Flowering Vines with ideas for a Trellis

  • Moonvine on twine starts at 2:30. These are four tries I've made over the years of flowering vines. From the very large to rather small. I usually try to grow things that bloom most of the season which is tough for some vines. Mandevilla is my favorite so far and I will be growing two of them on the same trellis this year. The moon vine was a challenge because of its size but my makeshift twine setup took care of it. If the hybridizers come up with a clematis vine that continuously blooms I will have at least two of them but until that day, their spring only blooming, which looks great, isn't enough for me.

I have my white mandevilla growing in a large pot with 6 green bean plants and petunias along with a large leaf trellis. Yesterday being a hot day they were wilted. Normally they are watered every single day and the blooms on the mandevilla are actually staying longer than a day. I understand that this is an annual plant which I am making plans to take it inside at the end of the season to use for next year. I paid $7 for it on clearance at Lowe's and half of it was dried out so I definitely want to save it for next year. Didn't realize they grow that long. Thanks for the info.

Having it with beans is something I haven't heard of before. I tried bringing one in and it certainly survived but it didn't look the same the next year. I should have asked the people at Proven Winners why that might be.

@@NOVAGardening I was just throwing stuff together in this big pot and it looks gorgeous especially against the large leaf trellis.
