Hello! I was listening to you talk about your budgeting feelings and I had this thought: in your previous two year long projects, it was like you were enthusiastically doing an art school assignment and really giving it your all. Now it feels like you are freshly graduated from art school and you are making art on your own terms. Some of the structure is still there, but you seem less obsessive about the rules and the grading. It feels like you are doing your project because you genuinely want change and can feel the change, and not soley following the plan that was devised to teach you things. As always, I really enjoyed the video and I hope you are doing well!
smoke show! I am super intrigued by your thoughts on these because I do not feel comfortable going to salons, but I have a trial in 6 weeks (hard eye roll - jury trial in a pandemic, brilliant), and depositions most weeks until then and nails are something I view as armor in these situations. I don't know why. But like more than clothes or makeup or shoes, its like hard nails (which I do not have naturally), make me feel like I am protected from aggression and meanness and misogyny in litigation. So I've been curious about sort of elevated press on nails, but waiting for someone who is going to give me all of the feelings and info about it.
@@bourgeoisbarbie7734 You are not wrong my friend. I have, as of late, become more used to telling my super bright and talented paralegal who has simply not had basic affirmation of her many skills and talents that sure sometimes, you will make a mistake, you own it, fix it, and move on. But when they tell you, as many of them do, that there is only one way to do it correctly, it is a lie. And we dissect everything from basic form to drafting to my manic opposition to passive voice to defining the important facts in the face of the operative law. And then she saves me 87 times a day. but in this process, for which she gives me too much credit, I am finding my ways around and through the lies. And seemingly silly things like nails or pink eyeshadew, I pull in some strength.
I feel like you mood has been uplifted since you have moved in with friends. I'm sure you had a lot of stress in your life with regards to your business and it was upsetting letting go of something you have worked so hard for. I think moving in with your friends is a new beginning for you and it will bring new and exciting opportunities. 💗 Would love to see the nails being applied too x
My tip for press-on nails: file down the cuticle shape to fit your own. It makes them so much more comfortable. I like those almond-colored nails for your try-on, but it looks like most people are here for the Smoke Show look (which are much more my aesthetic as well, I just thought the more basic style would make a more balanced review sample).
Can't see the poll, but the smokey thing, definitely. Also, I didn't necessarily budget for this year, just planned on spending less, but this covid and having to work from home started, the reality of having less social contact just took the wind out of me in terms of spending on cosmetics. I spent an obscene amount on books instead. Balancing the madness, i suspect.
I remember when you got the Roen cool quad, you talked about how, when you love a thing, and buy a second, different variety of the thing, you always find the second version a disappointment. Seems like that’s what’s happened with the Charlotte Tilbury?
yes, perhaps! I think I didn't see the pattern this time b/c this color is newly released. When it came out I was like "this is the one I've been waiting for," or some such thing.
I’m so glad things have turned a corner for You Hannah, what a tough tumultuous year it has been but you seem so settled and content in your last few videos! I have been so so thankful for your content in 2020, I feel like I haven’t commented to much as of late but your videos are truely a special moment in my day, a true highlight.
Also there is a note on the website that some of the nails could wear down to a solid color after a while. It'd be interesting to see if the black part of the smokeshow nail wears off.
Lol I laughed at the idea of using the hair extension things as emotional lures to befriend children! That would have worked on me as a kid for sure. Also... lucky for me, that leopard shirt is sold out, otherwise I would have purchased it immediately haha!
Right?! Lol I work in childcare and I used to do this as well when I worked with younger kids. It's genius. Tons of colorful bracelets, colorful hair, glittery makeup, fun nail polish. I got some funny looks from parents sometimes, but the kids love it! 😊
i'm SO intrigued by the static pop on nails. PLEASE do a full thorough review, including how long they lasted! Even with salon-done acrylics, I'm so hard on my nails that i just last about 1 week with professional prep. I've since stopped going to the salon because frittering away $40 here and there is really quite damaging. If Static glue is so good, it might help out with someone as rough on their hands as me!
I found your channel a few weeks ago and I’ve been obsessed with your videos. The ideas by which your video content is based are genius. I want to do the same in a blog form. I hope you don’t mind me borrowing your idea! Keep it up. Thoughtful content is so missing on TH-cam.
