@MakeWithMiles , I _JUST_ watched you design & build an original nightstand on your Winter break from college . . . and now I’m watching you at 12yo building a lovely boat! Fantastic 😁
I recently found this channel and its so crazy to see how much Miles has done and grown. He should be very proud of himself and I'm excited to see what else he can do.
I love it when I come across a video and they say things like "I'm not a pro" or "go easy on me" and I know without a doubt that when I look at the comments they are all positive, supportive and encouraging. Well done, well done!
Now this is what young men should be doing... Older boys working with the younger ones teaching with the parents support of course... All I can say is excellent work & props to all that were involved...!
Excellent job young man! I'm 73 and while I have built plenty of things in my life, but never a boat, or anything that big. You are off to a good start on your life.
Kid You are an inspiration! I learned something a long time ago about doing stuff. It’s supposed to be fun and when it isn’t fun stop. Keep up the GREAT WORK!
Dude I'm very impressed. I can't believe how good it turned out. Well done. I am a carpenter with 20 years experience and I'm scared of attempting my first boat project. I can't believe what a nice job you have done. Many congratulations
Might just be me, but I often wonder what type of person watches a great video like this and gives it a thumbs down....? These guys did a phenomenal job with their level of experience!!! To the thumbs down people, I’m sorry your life is miserable and you might want to look for professional help with your issues.
I've always tried to figure out how to build a boat for my kids. I tried several plans but always got stuck along the way. I'm glad I found this t.co/uM8hFDqZOp It has made the work become as easy and simple as I never thought it will be.
I agree probably someone jealous that they couldn't do this. These kids are using these tools better than several adults in videos where they make things
Other than I would call that a skiff, great job. I think of a rowboat as a round bilge boat like a wide canoe. Shaped like a canoe, we call it a peapod style and if it has a square transom, then just a rowboat. Skiffs are use mostly here in Maine for tending a larger boat, shuttling crew back and forth from the mooring of the larger boat. They are generally not that great for rowing long distances, however, they do go good with an outboard, because they plane easily. A rowboat shaped more like a canoe or sailboat, rows effortless and easily glides through the water. It is designed for long distance rowing. My dad, back in the days before outboards, had a 15 foot beauty, that he would row for miles for commercial fishing and ferrying people back and forth between the mainland and islands, etc. Rowboats, will work fine with a small outboard, but not a larger outboard because they are not designed to plane like a flat bottom skiff.
This is absolutely brilliant. You’re already a man. The fact that you have made the boat and done the video too, shows what a wonderful young guy you are. It’s a huge credit to you. Go safe, and keep up the good work.
i have no doubt at all that you could easily become a master boat builder in years to come . The greatest thing is to do what you enjoy for a living. Keep up the good work kid !!
Not exactly how I'd have done it , but it's a good job. There are a lot of grown men on TH-cam that could learn a lot for you guys. Good luck in you future builds.
It is very likely Miles' dad is is an engineer/scientist and/or a teacher. Kudos to his dad and, of course, kudos to Miles. And, of course, kudos to Miles' mom for, well, being a mom and the enormous responsibility and endless amount of work that entails. Want great engineers? Have them build projects like this for, say, half of the time when they are in school. Sitting in classrooms learning theoretically is important, but so is hands-on (or "computer-on") training. Also, this practical training should start when children are young, say 5 years old. After all, engineers are born to build. They are easily identified at preschools. They are the ones mesmerized by the building blocks. I always admired those kids, though I never had the slightest interest in building anything with my hands. But I have given my ideas to engineers and watched them turn my abstract ideas into concrete reality. Engineers amaze me.
My parents are awesome! They really support all my interests. I hope my videos can help inspire other young people to start making and learning new things. Thanks for watching!
Very nice job--congratulations! Building boats is one of the most gratifying activities out there and you should be proud of this one. Your video is over three years old and I hope you've built a few more boats since. Ignore the dislikes; they've probably never built anything.
What a fantastic project and achievement, congratulations. I'd love to make this with my daughter when she a little older. I only cringed watching your fingers so close to that table saw blade. Use a push stick, you'd have had lots of spare wood around. A beautiful boat is useless without fingers. Other than that, I smiled throughout this. Well done again.
I kind of wish there was a comparison shot of the same rifle and same round hitting say a truck engine block or something. Or a comparison round for round video of a small car eating the same ammunition. Just to really illustrate how much destruction went down range. As impressive as it is to see a lock get beaten up like that - seeing a mid size pickup be disassembled by the same rounds would have been super fun.
Great job 👏 I built small dorys when I was your age with my dad they row really nicely and still simple to build. Keep on building and doing videos. You'll do good without a doubt
I tip my hat to you for making this boat. I always wanted to try to make my own but never did and you as a kid did it. Great stuff just subbed hopping to see more from you.
Haha thank you! Yes that is something that i regret to this day, the battery of the camera died right as I was going into the water, and I never re-filmed it. :(
Fantastic watching you complete this fun project. Hope you get years of great use from it - & that the skills you have gained stand you in good stead for future 'adventures'. :-)
Good job kiddo! 63 year old, about to attempt my first boat. It looks like yours but it's 12'. I want to put a 6.5 longtail motor on it. I hope mine turns out as well.

Where can one get the plan for this boat. I like it has more than just plywood and glue.
Very nice job--congratulations! Building boats is one of the most gratifying activities out there and you should be proud of this one. Your video is over three years old and I hope you've built a few more boats since. Ignore the dislikes; they've probably never built anything.
