A doctor literally prescribed me to use Terramycin (kinda like Neosporin) to help protect and heal my piercings and it worked. He just told me to use a tiny bit instead of slathering it on the piercing. I've used gentle soap, water, and Terramycin on several lobe piercings, an industrial, a conch, and 2 other helixes, and all of them healed beautifully. Never had bumps or keloids.
When doing a patch test, use a sharpie or other marker to mark the area you applied the product. If there is a problem, this will allow a medical professional to see how far the reaction has spread.
I love to use Hibiclens diluted with sterile saline if I feel an infection coming on. It works wonders. And I lightly dip my jewelry in a little aquaphor to lubricate it before insertion 😉. After I have it as I want it, I use some sterile saline to clean off the ointment!
What about coconut oil? I had my belly repierced about 5 days ago. & 2 days after I got my piercing I started to form a little bump on the top hole that was pierced the first time. Ive been doing sea salt soaks and using doves sensitive skin unscented soap and I still got a little bump and I’ve been experiencing slight burning and itching. But I heard coconut oil can help with the bump and the healing process I tried it this morning and my belly button feels better it doesn’t burn or itch. But if it’s gonna cause damage I don’t want to keep using it.
Thank you! I have used things inappropriately! Definitely harsher on a new piercing after I started slacking off a 2 days with only 1 per cleaning. Thank you for the portion of sea salt and distilled water! And also no to diluted tea tree oil on new piercing. What are your thoughts on pure chamomile warm tea bag compression?
Advice for someone trying to heal after taking a piercing out? My piercing was super irritated and my piercer took it out. I had it for almost 2 months, it’s been 2 weeks and it’s still not healing. I have irritation bumps on the inside and outside. Help ):
Is there a video on how to properly clean a lobe piecring? I've had mine for a year and a half it still isnt healing. I take them out once week and clean the area with a qtip
@@anemotionalcapricorn oh wow, why is oil bad? I’ve been applying tea tree diluted with olive oil and it seems like it’s making my piercing heal better
Aww man!! I wish I would’ve seen this video b4 I applied sea salt and tea tree oil. I now have this burnt scab looking dark skin on my nose, ugh It’s my fault I stop cleaning it with H2Ocean and saw a bump, stuck a pen through it and the applied this ingredients. My piercing agent (who’s seen this a lot on new piercers), looked at it and said NO MORE salt or oils, use the h2, because of the scab it’s trying to heal. No makeup or anything should go on it. Use the h2 3x’s a day and your nose will be back to normal in a couple of weeks. She said that a stub would be better, but decided that the hoop is find. Love all your videos ❤️
What can I use to get rid of piercing bumps on a cartilage? I have been trying for the last 2 years. I just changed my earring to a titanium hoop because the sterling silver stud kept getting caught on everything. I have been using sea salt soaks and paste but it seems to just irritate my ear. Not sure what to do. Any advice?
But if you go to a doctor or a pharmacist with an infection with pus coming out of it they'll tell you to put neobacin and use oral antibiotics too, but a lot of Piercers says no 🙄🤔who should you believe? A doctor knows more in the medical treatment than a piercer, but I'm still confused on who's advice one should follow.
Ik it's late but follow your piercer if you got a new piercing make sure you go to a good piercer if it's something major (take a keloid as an example) listen to your doctor
I did my industrial like 2 years ago and they told me to use bactine, so I did, I'm still using it. Two days ago I did my earlobes and they told me to use bactine. Now you got me thinking...every video I watch they say not to use it, but how is it possible no one told me before??? Like, both guys told me to use it😔 I went to same tattoo shop but different guys did the piercings
First off, love the channel (love the accent). I only recently came across you a few weeks ago, so I've been bouncing back and forth between the old and new videos as the algorithm sees fit. Anyway, my stretching journey started accidentally-ish and has been taking some weird steps - starting out with a normal mall-pierced lobes as a teen that I had for ages, then to 8g in 2018, 4g in 2019, and then 0g about a month ago. Big steps, far apart, basically. IDK if that's my final size, as I'm kinda just winging it. So even though my experience has been very limited, I'd like to echo that new piercings need to be kept clean and dry. I've noticed that if I avoid constantly interfering with them, avoid over cleaning, over oiling, over massaging, no harsh chemicals, keep the sea salt to minimum strength (about as salty as tears TBH), my crusties go away in 2-3 days after a stretch. The skin still feels a little thin for a couple weeks after, but in the first few days it's considerably better if I simply clean it, dry it, and leave it alone. Good tips! Keep up the good work!
i use dr bronner tea tree oil liquid soap to wash my piercing but just once not often. then i use dr bronner baby liquod soap. i use sterilized gauze pads to clean my piercing.
Neil Med Piercing Aftercare saline spray, or H2 Ocean .. they are both effective yet gentle, super easy to use, and easy to get - Amazon or most local piercing shops .. Also do not use contact lens saline solution, it’s not the same - the saline (salt/sodium) content is not what’s needed to clean and heal piercings
Keep up with your piercing aftercare with either a premade saline solution or one you make yourself with the correct measurements (which I mention in the video).
@@GeauxGretchen what is your favorite premade solution??? i see so many things about h2ocean and britech and body jewels blind piercer like i’m just confused on what would be the best

My new piercer recommended that & my 4 piercings I got with her are thriving. Whereas I used cotton tips with my nose piercing (diff piercer) & it has a very stubborn bump :/ so yes great !
When I had my ears pierced 25 years ago, I remember rubbing alcohol as the cleaner recommended for lobe piercings. It stung something awful!!!! Yah not a good recommendation.
Why are wet and damp better words than m....? LOL 😂 Make it make sense! Your blue nails are awesome! Really good advice on tea tree oil. I can't tolerate that stuff at all. Many people are sensitive to it.
I disagree with the tea tree oil, don’t think it should be used. Honestly if you just keep clean, you can get away with just rinsing piercings in the shower you can use saline solution, but I only use that for relief when I get a new one. Generally the bumps have a reason for appearing, and it’s better to figure out why they appeared vs just throwing tea tree oil on it. It could be ill fitting jewelry, bad materials, sometimes it happens during the healing process (and it should clear up on its own with patience). Lynn Loheide has amazing articles regarding piercing, the industry and aftercare on her blog and I believe she has an article about piercing bumps.
I never recommend tea tree oil as a first line of defense. However, I do think it has great properties for healing and if used correctly, can be incredibly beneficial. But most do not know how to use it properly, which is why I included it on this list. Yes, keeping a piercing clean should be enough (as should proper jewelry), but that's not always the case.
There are Undertones of “I told you so” in this video. Which to me is incredibly off putting. Although somewhat informative. Sounds like you’re a holistic person who hates any chemically thing. You make it sound like it’s the end of the world if someone uses rubbings alcohol on skin?
You’re reading too much into this video if that’s the tone you took away from it. The Association of Professional Piercers recommends avoiding these products (like rubbing alcohol) because it can damage cells and irritate the piercing more.
She's definitely right. Rubbing alcohol should be fine on skin but it is not suitable for a puncture wound. Wounds and especially puncture wounds should be treated much different than a surface cut. Professional piercings and most people with piercings will say the same things. I don't mean to be disrespectful, just informative, but if that was exactly the tone of the video I assume tea tree oil wouldn't have been shot down (for the same reasons as rubbing alcohol and hydrogen peroxide.) If all of these things were perfectly healthy for a fresh piercing I'd assume more piercers would be handing them out or skip providing a saline option for most clients! :3
Its so frustrating. For every person recommending something, someone else is saying to avoid like the plague. Arghh no idea what to try
