Only 14 minutes in, but vehicles will always be nuts n bolts. Definitely an intimidating job ! Might have to watch the rest tomorrow morning at 4am. I had to check it out quick. 👍
holy cow. I was guessing $2000.00 just off the top of my head. Then I looked them up. Is it bad that some of the cars I drive right now cost less than a pair of cats? lol.
Like Pooltimenow I, too, I am in awe of the confidence (brashness?) you exhibit by agreeing to take on a task like this. It speaks volumes about the reputation you have developed when a car owner will give you a nearly new vehicle like this for you to modify. I bow in deep respect. I agree. High-end products should exhibit high-end design. These may function well but lacked a lot in installation design. I assume exchanging them side to side was not an option. Can''t wait for the next installment.
@@daprof7417 Thank you so much! While I have worked on more than a few high dollar vehicles, I too am shocked what some people bring and trust me with. Some people I can tell are nervous, others (like this gentleman) has delt with me enough that it doesn't seem to bother him any more. I absolutely love getting the chance to see and work on many of these cars that are only a dream for most of us.
Man, all those lines touching the O2 sensors is gonna eventually rub a hole in something and or melt it because the exhaust is not stationary as you know it does move back-and-forth with acceleration.. I have the coupe C8 Z06 with the same cats and it looks much easier than what you did with the convertible although I ended up with about 15,000 bruises on my arms. Man you really got to watch where you decide to position the arms on your lift because these cars have very specific spots where they need to be jacked up because of being mid engine. Many have fallen off lifts. if you look under there there are little oval slots where most people install jack pucks. By the way, that car will get a check engine light because they all do no matter what FabSpeed or Soul claims. They do sound amazing though with the high flow cats, worth every penny!
I was able to get some tie wrap on those lines and pull them over to the side away from the o2 sensors. I cant believe a place charging that much for cats would overlook something so simple like that.
@@VPTfab Well I have/had the same cats… I actually went catless but I think I’m going to put them back on just because the sound is more refined. But damn seems like convertibles are much harder to deal with and there’s a lot of stuff in the way my O2 sensors don’t hit anything.. I am thoroughly impressed that you took that car apart not knowing anything about it and the damn thing actually still runs lol 😆
@@2020matrix8 There sure is a lot of junk back there! Not much scares me anymore for disassembly and assembly. Ive been doing stuff for quite a long time. If I do get stumped there is almost always a schematic or manual to reference. I actually like getting motors or cars in boxes and assembling them following shop manuals. I like the challenge. lol
So these convert the car into a Cadillac? Nice. Also, these cost 5K not 6K. After shipping and taxes it's around 5.5K. On Fabspeed's site it shows they're supposed to come with gaskets.

Watched the rest of your video. What a nightmare !
@@michaelzeinert2074 Not the worst Ive ever had to do. But its right up there! lol

Looks like you got your hands full on this one. The only thing i can think of that would be more of a challenge is to get to the plover napa store.
HAHA! I had to go there a few times over the last couple weeks. They were shocked to see someone in the store.
There's stuff.

I can't believe you just started taking that car apart!
You must have researched it quite a bit!
Can't wait for next vid!
@@CRAIGSTUD I did watch a TH-cam video on taking the bumper off. So I'm a certified professional.
Here is my guess at the 46:29 mark... $2000.00 EACH.. So 4 grand total (before taxes.. 🤣) Well, I was way under! Wow... 🤑
I really have to poop
Did I leave that in there?

Man, that is one badass Corvette. Who makes the wheels?
I agree! I couldnt tell you about the wheels, I assume stock? They have corvette center caps.
@@VPTfab they are not stock wheels.....

There were no gaskets to be seen anywhere. Definitely is a Cadillac now though. Haha
