Great content. It’s impressive to see how healthy both of you and Nico have been, given the intensity of your training. Hope you guys have another record breaking year.
Just ran a 16:47 yesterday, i rolled ankle pretty bad, but it was a pr and its only the beginning of the season i hope to go sub 16 this year, im a sophomore.
Thanks. I like the electromagnetic stimulation tool. In fact, I am getting one of those PEMF Matts. And your comments about hydration and sleep are totally spot on.
Back in my day the mantra was harder work which was wrong. By race day you were totally burned out. Learning from teaching myself later in life, when running I could do great training every other day, giving myself a day off every other day. I didn't feel so fatigued and was a lot stronger when running.
6:28. there should be no limit on your sleep but there should be a limit to your minimum amount. you want to sleep as much as possible with the highest quality possible

Good Luck this season L&L. Found this video to be useful. Last week and this week have been a busy week for me, since I am packing and moving to TX on Sep 26, which is my bday. Will be busy for six months since I will be working full time at my family business as an intern. One reason I am moving to TX are rent and living expenses are expensive in CA.
This is great information that I will be using to help recovery! I assume stretching is something you guys also do regularly? Also, what is the song called in your video "We Scored 16 Points at the California State Meet!! NEWBURY PARK" during 5:35 - 7:11?
Wow great video! At 4:23 ish you mention how spreading water consumption helps the body but no support is added and I feel like it would be a stronger claim if evidence was given
Stumbled across this channel just recently and found it so inspiring and amazing. I compete in triathlons but have always loved running over everything else. But i’ve suffered w multiple stress fractures in my shins and was wondering what would be the best way to recover and prevent it from happening again?
Hello! I noticed how you mentioned you use Maurten's Caffein gel before hard workouts or runs. What brand/form of caffein-if it all-do you use before races? Roughly how much do you use? Thanks in advance.
About your tip on drinking water, some days I'm really good at getting in my water, but others, I'm lucky to get a single 16oz glass in. It's strange to me, but my mother always had an issue with drinking water in the sense that she hardly ever drinks it yet is perfectly hydrated. It seems to trend in her side of the family to feel and function fine with very minimum water intake and to have zero signs or direct test/examination results that tell us we are dehydrated. I am curious if this is a poor habit our bodies have adjusted to at a young age, or if there's more to it - something diagnosable.
I used to feel the same way, and i would only drink water during dinner and after runs in the summer, and I wouldn’t feel dehydrated. I started drinking half my body weight in ounces and soon it felt normal to drink this much more water than I used to before. Sometimes i added flavored electrolytes to make the water taste better, but it didn’t take to long to get used to normal water. Sorry for throwing this paragraph at you so late.
Hi Lex and Leo young I am a huge fan of yawls channel I just had a couple of questions I was wanting to ask y’all want kind of Protein powder would you recommend also what kind of electrolyte drink would you recommend to replenish your electrolytes after you run and also in the video I saw some Cliff bars would y’all recommend those for protein bars thanks
Great tips! I totally understand and agree with all of these. One thing you maybe should have added is the importance of stretching after runs and warming up before runs. Great vid as usual!
Awesome content guys, any thoughts on PT/stretch routines? I pulled my soleus a while ago and then started stretching like crazy every day which seemed to help Insanely much with my injury and recovery in general
I'm not Leo or Lex but I do run a 4:12 mile so my input might be useful, I personally think active stretching before a run and static later in the day after is one of the best things you can do for recovery and success. Having that mobility enables you to run so much more consistently and have less muscle fatigue. Would always recommend stretching, whatever you can fit into your schedule. Using a foam roller before a run or workout is great too
What's your recommendation for people who is only able to sleep 5-6 hrs each night? I alwsys have so much things to do and sleep around 10 or 10:30 and wakingup at 4:30 to run, getting me 6 hrs of sleep
I could be wrong but aren't free stuff like cold showers, stretching and some fasted training enough? If you're dedicated you should also not let your stressful running limit training hours. Do like Van der Poel and Almgren.
I ran 17:58 as a freshmen the other week. What are your suggestions to inprove you 2nd and 3rd mile for 5k. Strength and speed is my problem. ive been doing a good amount of hill workouts. is that the right workout?
1) do you think you're creating a risk factor for hyponatremia drinking so much water? 2) been following your channel for a while. Never heard of Firefly until now
Shouldn’t you have the carbs and protein in your system before the workout so you body can start rebuilding right away? Won’t eating after be worse because your body takes time to absorbs and circulate these nutrients?
