yk something quite interesting is a fair amount of B58s in Australia are ZF 4SPD auto. there wernt many manuel ones in australia so definitely cool to hear a manual volvo B58' that engine sounds really nice as well good video!!
Thanks for commenting on the video, they are a great sounding motor . The 6 speed manual goes very well, actually a ZF too , apparently retro fitted to replace the original Volvo 5 speed manual s , according to another viewer and former driver .
Used to go to school in one like this (but Plaxton body). Built like a tank.. we had an accident in it on one journey. The car we hit was a write-off, the coach had a broken indicator lens! Gave many years of reliable service; in fact I can't ever remember it breaking down. Nice to see a manual gearbox, everything I drive now is fully automatic.
Hi guys. Ex Newman's Steerologist. I have driven 262 (Mary Ann) a lot in the early 80s, Then 2 or 3 times again around 2022/23 for the last owner. Mike Boyton. It was no different too drive tan it was all those years ago. And this is a COACH not a bus.. Big difference. Thanks for the video Nick. Look forward to more.
It's a lovely bus to drive. I had the privilege of driving it all last Sunday on the final cruise ship shuttle. I had a lot of positive comments about it, including one fellow whose old man drove for Newmans back in the day.
@@busdrivernick No, we've not met before. I was at the farm the same day and briefly drove the HIno with Anthony and Andrew. I was leaving when you returned in said Hino.
Newman Coachlines used to be on road nationally and Newman Airways didn't last long under the same company. Used to be public transport contract with ORC since deregulations.
Hi , thanks for watching, yes you are correct 👍🏻, I have found out since it is a ZF 6 speed .And they were changed as you say because Volvo 5 speed was no good. Thanks for info 🚌👍🏻

Hi flatside3250, thanks for watching . It’s a lovely bus to drive, lucky you getting it for the day 👍🏻😃. Do we know each other ?

Hi there from Otago! I own a b58 but the diff has failed, wondering if you would be kind enough to share ya secrets!?
Are you sure that’s not a ZF gearbox? It operates just like I remember them. Original B58’s had Volvo’s K19 5 Speed box in which wasn’t the best.
