Gear changing got better as the drive progressed, these gearboxes are all slightly different in the way they engage/disengage the gears and it can take a while to get used to different vehicles
Lovely looking and sounding bus! Modern stuff hasn't got an character but this has got stacks of the stuff! The sound of these old Leylands takes me back to being a kid. If we needed to use the bus it was almost always an International or an Olympian, good times! Greetings from the UK!
Hi Skylined, thanks mate, glad you enjoyed the video, totally agree, love the older buses , these Leyland Leopards do sound great and are fun to drive 🚌
Excellent video, and some great skilled driving today Nick! I always love to see these magnificent buses being restored. They're a great part of Dunedin and New Zealand's transport history. Keep up the great work! I always like watching your videos! I also have a question. Will there ever be a chance where you get to drive that ex Ritchies bus in the background, because that would make for an interesting video. A Go Bus driver operating a Ritchies bus!
Thank you for watching Dennis. The gear box is completely air controlled pneumocylic that was specifically designed by British Leyland , they did also bring out a electro - pneumatic version too which you will see in the video below ⬇️ th-cam.com/video/AOeryqsHQ2A/w-d-xo.html Or if that doesn’t work video is 1981 VR Bristol Double Decker. Both were and still are excellent semi automatic transmissions.
Hi Nick, This is great! Another Heritage bus you can tick off your list, I wonder what one you'll be driving next? Maybe the Royal Tiger? Have you driven any of the MAN's in the fleet? I would really like to see one of those.I always look forward to your upcoming videos! 😄👍
Gidday Sean, thanks for watching mate, I’ve been enjoying your channel too 🚌👍🏻. Yes the Royal tiger is on the list. Keep an I out over the next couple of weeks for a great MAN video
that engine sound is celestial.
great to see someone driving a pneumo properly, not flat changing like some do ... love the sound of a 680 on song :-)
Hi Andrew, thanks mate, they are beautiful sounding motor aren’t they, fun to drive👍🏻🚌. Cheers for watching 🙂

What is semi auto gearbox? Differences between auto and semi auto gearbox?
Manual gear change, but no clutch pedal, it has a fluid clutch.
Hi 👋 thanks for watching, just to add the gearbox in this instance is completely air controlled.