The thing about your skin getting oilier at Julia's house, might because of a change in air conditioning. If your old building had forced air or central air blown in through ducts and Julia's house doesn't that could make a huge difference. Central air is way more efficient at controlling humidity, so you were probably hydrating your skin based on a drier climate. I've been going in to work more and I'm noticing my skin is much drier because even though we have central air at home, we keep it fairly warm and humid. We just want to take the edge off the outdoors.
I can definitely see what you are saying about the Charlotte Tilbury glowing cheeks. It doesn’t look bad, but there is an unevenness that appears at certain angles. And I LOVE the look of those smokeshow nails. ❤️
Anytime I have problems with cheek makeup looking patchy I take my damp beauty sponge and spritz with a glow setting spray, then pounce all over the cheek on each side, to melt the product together more with my other face products and sheer it out slightly as well. I do this everyday with my highlighter no matter what because I have texture on my cheekbone area.
Hey there, I have CT's wand, and the way I usually do it is applying a few dots on the cheek and blending with my fingers: I think it's easier to spread the product that way and the end result is much more even! Try doing that!
Great video as always, Hannah! Also, happy brain aneurysm awareness month! This November will be my 5 year survival date / aneurversary. Sending love ♥️
Just wanna throw a note in here haphazardly as I'm doing my makeup: Don't forget about the feast and famine framework! Idk if you recall taking e about that earlier this year, but I think it may apply to you. For myself, I typically have two feat periods a year: in spring and fall. Maybe the same is true for you also and you're coming up on a feast. Maybe that's why you were thinking about not spending in September and doing more in October, but just wanted to throw it out there. Thanks for another interesting video!
This, so so much. Fall is a big makeup splurge time for me, as if I'm gathering up my glitter-drenched acorns for the winter. I have to realllly check myself.
@@allthescarves For sure! I tend to take the opposite approach and prepare. AFter my feast int he spring I pretty much stop buying anything, knowing that I'm "saving up" for the fall. The challenge is not spending it all at the end of August/beginning of September when that sweet, sweet fall lighting comes in! haha
HA. As someone who does the same thing you do (using deeper highlighters as blush) I can confirm that it can look odd on camera, and I think you are right that it's not the application, it's some interaction with the planes of my face. It seems product-specific, and even shades that look similar to me in the pan can behave differently on the face, so I can't necessarily predict in advance which will work and which won't. But it does seem consistent within a product, which means: if you've discovered the issue with the CT highlighter, it'll probably happen again.
After dealing with a lot of anxiety and depression myself, I ordered the colorful hair extensions (knowing the pack was big enough I could wear them at preschool and share them with my kiddos! How funny you had similar motives!). It’s been a joy. They aren’t nearly as cool as yours, because I have not a single eyeshadow 🤣 so I can’t match them...but I thank you for the recommendation. I hope you and Joe enjoy this new adventure in life!! ❤️ Jeanine
Also your cheeks!! Gorgana! Suddenly using the beauty light wand as a blush seems like something that would work for me. I haven't seen it on anyone yet in a way that I thought it would! I think because I like to layer a lot of cream highlights under complexion products and then set them with powder (which isn't so much because I think setting is necessary, my skin is dry enough that a decent setting spray with "set" my foundation and most cream products, but more that I like the effect of layered bronzers and blushes on my skin and that I like wearing tiny thin layers of like 8 different products (doing the most working from home) and more than that, I like the process of layering it on so that I feel like I am wearing not much makeup, but my skin looks very dimensional. I mean, maybe when I return to the office full time and going into the bathroom to add another layer of cosmetics on my face is not how I work through a writing or analysis puzzle, I'll be like a one cheek product person, but for now, I'm like sure, three highlighters and two blushes and a contour and bronzer and a finishing powder over a tiny bit of concealer and foundation with setting spray is a light makeup day.
THIS IS SO ME. I like the experimentation and seeing the results, now that I'm working from home. Before, it was more about putting something on knowing it had to last through the day. Now people talk about not wearing makeup "because you're home" or the whole five-minute-makeup which I get the appeal of, but I'm taking maybe 45 - 60 minutes that I didn't used to have to play with my makeup, and appreciating the luxury of having that time.
I am so so glad that things are looking up for you 🙂. I cannot believe it's already september! I checked on my sephora status yesterday and I am still $500 away from keeping rouge. What a year! I feel better about my possessions than ever, honestly. I've learned too much of a good thing is still too much!
