Here in Detroit, they never play the studio version of this. I’m not sure if I’ve ever heard it before always the live same thing with turn the page, and many others live bullet is one of the greatest Live albums ever!!!
You should check out "Get out of Denver" from the Live Bullet album.Bob sings this one really fast. How he remembers all the words singing that fast,I have no clue. The live version of "Kathmandu" from that album is fantastic also.Hellthe whole frigging album is fantastic. He starts out singing a song that Tina Turner wrote. So,you know it's going to be rockin
I've been told by several musicians that once you play a song live for an audience three times, you'll never forget it. I'm a sort of bedroom musician myself, haven't played too many songs for people live, so I can only pass on second hand info.
Jay and Amber...y'all haven't even scratched the surface with Bob! There's an entire library of songs this good! Her Strut, Betty Lou's Getting Out Tonight, Hollywood Nights, Nutbush City Limits....all bangers!
J&A, you'll love his "Night Moves", "Hollywood Nights", "Rock And Roll Never Forgets" !!! last two are Bangers!!! Congratulations on doing "Katmandu", not many have! edit- Spooner Oldham - organ, electric piano!! and the legendary Muscle Shoals Horn Section!!
I love how Amber has journeyed from a rock neophyte to rolling her eyes saying “Bob” in appreciation and steeped in knowledge. It’s been a pleasure to accompany her.
You guys have done a LOT of Bob. And we all thank you for it! "Shame On the Moon" or "Still the Same" are great if you want more laid-back Bob, but "Rock and Roll Never Forgets" is another rockin' banger. "You'll Accomp'ny Me" is also terrific. P.S. Katmandu is the capital and most populous city in Nepal. I can't speak to its nightlife these days, but Bob sure makes it seem like a great place!
Katmandu is the capital of Nepal in the Himalayas, which for a kid from Detroit like Bob (or me) was the very definition of away from it all and a place to find some peace. This is a great track, and I think it's the first hit that put Bob on the radar for most of the rest of the US.
@@gotham61 It depends if you're using the local spelling, with an h, or the English spelling, without one. To use it with an h in English publications is a very recent change, made only within the last decade and certainly not the spelling when Seger made the song. If only these spelling and style issues were that simple! It may seem that the preferred local spelling of a foreign place name would always be correct. I wrote the song from the perspective of someone who has yearned for a place as far from America as anybody could get." Seger said Katmandu, nestled in the Himalayas between India and China, was "a very mysterious and beautiful place in a lot of ways, like another planet for me."
Re-do....Re-do!!! You must do the live version from Live Bullett. That might be the most rocking version of Bob you will ever hear! If you liked this version, you will LOVE the live version. And when you're ready for some Tina Turner written "Nutbush City Limits" that MUST be the live version as well. Recorded in his home state (and mine) of Michigan.
This is what the true classic rock is. Puts you in the mind of Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Little Richard. Many people refer to this style as Rock-a-billy music.
Another all-time classic. I think you would love "Night Moves," a soulful coming of age song. "Traveling Man/Beautiful Loser" is another must listen. Kathmandu is the capitol city of Nepal in the mountains near Mt. Everest. Not sure if that is the place the song refers to, but I like to think it is, LOL!
Awhh the Memories of Cobo Hall and the making of LIVE Bullet 1976 album." Bettylou's getting out tonight" rocks also!!THANKS!!! 47 yrs latter and he still ROCKS!
I became an instant mega Bob fan when I was 13/14 years old and snuck my sis's Live Bullet album when she left the house - It was the passion and emotion in his vocals for me too, his voice is velvet to my ears!! I saw him live 13 times, the first in 1977 and the last in 2019, two weeks before his final retirement tour show in Philly ~ Not hearing of him or knowing his music before 1976, I had a lot to research since he started in the mid-60s ~ Nowadays it would be simple internet searches, but in the 70s it was reading a lot of music mags and thumbing through vinyl records in the record stores ~ You really need to go back, listen to his early Detroit City garage rock, Soul and R & B ~ His Soul and R & B vocals are out of this world - Search TH-cam for Bob Seger and The Borneo Band ~ They were the lineup right before Silver Bullet Band.
You two people are keeping me young!!! I love y’all! I’m a 66 year old man from Georgia and I love the rock, Motown, and funk. I grew up in Atlanta listening to all music! I look forward to all of your videos. Thank you making an old man feel young again!!!!
My favorite Seger song has to be "Roll Me Away". In the future you find yourself looking for another anthem by Bob Seger, this receives my highest recommendation.
If you liked this, you have to listen to the Live Bullet version, or anything else from that album. Bob is one of those rare artists who sound even better live.
Kathmandu ( It is the actual spelling) is the capitol of Nepal. Beautiful Country. Stunning Mountain Ranges. Mt Everest is in between Nepal and Tibet. PS> Fantastic song! Brings me right back.
My absolute favorite Bob Seeger track, real old fashioned Rock n Roll. And I hadn’t heard it for a minute, thanks guys, you achieved your goal and made me smile today. ✌️
Saw the original taping of Live Bullet, front rows on Night Moves tour and Against the Wind. He's a master!!!!! From Detroit, so check out his live there. Back in the days of old where I sat my lawn chair at the box office 48 hours before tix went on sale. It used to be real work to get great seats, but Bob? Dang! Every show lasted 30 minutes or more longer than the one before. He just kept fiving it to us. 3 encores. Gotta love Bob or you have wooden ears.
@Rob Squad Reactions You should now do a comparison video versus the live version. "Live Bullet" is one of the best live albums ever. You could eventually several tunes from it. Travelin' Man/ Beautiful Loser is a two-fer that MUST be experienced. Guaranteed grin when you're done. Khatmandu is the capital of Nepal, a Himalayan nation north of India. Soo many more great ones to hear from Bob…Night Moves, Shame on the Moon, Hollywood Nights…..so many others. Keep the Bob train moving guys, you will love them all!
The LIVE version is the one we always played on the radio. Y’all should revisit this sometime and feel the energy of the Live Version. Find the one on the LIVE BULLET album.
Of all the rock acts I have seen since early seventies, Bob is the most comfortable looking, born to be on stage performer I have ever seen. So natural.
Mr. Seger was in tune with his Silver Bullet Band when he was on the road, but a lot of his studio work around this time was done at Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in the small but musically fertile outpost of Sheffield, Alabama, which is where he recorded seven of the nine songs on Beautiful Loser, including "Katmandu." The owners of the studio were also the musicians: Jimmy Johnson (guitar), Barry Beckett (keyboards), David Hood (bass) and Roger Hawkins (drums).
Because it's Bengals' victory day, (as a Steelers' fan - believe it or not), I've noticed that since you two have begun the Rob Squad channel(s), the Bengals have had a couple of the most successful seasons in a 50+ year team history! Good for you, Jordan. And, Amber, your chair dancing is without equal! 🖤🧡🐅😄🎶🎼🎷🎤
Funny story. I'm a driver here in Charlottesville, Virginia. About a year ago, I had to take a couple to Dulles Airport, traveling to Nepal and the Himalayas for a grand hiking adventure. Their trip would begin in Kathmandu, of course, being the Capitol of Nepal. (Real nice cool people in their late 30s, I'm guessing). I said to them, "So you're actually really going to Kathmandu?" "I gotta ask, please tell me that you've been hearing Bob Seager in your head since you booked this trip?!? "HELL YEAH!" "You know it!" Was the answer! Two weeks later, I picked them up and got to hear about their amazing and not entirely safe adventure. They made it back home with a little help from me. True story.
My very first concert as a young teen was the Live Bullet concert at Cobo Hall in Detroit. I am a life long fan of Bob Seger. He was once asked about how he stays around and he straight up said he did play the pop music games. Never play the fads. Everything runs in circles. He may fade this year but he will be back when the circle comes around. He told no lies. Those that play to the dollar and to the machine are here today and gone tomorrow. Try out Fire Lake or even Her Strut. The man was a machine in the rock industry. Rick Manasa was the original keyboardist. Robyn Robbins took over in 1975. I am sure both had a hand in playing the song. The man cranked out hit after hit and I hate he is now off the road. Chevy used Like A Rock for more than a decade to sell trucks. This type of legend doesn't every die.
You really should listen to the entire Bob Seger Live Bullet album. It was live at Cobo Hall in Detroit back in 1975 (released 1976) and has in my opinion the best versions of Katmandu, Travelin' Man and Beautiful Loser plus many others. He and his band were an AMAZING live act and we love him here in Detroit.
Couldn't agree more. Grew up with Seger. My older sister saw him when he was playing at high school dances. My first 45 I bought was 2+2 in 8th grade. Been my favorite since then. So glad to see you guys enjoying him so much!!!!!
You will really like Night Moves & Main Street! Both from the album Night Moves in 1976. Also on that album is Rock n Roll Never Forgets. Another high energy fun tune.
Sometimes you just wanna rock out. This is how you do it.
ROCK N' ROLL.NEVER FORGETS
Mr . Seger .... Absolutely one of the greatest voices ever in my opinion .
Agreed
Yep I agree for the rock n roll genre..
@@andrelimoges3654 Agree. And as I understand it, he's also a great person.
Absolutely 💯 agree AND one of the greatest storytellers IMO!

