Aim and Objectives are two different things and are often confused… Aim is ‘long term’ and ‘overall’ so at 11.00 her objective is ‘to be successful’ is in fact the AIM. To achieve that aim you need a series of objectives eg have my breakfast because it helps to make me be healthy! “Many students find it difficult to understand the difference between aims and objectives. However, in the academic context there is a clear distinction between these terms. Aim = what you hope to achieve. Objective = the action(s) you will take in order to achieve the aim.”

I've read the book and own it. It's good BUT most of it does remind me of Uta Hagen. The 12 steps seems to be derived from AA's 12 steps. I feel there's a danger of using acting as therapy by using your own personal experiences and going through trauma.
I was literally thinking the same thing. That would've been my question. What is the difference between the two techniques? I also agree with using acting as therapy, I think it all depends on the actor. I think those who've healed from their trauma and can successfully speak to it as a lived experience and not a living experience, these techniques would be great for. The suggestion of therapy is necessary though so that we can disengage from the role mentally-safe because not all actors can.
@@rachelannjerome I totally agree. As someone who's been through trauama's you definately have a point. I used to bot be able to stop cryig when I would think of those trauama's, whether it is in a conversation or in acting or dancing. it would mess up the rest of my dancing routine for example. You have to be healed first bedore you can tap into those emotions so you can remember and feel those emotions but also be at peace with it after the conversation, dance choreo or actig scene. Otherwise its sheer terror, you're reliving it without guidence or tools to help yourself. On the other hand I do think people who have lived become the best actors. You can see when someone is familiar with a certain emotion and its authentic to see.

Agree. My biggest issue with the book is that it is downright confusing at times. I may be dinged for this, but not every scene has an objective where you are trying to affect the other character. Most of the times, you are just listening while your opposite character talks. I think the advice should be taken with a grain of salt.