I had major hair envy of you with your clip ins and Ourielle with her wigs, and I finally bit the bullet and dyed my hair purple! Thanks for the inspiration!
I like all 3 nails but I would be inclined to wear the shorter periwinkle pair, so that's the one I'd like to see first. Your makeup looks so fresh and pretty today.
I found your channel through Becky Loves Kanga, and I’m really enjoying watching budgeting / smart shopping videos! Thanks for sharing, you’ve inspired me to do something similar! 💜💕
Excited for the nails, smoke show looks really cool! I'm way under my budget due to the pandemic, not doing my makeup and hair as often or as glam has shown me how much I really have and that it still works.
Your antihaul of the 21 days Ulta sale was one of my favourite videos. I watched it multiple times, even though we don’t have access to Ulta here in the UK here anyway. It was pacey and very entertaining. I’d love more of those from you.
Hannah! Idea! This is unrelated to the topic of this video in particular but I find myself occasionally pausing a video of yours to look up new words and I absolutely love that about your channel. I was wondering if you’d at all be interested in throwing in a word of the day /vocabulary moment at some point in your videos. I have no suggestions as to where a small segment like that would fit in naturally but I always am intrigued by your word choices and how you’re able to integrate that language into your everyday casual speech !!
I want to see all of the nails eventually! (if that ends up being an option) Perhaps 1. Almond look 2. Smokey Quartz look 3. Pale sky look It's interesting to hear how your relationship with your budget is changing. I am glad you are on friendlier terms with it! :)
I would love to see the nails regardless of what ones you use, but smoke show is my favourite! When you film the video would to be able to open the short periwinkle shade and compare them to the physical size of the longer nails?
Periwinkle! Because it's absolutely my favorite color. I applaud people who can wear any sort of fake nails. I adore them but not on myself. I cannot function with them on so I've resorted to gel polish which holds up thankfully.
I get what you're saying about the CT wand, I wonder if you used (and you may already do this) a sponge/blender and bounced it on would it maybe disperse some of the pigment in a way that's more forgiving?
Thank you for another wonderful video, Hannah! 💜💙💚 I am super here for the nail content. I feel like I have to vote smokeshow, but I love the periwinkle ones as well!
I only bought some empty magnetic palettes, empty pans and binder in August (for pressing repanning) and I replaced a moisturiser. I was gifted a lot of stuff for my birthday in July and my anniversary in August, so I really didn't need or want a whole lot. I'm hoping to pull off a makeup nobuy until black friday (except mascara) 🤞🤞
Periwinkle! The Smoke show would be interesting, but I'm wondering if that partial clear and swirly bits would be challenging to demonstrate on camera. I wonder.....
I love the colorful clip-in hair extensions. As you'd say: I LIVE. I want some but I don't think I've found any curly enough to even remotely match my natural hair texture.
I appreciate the gently chaotic energy of this video and would like to add my vote for the smokey nails. My own nails are kept short and lately not even painted, but I have a total fascination for partially/totally translucent designs. The way you describe the colour and appearance of your new Charlotte Tilbury wand made me think of at least one of the products in Natasha Denona's Bronze cheek palette, whose iridescence looks wonderful on deeper skin, but pulls a little strange on lighter tones. I'm hoping that these are signs that these products have actually been well-formulated for deeper skin tones. Might be worth looking up try-ons/reviews of this shade on its target demographic, out of interest.
I would want to see the periwinkle... As for press on nails, you should try the Impress ones? Victoria Joyce raves about them and they look great on her!
Whenever you say "cream chee --" I always anticipate you're about to say "cream cheese" not "cream cheek." Just thought I'd make you laugh or at least smile. :)
I think either smokeshow or periwinkle, just because smokeshow is the most interesting aesthetically and periwinkle is a fun color but not particularly autumnal
I’ve over spent for the last 8 years, and now I have so much I don’t even enjoy it anymore. I can’t keep up, and it really sucks. I wish I was motivated enough to get rid of 9/10 of it, but even the thought exhausts me and honestly scares me. It’s actually really sad, I’m just going through it right now.
