Does the Lord's Prayer restrict us as to exactly what to ask for and who to pray to, and how to pray? Stephen was full of the Holy Spirit, when he was being stoned to death, and he prayed to Jesus. Prayer is when you are asking, or pleading, or requesting something from God. When Jesus was on earth, many people came to him, asking for salvation and forgiveness and daily needs, and worshipped him. And Jesus never refused their request or worship because they didn't first make their request to the Father. In prayer, you can praise and thank God. Did Jesus refuse praise and thanks because they didn't first send their praise and thanks to the Father? Many came to Jesus requesting healing. Jesus never demanded they talk to the Father first, before. He would heal them. We go through Jesus, to get to the Father. We don't go through the Father to get to Jesus. But because of Jesus, we can talk to the Father, but we aren't restricted to only talking to the Father. If that were true, nobody could have talked to Jesus while he was on earth.
