We are back with another part of St Henry's Church. Today we map in the area of the church grounds and make a start on detailing the front, I'll be back tomorrow with more!

weird fun fact. grass in graveyards are usually greener than regular grass. the decomposing bodies are fertalizing the ground.
so the grass is always greener where the dead sleep 💀
How does that work when buried people are embalmed and put in a coffin? That's curious.
@@jupiterthree5228 you still decompose when embalmed. embalming slows the process down. dead bodies release nitogren which plants LOVE.

wildflowers grow like crazy where there’s corpses underneath be it people or animals, we buried my dog in a dirt patch (not as awful as it sounds it was intentional, he made it a dirt patch with his pooch activities over the years) and within a year it was thick with green grass, multiple types of wildflowers, we didn’t scatter specific seeds, just encouraged pollinators to the garden and the rest was biology
Not so much screeching as I was giggling, waiting to see how long it would take you to notice you covered up the lightwell.

Slow day at the office, my coworker who is not a simmer watched this with me and she is thoroughly impressed as she should be. She said you are awesome and talented and she bets your home is beautiful as well. I love the light source you created for the basement and how you did the fountain. I would have never thought of that which makes me mad at my lack of creativity. I hope your vacation is amazing, have so much fun in the sun. It's hot as balls here in Atlanta, GA USA. And Pushing Daisies was a great show...its on prime or hulu, I rewatched about a year ago.

The vaguely important gravestone could work great for making a part of the basement into crypts😁
gravel usually disappears in areas which are well-trodden. Personally to add a bit of realism i go in with a very very light eraser inside the main path when i do gravel.

On that wall with the fountain, you could add plaques for remembrance of people who were cremated. My grandfather was cremated and he has a little plaque with his name on and a little message from us, and it's on a wall at the church alongside many other plaques. Just a thought ❤

You should make a grounds keeper that lives in the village, he's the one that keeps the church yard tidy. Like grounds keeper willy from Simpsons lol
Maybe some warm flood lights on the window areas. Add a bit of subtle lights in the evening x
He has said that a grounds keeper will have a house in the world ❤
I love visiting old graveyards, there's just something about them that I find peaceful. We were visiting one that inspired Robert Burns Tam O'Shanter, and my husband says " who's this Eric Ted guy, he's on all the headstones?" I almost died laughing, every headstone had ERECTED and the date on them. I'll never let him live that down.🤣😂💀

Pushing Daisies was one of my faves!! I’m still obsessed with Kristin Chenoweth because of it.
The typical burial tradition is facing the sun, so the headstone would face east, so that the sun rises on it! But often times this isn’t followed simply because it’s more practical to put people where you have the most space.
I cannot landscape to your level but one thing I have discovered is that if you size down ferns they look like dandelions growing. They look great up against walls or stones as a bit of weeds sprouting. And yes I was screaming when your basement windows disappeared. My Virgo anxiety kicked in until you noticed it lol. This build is incredible already! X
As soon as this build is done I’m downloading it and creating a priest haunted house with an orphanage feel. Want it to be a lot. A priest that raises children to battle the evil spirits of the world … there is however always a plot twist … a young rogue agent that’s evil and mean muhahhaha ! Either way I LOVE the exterior of this build. The location is fantastic and the feel is incredible
There's a church literally over the road from me and they have a little above ground veg garden that has a sign to tell you if the veg is ready to pick or not

It'll probably take forever, but if you want to do I think it'll look amazing if you place graves with the tool mod around the lot itself..! You can duplicate more easily so it can be easier than I first thought but, ultimately it's up to you.
I desperately want them to do an elder expansion pack with a ‘place of worship’ lot type, a graveyard lot type, funerals, retirement parties etc. This build just made me want that even more
Another brilliant video! The church is coming along amazingly, Aden! Two suggestions I have for the next one is to include a grave for Lord Cromwell surrounded by flowers and a clock on one of the belltower's faces. Hope you enjoy your holiday! ❤
I really can't wait for Henford House ! I absolutely love wealthy family houses I feel like they have a lot of personnality and lore. It reminds me of Jane Austen novels.
I think a hidden crypt beneath the church would be interesting! Maybe the lost resting place of Princess Cordelia since there's a lot named after her in Henford and finding her resting place has been a big mystery like Richard III's was

As someone who lives in a floodplain, it would make sense to me to add drains to the lightwells, otherwise they could potentially fill with water that would then erode the stone down there and weaken the integrity of the church. French drains have been around since the 1800's and are cheap and simple to install, so that could have been something the community did for the church at one point
Where you’ve done your light wells, would be good to have an emergency exit and stairs to ground level just incase of fires etc.
Also where you did the fountain why not use the little plaques from get to work i think it is and pop them round the fountain wall to act as little cremation niches. 😊
I was laughing waiting for you to realise the basement had been covered up, whenever somethings wrong 9/10 you always spot it before the end of the video so I always wait patiently😂😂 you could make the ground a little un even around the graves but I know it might not be feasible because of the sims 😒😔😅

I think a little watering station would be nice for the graveyard, we have these a lot at home, with some public watering cans

Maybe it would be lovely in that remembrance area to do a the pet statue from the pets pack (resized), just to remember wee darling Blue and all your members pets that we have lost
You could add a small vase of flowers at a special grave that’s visited daily by a family member or loved one 💙

Oh my gosh the build is looking incredible! And i was the biggest fan ever of Pushing Daisies! I had such a crush on Ned 💖😆 The Pie Maker was gorge ❤ It was such a good show, 2 seasons was criminal pardon the pun

