    I haven't been this excited about the USMNT since 2009 when we beat the greatest Spain squad ever. It feels good.

      Pepi actually had a pretty bad finish. He was fortunate that it went in. However, it's infinitely superior to Sargent's.

      The face I made at 0:40 is when o came to this exact realization. They’re looking like a more experienced team playing on their front foot and not on their heels like before. Playing comfortably in tight spaces and using it to their advantage.

      That first goal was absolutely lovely build up play. Decisive in the final third like we haven't seen in awhile. Really fun to watch.

    People expect usa to play like Argentina when poch has only been in charge for like 2 weeks and maybe 36hrs of practice all together, time will tell if usa will be great with poch or not

      you could see a bit of change in the way they play in the beginning of the match but it will take some time to get the old style of play out of their system

      You honestly believe the USA could be great because Pochettino is the coach? He is a huge improvement of Berhalter, but the US does not have the players to be great. At best he could help them stop going backwards.

    Peru and Colombia would've loved to participate in this game. As we all may be very aware of the poverty and the prejudices that they would to deal with in their everyday lives. It's about time they get the recognition that they so rightfully deserve to have.

      @@violintegral It has nothing to do with giving Pochettino a chance. I am quite sure he is a huge improvement over Berhalter, but there is only so much you can do as a coach.
      As for this game being an improvement, it is not. This game was a friendly, and as such, quite meaningless other than for experimentation and allowing other players a chance to get experience on the national team. You cannot compare a tournament with a friendly.

      People are getting carried away because they think Pochettino is some kind of miracle worker. They might want to check with Chelsea and Tottenham fans about that. This was not an impressive performance by any stretch of the imagination. They were desperately clinging to a 1-0 lead against Panama, playing at home, right up until the end of the game.

      Less than 2 weeks. Two hours a day so only 10 hours of training before they played their first game. People need to relax. They played better. Still need work obviously.

My comment was about the USMNT and how no coach is going to make the US a great team because we don't have the players. That's what I mean about expecting miracles from him. He can't make mediocre players great no matter how good he is.

If you watch a lot of these players with their club teams the talent is there to be much better than they were under Burhalter. Give it some time and you’ll see significant improvement

    He needs time. The team did not perform much different and it will not for a bit. He just took charge. And if we account for the fact that he sees them only once every 3 months or so, we may not see real change until next year

      IIRC lots of Italians moved to Argentina in the late 1800s and early 1900s. That’s why there are so many Italian last names (like Pochettino) even though Argentina’s main language is Spanish.