I really recommend the "declutter into a box" method that I used during my no-buy year. Especially if you are feeling overwhelmed, I feel like it's ok to just pack those 9/10 away into a closet for a while. Give yourself some mental space and freedom to enjoy your favorite 1/10 again. Then you can make the hard decisions later when you're feeling replenished
I've been slowly decluttering for about a year now. I do recommend the declutter in to a box method. I also recommend decluttering when people are out of the house. I find it easier to make progress in a no judgement zone. Even if no one else actually cares it helps me. I will also say, I've whittled so much away and now I just love the clean uncluttered feeling of my space. I really puts me in the right headspace. I have also heard suggestions to do one section at a time. I dresser drawer a day or week or whatever.
Hi, virtual hug here. I also wanted to add to whatever degree it might help: you can sell used makeup on Mercari. I know it was easier for me to get rid of dupes and things when I could get some cash for them and also know I was selling things that were maybe LEs or sold out so people were thrilled to be able to buy them, and I wasn't adding to the landfill -- they were being re-homed. BUT you have to be strong and know if the "buy" side of Mercari is going to get you in trouble in terms of impulse control.
You are all so lovely, thank you for all of the suggestions. I think a lot of it is tied into my mental health right now, and not being able to take the first steps. Also, I have two daughters currently in “virtual “ school, and just things going on all around me. Hard to explain, but the motivation is just gone right now (for anything above my daily duties).
In terms of the nails: Smoke Show! In terms of where my budget is: I've reopened and cleaned out my spreadsheets and I'm basically starting over in September. I have given myself a stricter monthly budget, based on real numbers, and using real rules that take my personal temptations (Halloween stuff!) into account. I gotta let go of the mess I've made over the past 5 months and I feel calmer and more confident in my budget for the rest of the year. Also, I got that darn Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wand in Spotlight because of you and I wanted to hate it but now I don't know how I'm ever gonna live without it.
I look forward to your nails video :) thanks again for allowing us along your journey. Month 6 of COVID19 self isolation has me intensely grateful for my parasocial friendships. Void bless 🤞🏽💖
Kelly Gooch tried a dark duochrome highlighter by Becca some time ago and had the same problem, it looked patching even when it's evenly applied. Seems like this kind of color just doesn't work that well on light skintones.
I think it must be specific to the duochrome or shifting nature of the product! In general, highlighters in deeper colors that show up as blushes on me work great. But the iridescence AND pigment together might be making it a more delicate operation.
i like those last little nails, they are understated. Sometimes we want a thing and get it only to find out it wasn't quite what we thought it was. I love the Charlotte Tilbury cosmetics. I do not own any because they are expensive but they are so beautiful. I think you can make that highlight work for you. It looks so pretty on you. I think if I did not really need anything and I could wait, I'd wait until November and buy some nice fall clothing items. That's about the time that fall will be going on sale to make room for Christmas. I am praying that we will be able to have a normal Christmas this year.
Oh i know 100% what you mean about the CT highlight-blush. I can totally see it, could see it before you explained. Maybe it's because I'm also so fair and struggling with blushes and highlighters as blushes myself, but i can see it. If a product like that doesn't work that way for me, i apply a trca eof it on a blush and top a cream blush almost as a highlighter with it. 🤷🏼♀️
I have been a complete failure at budgeting as of late. Not in a wreck yourself sort of way, just in a not saving as much as I'd like kind of way. I bought books recently though. The Bloomsbury Harry Potter series. I am in love with building up my hard cover book collection up again. I want books to read at night and I want hard copies. To protect my eyes and help me fall asleep and because I DO love books. I just had moved to pretty much all digital copies. I signed up for the IPSY glam bag plus and I'm enjoying that. Otherwise, I am wanting to cut WAY back on beauty purchases - especially makeup. I think I'm going to make that my goal. No makeup purchases outside of my glam bag until 2021. Seems reasonable to me. I even have a back up mascara.
I used to write a nail art blog and did my nails practically everyday. I shuttered it a few years ago after becoming burnt out on doing my nails. Now I pretty much wear press on nails exclusively.
I’m not sure if anyone else has mentioned this, but TH-cam took away the poll feature in videos a few months ago, so sad! You can still do a poll on the community tab though 💕
Different houses definitely affect your skin differently. I just moved into a new apartment and I find my skin is so much less red and irritated and I've changed nothing about my skincare routine only moved
the pole thing was canceled by yt, it doesn't exist anymore because "creators weren't using it enough" ^^" (another youtuber said that was the message they got when inquiering) Also, totally get what you're saying about nail polish adding to the visual esthetic

I am so so glad that things are looking up for you 🙂. I cannot believe it's already september! I checked on my sephora status yesterday and I am still $500 away from keeping rouge. What a year! I feel better about my possessions than ever, honestly. I've learned too much of a good thing is still too much!