I admit, I love old British church-by graveyards. They have some special, little creepy spirit which inspires me in some little weird way...
I live for Miss Lady Lavender Haden Cromwell 😂 I think this is coming along marvelous. around the graveyard area it’s a collection of tombstones from the spooky stuff pack that adds fog! you could size that down and shove it in a plant that would look fabulous
I love how you inadvertently made a flying buttress with that wall in the memorial garden/water fountain area. That wall could be the columbarium space, where the cremated are placed. For the pipe organ loft, there was often a choir loft as well. I don't know if you can fit pews up there for the choir as well, but that was sometimes a thing. Otherwise, they would sit just in front of the altar, on either side. Not for sure on this, as it's been quite a few years since I've been in a church like this during a service. Lately it's been as a tourist during off hours. The church is looking lovely though. I'm loving your vision.

The grave for Someone Vaguely Important should have a little fence around it. In the old days, graverobbers were a real problem- some of the really industrious graverobbers sold freshly buried bodies to medical schools. Wealthy families would often pay extra to have some kind of enclosure over their loved one's graves to deter this.

in denmark we are also leaving grass grow high and plant more wild flowers for insects and stuff. they made a big patch outside my window and in the last year more inects has come and even wild rabbits who normally don´t live in my area.
Gorgeous build once again 🤗 I know you’ve already landscaped the graveyard, but roses do love a cadaver compost 😂 maybe you could pop a few in there?

The looks you give us when you’re making a build make me laugh out loud. I was wondering if you ever thought of making a bed and breakfast. We just stayed at one in Maine USA. So beautiful and I thought you could make this. Big 1903 Tudor style.

for those pillars in side the church you could run vines up them or lightning. Make them a feature. don't think you have the space but a pond would be cute.
I love watching all of your builds, and this one is so pretty!! Maybe that spot at the edge of the graveyard needs a statue? Something like an angel? It could represent someone who did a lot for the Henford community, and the residents pooled their funds to get it made!
Fun thought.. What about including a small Monk Ale house? Since ale is not in the game, they could make whine. Perfect for a wedding! 🤣

It ultimately got cancelled cause of low ratings. There was a writers strike in the middle of it and the show never recovered from the hiatus, apparently. I remember that writers strike being a really big deal in L.A. when I was in high school! I had some friends whose dads were writers and I remember going with them to the picket lines. A lot of shows were affected by the strike... The writers came out of it doing okay for themselves at least so there's that 😅
Maybe you could add some insects from the ponds near the overgrown flower patches
For storyline after Lady Lavender's death no plants were ever purposefully planted with her but the next spring lavender bloomed there and they decided to just let it grow
For the fencing issue, if you start away from the building and draw the fence towards the building, it won’t make a foundation. If you DO start the fence from the building and connect it to another part of the building, it WILL make a foundation.
You should add a little living quarters for the priest!!!
I just visited Westminster Abbey - they had a basement room where the king's treasures were occasionally stores. They had small windows right at the top, but covered in bars. Dont know if that's something worth doing here, but am mentioning it cor your basement as an option.
Did you say you were going to have a side entrance for the church Aden? I dont think you've left a space if yes. Our parish church has a side entrance next to where they added in some toilets for the parish room where they have all the events. Speaking of, mum & baby/toddler groups were very popular at our churches when my son was small, so another idea maybe.

So when I was growing up me and my parents would ride around on little country roads. I would see a old cemetery and I would tell my parents and we would stop and look at all the gravestones

The church is beautiful!! I love all of your ideas for utilizing the church basement. However in a church this old in the UK I would think it would have crypts in the basement. Not that I'm from the UK and know this to be true. I just watch a lot of movies that had this type of setup. Also does anyone else think a vegetable garden next to a graveyard is weird/gross? I mean I know it's the Sims but body seepage in the ground and all!

Some gates can be sized up and the animation doesn’t look too bad. You’ll have to player test the gate though because some look ridiculous when the animation takes effect. lol
How about a sauna in the vestibule? Could be a vibe.
I had a thought what if the church brewed it's own mead. Maybe it was something which was started when the church was founded as a way to pay for the construction and up keep and the tradition has been carried on by each new rector who took charge?
Maybe a statue or birdbath in the graveyard 🤔

Hi Aden I was just wondering, with the Roof of the church because its aparently very old what would a Mossy roof from Warewolf pack look like to symbolise the age of the church? I am loving this series. Additionaly a side entrance near the big oak tree would that be possible, maybe another large door like the one at the front of the church?
Lady Lavender should be the daughter of Sir Henry who died very young; the animal motifs are because she had a particular bond with animals (either just loves them or maybe something supernatural???)
also I rarely will disagree with a design choice, but what if you did the shorter gate over at the back and then found a debug archway to go over it? Something about the for rent one isn't vibing in the same way.
What about coffins in the basement for the important fellas 😂?
would there be a confession booth? could be a good plot device for the murder mystery

How about putting doors down in those basement outside areas so the staff can come outside and have a quick cigarette or a quick break and then go back in?
maybe on the side that is very skinny that not much is happening, some steps into that light well?

Ask some of the Graves and a little shorter like there's some children who died from like any source disease like tuberculosi and yellow fever and put up like a memorial and put up like a memorial prack for those who die from the outbreak at the time and the grave of Eloise Haden Cromwell add to it
