    Beautiful - thank you. You have a German name and egg painting and decorating are part of your cultural heritage.

    Oooooh, thanks for the painters tape tip to remove the white layers and "painting" with water to get the pattern piece that you want. All of your turned out great!

    I just love that napkin & I've been using it on everything. lol It makes beautiful oyster shells.Thought I'd try something different for Fall last yr, so I made some chinoiserie pumpkins. I also painted a couple of smaller pumpkins a dark blue to match w gold stems & I have to say, I was very impressed. They looked so pretty! Just got my faux eggs in the mail so I thought I'd use those napkins on them too. So glad to see yours! They're beautiful. Gonna use my faux chocolate bunnies I spray painted yrs ago w the eggs & a few other goodies to make an Easter vignette. Should be fun. Enjoyed your video!💙🤍💙

    In my previous message I asked were I could get the blue floral napkins. I found out that they are by Caspari, and the best price with shipping is about $15., to my chagrin as a senior citizen of low income. Disappointing to get excited about something to make just to discover it is beyond reach. (Such is life!) But I did enjoy seeing you create the beautiful chinoiserie look. Wonderful tutorial with helpful tips!😊

    • @craftingwithgretchen
      @craftingwithgretchen  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's hard to hear. Is it because of shipping? I see they are between 5-8 dollars online. I often buy them when on sale, or find them in local shops to avoid shipping. Sorry you were frustrated. I don't know if you have Amazon prime, and I have not used these so o don't know the quality, but they are pretty and much more reasonable. amzn.to/3uj0Pft

      You might enjoy asking a fb friend if they would like to exchange napkins every now and then. I lived in Germany for twenty years and just retired back to the states a year ago and as a crafter I collected a lot of beautiful napkins from Germany and Poland and a few from England. I have a lot of whole packs. I’m not sure what shipping would cost, but I wouldn’t think it would be much.as napkins aren’t heavy. But you could make a package of say two or three napkins of maybe five or more different packages and swap them. That way both you and your friend would get a whole new variety of napkins to use! If you don’t like some then pass them on to another friend you swap with. It’s fun to see what other people buy. My sister bought me some beautiful napkins on her last visit to the Oregon coast. You just never know where you might find them.

      Ok so go on Google and type in "blue print caspari napkin dupe" and you'll find something surely. I saw a beautiful pack of these scalloped ones as well as different blue patterns similar to the one she used. Hope I helped 🤷‍♀️

    Love your stuff. Do you dilute your varnish ? I suppose your not using modge podge. ? You find it harder to work with ?

    • @craftingwithgretchen
      @craftingwithgretchen  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      First, thanks so much. I do use mod podge sometimes but I have grown to love duraclear so much it is pretty much my go to. I love the consistency and the finish it leaves (and it is stronger:more durable than mod podge) I don’t dilute it, just pour it into a big glass jar so it is easier to work with and I’m not putting it in an artist pallet. Hope this is helpful.

      I thought varnish was for the top coat to seal it. I've never seen anyone use it instead of mod podge. I'll try this it looks easier thanks!

    These are just beautiful! How do you make your egg stand up on end so you can work with it?

    • @craftingwithgretchen
      @craftingwithgretchen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For most because they are not heavy enough I place them on an egg carton with Saran Wrap over it and work on one half at a time. Just have to be super careful to avoid and clean up drips.

    • @craftingwithgretchen
      @craftingwithgretchen  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely Mod Podge works, I just prefer using DuraClear. It is thinner and I think creates a more polished result.

    I had the plastic egg and I tried to do this. But it didn't work out that well. Do have a trick I could use?

    • @craftingwithgretchen
      @craftingwithgretchen  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The trick with plastic is to use very little varnish/mod podge. It sits on the surface so makes the napkins wrinkle easily. Hope that helps!
