I enjoy how good she sounds and thank you for finding this clip. I didn't know Arsenio had such good taste. She sounds as good live as in studio. I never get tired of her.
She absolutely beautiful and one of the best female vocalist ever how could anyone in this world not see her struggles and not help her I really miss her and that voice!
Phyllis was a fantastic comic to be so incredibly beautiful❤ Met her after a concert ar Rutgers Universitu❤Her bestie, the great Regina Belle, was thete as well.❤ Love and miss her so much; she made such a great impact on all of the women in my family.❤RIH Queen❤
Love the clearer version of this thanks. She basically skips a whole verse at the beginning which is why she slapped the mic like that. If you didn't know Phyllis personally, you wouldn't have noticed.
Honey she didn't miss basically a whole verse she mixed up the 2 beginning sentences after "when you're in love with love"part with the ending sentences in the first verse
Phyllis was a trip and a half!! I saw her in D.C. at this small jazz club called "Blues Alley." My friends and I were seated right next to the stage so close that my foot was resting on the stage. One of my friends said, "Girl, Phyllis is eyeballing your chicken fingers!" All of a sudden, she took her large hand and swiped in my plate, grabbed 1 of my chicken fingers, and KEPT DOING HER SET AS SHE ATE!!! 😂😂😂
When I saw the background of the video before I played it I knew it was Arsenio Hall. I truly miss these days the music, people, clothes and hair just all around the best times.
Phyllis was too real for her own good. Started talking about her private dating business in public, and then it kept on going and spinning around her weight. I don't think she left this interview feeling good. I bet the demons attacked - just judging by the expression @09:03, where she went somewhere inside her mind and her expression revealed muted sadness. Wish she woulda found Jesus.
There's always "reality" TV with Whitney and Bobby airing their duurty laundry on "Being Bobby Brown" if you're missing any real truth! Whitney and Phyllis were on the same Arista label after all. Phyllis just simply refused to sell-out and sell her soul like Whitney did for Clive. Whitney was crying "I'm going home to meet Jesus!" the day of her demise. Phyllis (with her own real boobs, teeth and non-nippy/nappy hair when exposed), often mentioned in interviews "My voice was not honed in any church". Even that bath Whitney and Bobby took in the River Jordan didn't help either of them......then she took her final bath at the Beverly Hills Hilton with a hole in her septum from coke abuse. Phyllis knew what she was doing though. Nothing "accidental" mentioned about Phyllis'suicide. Just sayin'.....
@@robk9685 You mean to tell me that Jesus wasn't the answer for Whitney? Oh, of course it wasn't. Because being a follower of Jesus and the entertainment business are completely at odds with each other. I'm just reading the story of Rick James, his autobiography, "Glow", and there Rick tells you how he tried to record a gospel album and turn his life around. The music industry basically told him "you either sing secular music about sex, or you're out". He couldn't resist and he sold his soul. But Jesus is real. And every buddy needs him.
@@exysness Have many friends, including Phyllis that I met in '91. You see, I have REAL friends that I interact with at least weekly. They're not Facebook "friends". How's your ex "ex"? Hilarious.

What do you mean ? Please explain....
Why? @Chris Rankine
Yeah, I'm a massive Phyllis fan, but this was not a good interview, it kept going back right to the heart of her insecurities. No good.
Wow she was very likable
She was so gorgeous and fun. She was way too hard on herself.😢
