I still like the paper ones. Occasionally, I will use the electronic boarding pass that is supplied on the United app if I am too lazy to reach for the paper version in my bag but otherwise I would rather have the paper version because I've had issues with bugs in the app.
You should update the app
What if the battery dies, no internet connection, phone freezing, loosing the phone or you can't unlock your screen , etc. It s better both of them

Boarding cards in mobile phone can be erased by mistake if you touch your phone without looking. Boarding cards on paper are better.