Hey guys, thanks for this great song. As others have mentioned, you need to bust out “Live Bullet.” This song live goes to another level.
One of the best live cds ever.
NewBlue Moon is so, so right about "Live Bullet!"
Like live album "Nine Tonight" also. Think "Let it Rock" is better. Both live albums are very good.
Kathmandu is in Nepal. I'm not sure if it's really that much of a party town.
If Bob Seger stayed there (Nepal) for a while...it could have been!
You have to do this song LIVE!!!! The version on Live Bullet is killer... They amp EVERYTHING up... He kills it in live versions of songs.
Yezzz indeed man!

Anything Bob is good. Whenever I ride I HAVE to hear Ramblin' Gamblin' Man off of Live Bullet.
Bo Diddley live.
KATMANDU is in Nepal, land of monks, Himalayan Mountains, and the Abominable Snowman. Bob wants to go off the grid apparently .
It's actually "Kathmandu" but the search engines will often compensate for the spelling error and land you at the same place!

Congratulations on doing "Katmandu", not many have!

Yes Bob seger is very good on live stage some guys just thought or should I say some of the pain is all better lie than they are in the studio
Amazing live❤
I saw many live concerts when i was young but without a doubt Segar was the best i ever saw live.

Bob Seger has an amazing voice. And the Silver Bullet Band is CRIMINALLY UNDER RATED.
