Greek, Roman, African, European, American (North and South), along with Oriental lores and myths are in their own realms, which they are to stay there. This is gonna be a long comment so forgive me if I wasted anyone's time. I've read through some "Rise of the Guardians" fanfics before and there are some people who put in new characters like the leprechaun, the cupid, a mermaid, including the seven deadly sins as the newest villains in their own stories. Once I even saw an author made a new guardian for her own fanfic. Most of the new characters I saw in fanfics were good, if not amazing and I always wondered if the producers who made the movie ever thought about making a sequel with new characters. Also, the movie does have a book series by the author William Joyce called "Guardians of Childhood". It has a few similarities and differences from the movie, and it's the best book series to read ever (despite it being for kids even though it has some dark parts). There are a few characters that I could recall from the books, and they are: "Mother Nature" who is the daughter of Pitch Black, an old but powerful wizard named "Ombric Shalazar" who is also known as "Father Time", a girl named "Katherine" who is the guardian of storytelling and also known as "Mother Goose", and an immortal boy named "Nightlight" who was the Man in the Moon's bodyguard when he was an infant and is actually Jack Frost but with a totally different personality in the books. There are many others though I'm unable to recall all of them. Also, in the books it shows the true backstory of the Man in the Moon and how he ended up making the Guardians. If DreamWorks is ever interested in making a sequel, prequel or a TV series for RotG, they should add in the characters who weren't mentioned in the movie but only in the book series.
my theory is in rise of the guardians 2 we meet Mr. Moon and Cupid caz the guardians need to experience their true love instead of the children's. also find out that the guardians was created when Mr. Moon and Cupid first met when hearing a boy who shared no light sing a song that only brought Mr. Moon and Cupid together. the boy's name was Gene. Mr. Moon gave jack his powers seeing how good he is however he did not think about the repercussions about this from Cupids point of view when creating someone not only like the guardians but a person like Jack and because of jack's behavior Cupid took the responsibility to choose who Jack would marry and when found the girl Mr. Moon gave her a similar power to Jack's so she could withstand the cold however just like Jack she hasn't unlocked her full power potential especially since she kept it under taps for years. we really need more of these movies.
