  • In this video, I talk about the radiator and some other things. Then we go on the first test drive around the block. There are a lot of things I still need to do to make it road worthy but the car was more than able to go around the block and it ran like a champ. I was extremely impressed with the performance and drivability.

With all the work you're doing, that car will be ready for another 60 years.

Hey Sierra, I'm surprised that she held up this well after 60 years. Lets hope that eventually she will find a good home with someone that will restore her and take care of her.

That's one awesome looking back end...it's a piece of art, and that engine is running smooooth! Thanks for sharing the first drive, and a look at the Colorado sunset.
    Congratulations!

Hello Nick. Awesome! So cool to see her out of the shop and on the road again. I noticed the automatic headlight dimmer on top of the dash. The one in my 66 Mercury Colony Park looks just like that. There is a small tube amplifier that controls it. Nice to see your wife enjoying the maiden voyage.

Thanks George. I've never owned a car with the automatic headlight dimmer before. I don't know how they work. Ill have to look into that eventually.

Nick, What a kick! I think the radio working after was pretty awesome. Congrats on your patience, perseverance and dedication to getting “Goldie” out on the street again! Oh, and nice ouch having your wife out for the maiden voyage

Hey Gary, thank you. Yes my wife really enjoyed going on the test drive. She really likes the Caddys so I am pretty lucky that we are both on the same page about the cars. I'm spending a lot of money on them so its nice to be in agreement with her.

What a shakedown! Cruising down the road doing 115 miles per hour trying to distract us from your speed by talking about the radio tuning issue! I laughed. I guess the speedometer glitch will be in an upcoming episode. When you tackle the instrument cluster lighting. I enjoy every second of broadcasting.

Who was going 115mph? It wasn't me. I don't have the huevos for that, especially in a car that has been sitting for 30 years.

Great job! You can tell how smooth and quiet it runs, and even how nice it rides, just from the video. And that begs the question: Why does someone abandon a car like that umpteen many years ago? I can maybe see parking a running 4 door Chevy II six cyl. or a Maverick, but a Cadillac? I agree...Goldie sounds like a cool name.

Im wondering if the car had an alignment issue maybe since both the frame at the lower control arm and cross member were cracked and out of place. It had to be. Otherwise, who knows why people do that? Beats me. I cant wait to find out what is wrong with Mr. Green. Thanks.

With all the road rage in colorado you better have a horn.

I haven't see any road rage here yet (thank god) but what I do see is people running red lights all the time. I almost got hit by a guy who I guess never saw the red light and sped past behind my car as I was going through the intersection. That was close. I know people do stupid shit while driving so its no surprise to me when it happens. When I was young, Id get all angry and pissed off about it. Today I just them pass me and off they go. No matter how mad you get, you cant stop people from being stupid.

    Nick,
Impressive, most impressive, my friend. That all-important first drive never ceases to give one a thrill. It never gets old. I'm happy for you. Btw...we could use a couple of comments from your wifey, Tamie, as well...ya camera hog. 🤪
    Regards,
    John

Hey John, thank you. She was complaining that she didn't want to be on camera, you know how girls are. There's always something wrong. But she is a trooper helping me in the shop to get the car going. I couldn't have done it without her.

No salt on those roads I hope.

Hey CSmith, there is no salt on dirt roads which is where I conducted my first test drive. My second test drive was on paved public roads but there was no snow or bad weather so no worries.

@@vintagethunderbirdrepair9426 Good to hear, they salt & treet so much in my area, it becomes airborne.
