I went from like $10k a year.. added a second truck with my wife driving.ahe was already on policy. A 94 frieghtshaker valued at $15k what i added.. No Claims.No Accidents. NO BAD dOT..Nothing.. my renewal came and was $35,000 for the new year.. $25,000 increase to add a old truck that at best would cost $15k to replace. Both trucks run local to home..
It’s because of lawsuits. Or the potential of lawsuits.
How long has she been on the policy? Was she listed as a co driver? But adding a second truck does jump it up there. I would look for someone else to get your insurance with.

But 2.5 times higher.. with a older truck with a 1/3 the value of the other truck.. and yes.i changed carriers.. got it down to idk $18k a year for the 2 trucks. I have a friend..3 trucks.4 trailers on his policy. Him. Son (had cdl maybe 2 years) and wife who just got her cdl.. his policy is like $23k a year.. insurance companies just make shit up.. charge whatever
@@brentlance2379 ok. Our old insurance company come to my dad an told him he was getting too big when we put 2 lease trucks "we run 2 of our own". Then when our renewal come up they said our premium was going up to double. Sounded like they wanted us to do what they wanted or pay the price.

Imo the playing field isn't level anymore.

Great to get out of the truck and I decompress an enjoy friends and family. We had to end up going with another insurance company and the lady saved us a ton of money, cut our monthly in half.
Yeah things are crazy for sure. Getting sick of being in survival mode. The old timers will say trucking is seasonal with ups and downs and the ones that make through the downs well they make it.

Hope you had a great holiday. I too had a shunt. A car went into the back of me. He admitted full responsibility, and I managed to get back home as I'd gone out for the day. By the way, I live in the UK. Recently, if you were not at fault, it wouldn't affect your premium. My No Claims Bonus is fine, no problem, but now, premiums do go up, even though an accident isn't your fault. Apparently, it can go up by around 30%. Last year's premium was £600, so that would roughly put another £180 on top, including the usual increase. So I've decided to not bother with a car (by the way, the insurance company decided its a write-off). Got a good price for my car, and I will use public transport, which is virtually free for me. Anyway, my insurance company has said that they will keep my policy open for 60 days in case I change my find. I'll think about it. So I do know how you feel. Its my first accident in over 30+ years of driving. Personally, there's a lot more idiot drivers about now

Diversify types of freight hauled . Open bed / flat step double drop rgn and or telescopic trailers doing oversize.
Dry van vs. refer , and look at more load boards to see what options there are.
People pay for niche freight , look into specialized freight. Or does a broker / Shipper have freight they need covered at night ?
Look at being the problem solved for your customers.

I have 3 no faults and most insurance agencies wouldn’t even quote me, I had all 3 police reports showing I wasn’t at fault and they still wouldn’t insure me smh.

Where you are based out of can make a huge difference. When I moved out of Philly and bought a shop/terminal up near Routes 80 & 81 I saved more than half on insurance
And they wonder why trucking companies are going out of business. Not to mention that trucks cost more and it takes two years to order a new truck. To fuel prices. I feel your pain Justin.

So don't call me delusional when apparently you don't know what you are talking about. It got so bad that their salesmen were only allowed to sell fifteen trucks until they were shut down. Before you say something know what you are talking about.

Someone pulled out of the median directly into the right lane into the side of my trailer. He didn’t look and was ticketed for a few things, yet MY auto insurance went up $8 a month. How does my auto insurance go up for an accident in a companies vehicle that I was no where near at fault in?? That’s ridiculous, I get penalized for someone else negligence!! I haven’t had any other tickets or accidents in my driving record since 2006.

A possible fix for your air bag rubbing issue - they sell rubber caps AKA bolt covers on Amazon in different sizes. if it is the threads causing the air bag issue this, might help eliminate the problem I hope!

Same issue here was stopped in traffic in my lane not moving and a motorhome ran into the side of my truck. The Nashville Metro refused to give me the police report and I’m stuck with the high rates. Falls off on November but it is still bull crap. The world hates truckers until they need them.

My boss and I have several instances of at fault boneheads crashing into us. Either the documentation by the lazy officer on the scene writes it up as, indistinguishable fault, or crooked lawyers ambulance chasing. One guy ran into my boss while he was at a red light. The crasher claimed non sexual function. Therefore his wife successfully sued for not being able to have sexual relations. The world is upside-down.
