literally is as economical as I’d like it to be. Mechanics are warning me about gasket leaks on these B58 engines after the warranty runs out. Im changing oil every 3-4K miles though, as the warranty interval oil changes are ridiculous. I’m tempted to buy out my lease however. Do you suggest I don’t keep it, or are there suggestions on how to avoid the “leak” warnings long term?
I miss my Boxster GTS 4.0 that was rear-ended and totaled last month. As a percentage, how happy would I be with the manual version of this? (the manual tranny is coming out in March 2024!) Would it be 80% of what the Boxster is fun-wise?
@@kerosenefilms I got the manual Z4 and couldn't be happier. It's a better car in every way possible. Tech, gearbox, low-end torque. If the Porsche Boxster GTS were the same price as the manual Z4, I'd still choose the Z4.
Yes, I have a 2022 Z4 M40i in the Misano blue and I absolutely LOVE the colour. Really want the manual transmission but won't be able to get it in this blue which might be the only thing that holds me back from making the change.
The Z4/Supra, alongside the 2 series Gran Coupe, 8 series, and X3/X4 are the last BMWs with the great iDrive7 interior, which is peak BMW interior. I am not a fan of iDrive8
It's a horrible car quality wise. I guy I know has one and it's just terrible. Doors won't lock, the engine won't start randomly. Roof won't close when opened or just stops midway, water coming in through the closed roof. The alarm goes off, brakes making noises, doors not aligned over time and scratching the paint, exhaust coming loose and on and on and on. New car, has it for a year.
That b58 motor is phenomenal 😍🤩

I love mine. I've had a Z4 M40i for a year and it does everything I need from a car. It's just a complete event to be in it roof up or down !
Just an FYI.. the armrest is split offset so you can put the side closest to the driver down, have your drink in the cupholder and STILL have an armrest (for the driver... passengers don't matter LoL)
You can fit a set of golf clubs, as well as a push cart in the Z4. I'm coming from a Miata where my clubs were stored in the passenger seat.
I’m also coming from an MX-5 and my clubs had to sit shotgun. Looking forward to getting this car with a manual!

The reliability issues on bmws seem to be electrical and also the fact that there’s too much plastic used in the engine bay

I think they’ve gotten better on that front. Not Toyota like reliability but better than it used to be.@@faheemabbas3965
I had a 30i for a couple years and recently upgraded to a 2024 M40i. Been an absolute blast since!
I have a 2024 Z4 M40i too. It's a fun car, isn't it? Love mine.
That Thundernight Metallic!! Beautiful. And with a manual…chef’s kiss!
Merry Christmas Kirk! Looking forward to more Lexus news and reviews in 2024! Thank you!
Merry Christmas!

You sold me! Looks like a blast!
Perfect bargain car that will not kill you or get you jail time. Just the peak performance for road car on regular road.
It is cool the Z4 will have a manual coming next year.

I prefer this to the Supra being a vert person
Awesome review, amazing looking Z4- beautiful color. And coming soon, a manual transmission too! Would still take the Supra though.
Getting a Supra and Miata in one car makes the Z4 the easy pick :)
Supra 😍🎄
Miata for me. I ain’t got 70k for 2 seats.
KK, the fact that your elf cap didn't blow off says a lot about the livability of your test car. 😃
You need to review the manual version when it comes out.
... Yes, please.
BMW will offer a 6-speed manual in the Z4 M40i in spring of 2024.
I hope they still offer this purple next year....would love to pick up a purple manual one in 20 years.
Always enjoy your reviews man!
I appreciate that!

I really want one of these and a Miata
What part of Florida is that?
And then a dentist or 50+ woman adopted that baby 😂. Happy Holidays!
When the Miata was introduced people said only hairdressers bought them. Why was that?

Nice Christmas gift
Sure is

Keep on eye on your cooling system. Overheating is the primary cause of head gasket issues.
Hard to say what the best choice is. See what your options are at the end of your lease mate.
Not seeing these issues reported on the Z4 forum
I wouldn’t mind to swap a B48A20T1 engine from a Mini JCW GP to an ND RF Miata!
Merry 🎄🎄🎄Kirk!!
Merry Christmas trees to you too!
@@KirkKreifels And a 🥳🥳🥳 New Year

Why doesn’t the m40i have a 4.0L v8?
Where would you put a 4.0L v8?

Go test drive a Z or a manual Supra. They're fast, not as sexy as the Boxster.
What did you decide? Did you go back to a GTS or did you get the Z4? I’m debating between the two. The Porsche definitely beats you up on the daily.

I have one. It’s way beyond a Supra or Miata, hands down.
Nice
Wish they still did the Milano blue colour.
Not everyone wants a dark colour or white !!

Nice car….minus the Barney paint
Haha it's not my favorite, but I can live with it.
Nope..doesn't come with RFT tires...if you "win the tire lottery", you'll get the Michelin Pilot Super Sport staggered tires.
No stick, give me a Miata
Stick's coming next summer.

That’s too bad. I’m still buying one with a manual!
Bro he got a lemon 😭 what on earth did he buy????
@@faheemabbas3965 just a normal brand new BMW.
Sounds like bs
He has a G29 Z4 (2019+)? Or an older model. I don’t believe you if it’s the newest model…
