  • This is a walk through video of our renovated $200 find on Marketplace. It's a 2001 twenty four foot Salem fifth wheel that was ready for the junkyard. We took about six months and $4500 to bring it back to life, better than new in my opinion.
    Some items used in the Camper:
    Kitchen Sink: amzn.to/45Cc6FM
    Interlocking waterproof tile: amzn.to/3JudIa5
    Peel and Stick wallpaper: amzn.to/3YXgDxX
    Bathroom Rectangular Vessel Sink: amzn.to/40oAR4S
    Hoimpro Black Waterfall Spout: amzn.to/3lmGpxX
    RecPro Stainless Stove and Vent Hood: amzn.to/46Vd7YB
    Cabinet Hardware: amzn.to/47Iva5E

    I’m in the process of remodeling a 2006 Jayco. It feels like we are trying to build a house inside of a closet. It’s a long, tedious process but through perseverance we feel it will be worth it. Your remolding video was beautiful and gave our confidence in tackling this monstrous project. Hopefully we are on the path of developing a beautiful RV home as yours is. Thanks for sharing so many awesome ideas.

      It does seem to take forever at times (and many times we would ask ourselves why we took on the project) but when you are done it will be worth it! If you get stuck on anything during your remodel or have questions on how we did anything, don't hesitate to ask.

      If you decide to do any painting, I highly recommend using the Zinzer BIN primer. It is a little more expensive (around $80 a gallon) but we have found it sticks best to the cabinets and RV walls. Thank you so much for the wonderful comment!

    • @parkedredesign
      @parkedredesign  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. I will try in the future to include that. In my pop up camper roof repair video, I show how I did the ceiling panels. For this project, since I put up new panels I just used the wiring from the old lights and cut the holes where I wanted them. The tricky part of the dimmable lights is you have to have a separate ground wire to make the lights dim. Again, I will try to make a video on that.

    Seriously I keep coming back to watch this video, $200!? And it looks like that now, truly amazing...question, you said after towing it you like towing a 5th wheel ...did you have a travel trailer before this? We are thinking about changing to a 5th wheel also....

    • @parkedredesign
      @parkedredesign  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes we did have a travel trailer before this one. I liked towing the fifth wheel because I didn't get as much of the sway as I did with our pull behind. We have since got a new (Used) fifth wheel that we like even better because we found one with a full size bathroom. Stay tuned for the before and after video of that one. And thanks for the comments!

    Wow very nice!!! Question we found a 5th wheel that has some damage on the outside propane compartment and damage to the sidewall area about 9" by 6". It's not a hole but the obvious hit something. If the frame and the inside are good is it worth repairing? No water damage so it seems like it would be fairly easy to repair.

    • @parkedredesign
      @parkedredesign  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you, I believe it would be, especially if the price was right and there is no water damage. Water damage is where it can be a little costly to repair. Is it aluminum siding or fiberglass? Aluminum siding is a little easier to repair in my opinion, but both can be done.

    I'm rebuilding a Class C 28' rv. My husband passed in Feb and I'm almost 68 trying to do this on my own. I am very interested in the sink size you got for the kitchen. I clicked on the link you have and is it really 16" wide? It appears wider then that. it's just going to be me living in the RV so I am realizing I don't need a huge one. I want a farmhouse sink. Beautiful redo you guys did. Oh I see that sink is for the bathroom. What size is your kitchen sink please?

    • @parkedredesign
      @parkedredesign  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the compliment and sorry for your loss. The kitchen sink we used was 23x20x9. It is a little larger but we like it because of the cutting board and colander it came with. I edited the video and put the link to the one we bought. I noticed it has gone up in price since we bought it. They do have smaller sizes of this sink and we used the 15x17x9 in another camper we are redoing now. They have a few other sizes as well if you don't need it that big. Have fun with your remodel and if you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.

    Awesome job looks totally new. Did y have to replace the roof too?I'm working on a 2006 28 ft. Bunk house rip out all the flooring and have added some aluminum bracing also have to do the roof never have done before any advice on roof?

    • @parkedredesign
      @parkedredesign  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the floors were harder than the roof. For the floors there should be lag screws that tie the walls to the floor underneath. As far as the roof, it's not too bad. I recommend laying the whole roof out, then roll back half and do half at a time if that makes sense. I do have a video on how I did the roof on another camper I have. It also helps if it is a little warmer out as the rubber roof rolls easier. Oh and yes I did have to replace the roof to include making new trusses on the fifth wheel.

    • @parkedredesign
      @parkedredesign  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank You! 90% of what I buy I get from Amazon because I like the free shipping and easy returns. I bought both the stove and vent hood as well as the cabinet hardware from there. I bought the stove pre covid and it was just under $500 for both. (I got the 17" model, which they make a larger 21" as well.) I just looked and now it's around $600. I edited the video and put the links to the hardware and the stove in the description. You could check the Recpro site directly for the stove to see if it is less expensive if you buy direct. Also if you do change the hardware you have to measure the hole width as it is not always universal fit.

    What did you do, and what did you use to repaint the old cabinets?

    • @parkedredesign
      @parkedredesign  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I rebuilt the bottom cabinets and kept the top cabinets. I used 1 x 2 and 1/8" plywood to build the bottom cabinets. To paint the cabinets I highly recommend using Zinsser BIN Primer. It is a little more expensive like $75 a can, but I find you don't have to do any prep like sanding the cabinets before hand and I have not had any issues with the paint scratching off. We then use Valspar Cabinet and Furniture paint (Satin) for the cabinets. I am currently remodeling another fifth wheel and will be posting a video on how I rebuilt one of the cabinets in it.

    What brand of paint did you use to paint the grey cabinets? Also, what was the name of the grey? I am also wondering where you purchased the shower tile, the wallpaper, sink and faucet in the bathroom. Thanks!

    • @parkedredesign
      @parkedredesign  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We got the paint from Lowes. We used the Valspar Cabinet and Furniture paint and the expensive Zinsser BIN primer. Using the more expensive primer we did not have to scuff the cabinets and it has held up well. I am still searching for the exact grey color we used. I have misplaced the can, as soon as I find it I will post the color. As far as the other items I got them all from amazon. I edited the video comments and posted the links of exactly what we used. As far as the wall paper it is peel and stick. we found with the heat and cooling the seams would start to un peel so we had to tack white wood strips on the seams (You can see the strips in the video). The bathroom tiles we stuck on the walls using Extreme heavy duty liquid nails and a waterproof clear silicone in-between the tiles. It has held up so far for two years. If you have any other questions please ask, and thanks for the comment!

    • @parkedredesign
      @parkedredesign  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I finally found the grey color it was a Sherwin Williams color from Lowes. The color name is Thunder Clap HGSW1492. As I said in my previous comment we used the Valspar cabinet and furniture paint.

    How did you do the countertops?

    • @parkedredesign
      @parkedredesign  6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I used MDF, paint and epoxy to make them. I have a video on how I did it here: th-cam.com/video/yIAMU1lSO9E/w-d-xo.htmlsi=5F2yUZD1Udud8o4H. If the link doesn't work you can scroll through my videos on my channel. One thing I will note is in the fifth wheel I used an epoxy I got from Lowes and the countertops came out with a little bit of a yellow tinge. The counter tops I did in the how to video I used an epoxy called super clear which came out better I think.
