Your choice was perfect with those strait lines spaced at a quarter of an inch from the ditch. Thank you for taking the time to explain your decisions, it helps making our understanding valuable. Have a nice weekend. Roseline
Thanks for the detailed explanations for how to do "ruler quilting" with ruler templates and the ruler foot for domestic machines. You make it so easy to achieve these professional-looking results, Leah. I like your choice of graphic echo lines, I agree it does enhance the piecing of this tiny mini quilt.
I am a longarm quilter and so am a novice when it comes to quilting on the domestic machine. It is exciting to hear that Bernina has a ruler foot available. I did not know that. I enjoy your videos. Thank you for making the instructions so clear.
Thank you for your kind comment! Yes, they've just come out with a new ruler foot for newer Bernina machines. Just check with a Bernina dealer for details. I'm really hoping they'll make one compatible with older machines as well.
I'm glad I found you! I just received my Bernina 72 ruler foot and I am left handed! I plan to watch more of your videos and buy your rulers!! Thank you for this video. It looks fun, but I need to get some quilts made!!
Hello Leah! You have mentioned that you have an older Bennina sewing machine…..do your feet attachments either screw into place or click into place? I have an old ELNA which a screw in foot mechanism which does not help me with the quarter inch seam allowance! I am really interested to hear your answer…I don’t really want to buy a new sewing machine purely for a quarter inch seam allowance…..love your video, so easy to follow.
This is a collaboration quilt with Stephanie Soebbing. You can find her tutorial and a kit to piece the quilt right here - www.quiltaddictsanonymous.com/2017/01/stippin-mini-quilt-video-tutorial/
I'm using the Bernina low shank adapter and a low shank ruler foot. Works perfectly, just make sure to follow the instructions in this video about not dropping the needle if the foot is up.
so cool!i very much want to try using a ruler to help with straight linesi found my walking foot to be overwhelming! there just so much going on with all the parts, i get distracted from watching where the needle is going
Yes, for quilting exactly like I'm quilting in this video you could use any straight edge ruler. I like using these Dresden Plate rulers because they're small and fit nicely in my hand while I'm quilting.
@@LeahDay It feels like no matter what I do, my ruler slips/moves. Even grippy types. Any tips? I'm trying to be conscious of not pushing too hard against the ruler foot and moving it. Thank you!

I have a brother innovis v5 can you tell me if they do this ruler foot please
You'll need to check with your dealer or Brother to see if they make a ruler foot for this machine.
You don't need to turn the block, just reposition the ruler!
Yeah, I know. That's habit! I'll have to do a lot more quilting to get used to not rotating the quilt so much.
