- This is the third video where I explain what hadith criticism is and what it is not! In this video, a case study of Abu Bakra is examined. Sources used in this video:
1) Fatima Mernissi, "The veil and the male elite. A Feminist Interpretation of Women's Rights in Islam". English translation, published in 1991.
Is fascinating just listening in to a different culture and set of contexts... As a committed Orthodox Christian. Your knowledge is enriching. Thank you.
Thank you for investing your time in my lectures.

Assalamualaikum my dear Sofia. Please let me know: what sources can you recommend for studies on Islamic history?
Hello. To begin with, you need to clarify: what do you mean by "Islamic history"? What exactly do you want to learn / understand?
@@ProgressiveFeministIslam the basics of basics. How hadiths came to be, critical persons influencing sharia and the supposed word of the prophet pbuh , politics...For beginners :D similar to what you cover in your lectures about pre-islamic era and so on..
@@NinaJallow well, as you may realise there is no one book that can cover all you need. You want to go through hadith history, Proto-Islamic history and intellectual development of Islam. I strongly suggest that you make research on each of these topics individually. The books I use in my videos would be my suggestion to begin with. Also, the book "Islam, Authoritarianism, and Underdevelopment: A Global and Historical Comparison" by Ahmet T. Kuru, is en excellent source of information for the topics you are interested in.
@@ProgressiveFeministIslam thank you kindly!
