Angelina Jordan (born 10.1.2006), is a fantastic, young Norwegian vocalist with a catalogue of more than 150 songs and 70 artists from almost every genre. Her roots are in jazz and influenced by the greatest. In 2014 she won Norway´s Got Talent at the age of 8, performing George Gerschwin´s "Summertime" and in 2020 got the Golden Buzzer at the American Got Talent The Champions. She has not yet entered her professional career as her family want´s her to finish her school education first, but she has been very active on social media and giving numerous concerts and live performances on stages all around the world. She is a big humanitarian and the story on her always performing with bare feet is told in her book "Between Two Hearts", by which she is the youngest published author in Norway at age 9. Her ability to convey emotions and tell the story in the lyrics is unparallelled and while respecting originals songs and artists, she given her own take and twists to all the songs she performs. From a very early age, she has been doing her own arrangements and also written and composed her own music. Republic Records signed her in 2020 as a high priority artist and as the Covid pandemic eases, she returned to the stage in the summer of 2022, giving four concerts in her home country, Norway. This concert in Sandefjord, 10.7.2022 was the last of them.
"The House of the Rising Sun" is a traditional folk song, sometimes called "Rising Sun Blues". It tells of a person's life gone wrong in the city of New Orleans. Many versions also urge a sibling or parents and children to avoid the same fate. The most successful commercial version, recorded in 1964 by the British rock band The Animals, was a number one hit on the UK Singles Chart and in the US and Canada. As a traditional folk song recorded by an electric rock band, it has been described as the "first folk rock hit".
The song was first collected in Appalachia in the 1930s, but probably has its roots in traditional English folk song. It is listed as number 6393 in the Roud Folk Song Index. (Wikipedia)

Been working my way through the posts from all the concerts on this foray back to Norway and yours finally (and probably unwillingly) got suggested by the almighty tubus algorithm. And happy it happened, as your angle and sound is great! Eventually I will do all of your uploads as time allows... One suggestion from my own preferences is to put at least one of these vids on your home page...perhaps not everyone would click over to videos after the empty page. But congrats on capturing so much of the concert..

she's got a great voice, but from my perspective she sometimes slows down songs a little too much. Some songs, at least to me, sound better when they are sung a little faster. But, hey, what do I know, I can't even hum in tune :-)

It´s a matter of taste, I think
By slowing down, she makes space for ornamentation and accentuating the lyrics. It´s a hard job and I can agree that she does not hit it on point all the times.....but often enough for me :)
