After decades, I still still find this movie to be so sad and emotionally draining. It was well put together in every way but Downey was the piece of the puzzle that made it a masterpiece.
I cry every single time I watch this scene. The film score soaring as the camera pans over the Santa Monica mountains….a heartbreaking work of staggering genius.
I was 11. Had Zero business watching this movie. I don't even remember how I saw it. 2nd saddest movie. Never smoked crack. So I guess that was a plus!! Terms of Endearment was #1 for me at that age. Mom fell asleep on couch. I was up very sick. I balled my eyes out!
Saw this when i was 8 years old. Had no idea what i was watching other than knowing the songs Hazy Shade of Winter and Going Back To Cali. Watched. It in 3 different ages later: 15, 30, and 40. Watching it in my 40s showed me just how great this film still is. And Robert Downey Jr, bro what more is there to say. Played that part too well 💯🙏
This cuts you to the core its heart breaking and there acting in it is amazing on a deep level but it also shows what can and would happen if you took drugs ontbis high level its one film that really shows what can happen if you take drugs on this high level
andrew mcarthy is brilliant in this as is david spade but robert downey is pure magic whats mad is he was actualy hitting the drugs big time in real life while working on this movie. but still managed to put in a performance of that calibre. hes just a class actor end of. then the score being done by thomas newman ahhhh man its bliss as well as sadness such a powerful film tho
Yes but don’t forget Blair and Clay were worn out too. They were at the end of their rope so it’s realistic they don’t think to do cpr. Also Julian wasn’t even just oding this was massive heart failure/cardiac arrest. He also likely has been dead already for a while because he’s very cold to the touch which is why Blair puts the jacket on him.

Thomas Newman is a goddamn genius at scoring soaring cinematography.
Me, too. Every time.
I can't imagine the guilt she must have felt thinking she waited too long to get Julian the help he so desperately needed. Still gets me in the feels!
Andrew McCathy’s acting in this film is other level.
So true. He nails it. Downey Jnr also!
One of The Best Films of The 80’s.
His best movie probably night of the running man
@@Kingofslumpz I never saw that film. Will check it out! TY!
Eh certain parts. This is one of them fortunately
This always makes me cry
The “I’m sorry” eats me up every timr
.
Wtf does your comment mean?

It just does not get more 80s than this right here.
It doesn’t get more 80’s then ODing in a car?
@@ConfuseingGameing I think we're talking about the music.

David Spade? Do you mean James Spader?
@@Chocobear555 “is this where you wanna be when jesus comes back?”
James spadere. I added the extra e on the end because i thought it sounds cool
@@Chocobear555I was gonna say the same thing. James Spader not David Spade. David Spade was in Police Academy 4 Citizens On Patrol though.
This scene alone is a masterclass of acting.
You had to be that age and live during that time to really understand what it was like back then. I know. I was there.
Yep...I had a rule...everyone makes it home, no one died on my watch.
EFDUP, man. I was hoping he would pull out of this. I was not expecting this ending.
Jamie Gertz looks so INCREDIBLY IN THIS SCENE ❤❤❤❤
Robert Downy Jr was RESURRECTED INTO THE IRON MAN 👍😎👍
that goes so deep into the heart!
The saddest part of the movie. 😪
😭😭😭😭😭😭 then i watched endgame and Julian died again 😭😭😭😭😭
RIGHT! He had a second chance in the multiverse 😢
I have to watch this movie. It looks incredible.
Please do so, if you still haven't yet. It's a powerful, brilliant movie!!
It has one of the best scores of all time

This shit makes me ball my eyes out every timr
This movie is wayyy too much how it was for my group of hs friends and we weren’t from BH
A movie allways rates lower when the main actor dies but they will never take this away from being a classic.
You can’t save someone from themselves 😢
Julian dies of heart failure I've read the book to this and I always thought it was an overdose until I read the book.
I love her man
Id love to hear this music when Tony Stark dies, and then at his funeral.I may need tissue.
Can you spare a square, NOW?
I somehow landed here after a thomas newman playlist
He did the score for this movie.
My favorite film composer
How'd they shoot that long shot without a drone?
I would never wanted Downy to be replaced.
But at 0:31 McCarthy deserves to be Iron Man. Or marvel hero with 7X sequels
at least clay was sober he never did drugs
Must be one on the timelines where the Avengers don't win :)
Less Than Zero is so Negative!
I'm totally going to get PUNished for that joke :)
It's realistic. I did drugs for 30 years and all my friends are dead.
just curious what his last words were when he passed?
CPR would have been worth a shot.

He was long gone bro
Why didnt they do cpr is what I always wondered.
He was long dead.