Also, periwinkle is my vote! Such a pretty color! 💙💙
I had major hair envy of you with your clip ins and Ourielle with her wigs, and I finally bit the bullet and dyed my hair purple! Thanks for the inspiration!
The periwinkle ones! Omg love that color 😍
I like all 3 nails but I would be inclined to wear the shorter periwinkle pair, so that's the one I'd like to see first. Your makeup looks so fresh and pretty today.
Hannah, check out the Colourpop Drop of a Hat supershock blush. It's shiny and peachy-bronzy but it has no such application problems.
lovely video Hannah, as always I am inspired by your honesty and self assuredness.
I love both the colour and the word periwinkle
What a lovely way to start the day and coffee with Hannah! Cheers to September for new beginnings.
Your antihaul of the 21 days Ulta sale was one of my favourite videos. I watched it multiple times, even though we don’t have access to Ulta here in the UK here anyway. It was pacey and very entertaining. I’d love more of those from you.
Yes for the nails! Been curious about this brand!! I like the almond and the periwinkle!!
Good day! Did not see the nail poll, I would have voted for smoke show ;). Love statement nails! Enjoy them!
Hannah!
You’re doing well with the budget and I love your pink - brown eyes with tho hair addition x
I would love that nail video!
I want to see all of the nails eventually! (if that ends up being an option) Perhaps 1. Almond look 2. Smokey Quartz look 3. Pale sky look
It's interesting to hear how your relationship with your budget is changing.
I love smoke show ones!!! They’re my vote
I love the colorful clip-in hair extensions. As you'd say: I LIVE. I want some but I don't think I've found any curly enough to even remotely match my natural hair texture.
Review on nails please! Smokeshow
You can do polls in the Community tab!
Regarding oily skin, do you not have air conditioning now but previously had it ? 🤷🏻♀️
Periwinkle please 💜💎
I would want to see the periwinkle...
As for press on nails, you should try the Impress ones? Victoria Joyce raves about them and they look great on her!
Whenever you say "cream chee --" I always anticipate you're about to say "cream cheese" not "cream cheek." Just thought I'd make you laugh or at least smile. :)
Smokeshow! Ive been very curious about static nails.
I think either smokeshow or periwinkle, just because smokeshow is the most interesting aesthetically and periwinkle is a fun color but not particularly autumnal
Smokeshow for sure! How pretty!
Hi Hannah. For you I vote for the Smoke Show. They would look great on you. ♥️
That's what I was thinking, as well! 🙋🏻♀️
And yeah, yt doesn't allow polls any more! Heard other youtubers comment on it time and time again lately...
Hannah this was such a fun video, pls update us on how it goes with the nieces 😂 we need to know!
Can’t see the poll but I would love to see any of the nails, though I’m most drawn to the smoke show!!
I like the periwinkle nails.
i literally love your thinking about the neices! its sooo cute... and i do the EXACT SAME. i plan how to make the small people love me. it is vital
Smokeshow looks so cool!! That's my vote!
I’m curious about the smokeshow nails!
YT discontinued polls for no good reason. I miss them! ♥️
AH! Just as I suspected. Too bad, it would have worked so well!
I wonder if the absence of vitamin C in your skincare routine is causing the oiliness?? Smoke show nails for sure those are so cute!!
Curious about how the smoke show nails look once applied!!
I’d love to see smoke show!
Almond ombre ones!!
I like the almond nails.
I also can’t see the poll so leaving my vote as a comment - definitely “Smoke Show” ones 🤞🏻
Smokeshow please!
Different houses definitely affect your skin differently. I just moved into a new apartment and I find my skin is so much less red and irritated and I've changed nothing about my skincare routine only moved
I'd like to see the length of Periwinkle, but on a purely design vote - smokeshow. :)
the pole thing was canceled by yt, it doesn't exist anymore because "creators weren't using it enough" ^^" (another youtuber said that was the message they got when inquiering)
Also, totally get what you're saying about nail polish adding to the visual esthetic
@hannah Louise Poston, Timeless are having a 50% off sale. Go get your vitamin C serum and save some coin!!
Smoke show nails!
I think TH-cam removed the pooling
fuction
Smoke show! Omg
