  • Hello my dears,
We are starting on a new lot today in the area of Finchwick. The Gnome Inn, the main hub of the community. We start today by getting a rough idea of the exterior and floor plan! If you want to give me some juicy lore for this build and I'll include it into this save file! I'll be back next week with more!

story time: in the late 1800s, the gnome inn was the meeting place between eloise, the youngest daughter of the lord haden-cromwell (at that time), and patrick, a poor farmer living on the outskirts of henford-on-bagley. eloise would disguise herself as one of the maids of haden hall and sneak into town, where she and patrick could be together away from her parents' disapproving eyes. eventually, though, eloise was recognized, and one of the pub regulars told her very strict, snooty parents what she was up to. the next time eloise and patrick were set to meet, patrick instead met some of the haden-cromwells' men, and he was dragged out of town and never seen again. eloise was devastated, and less than a year later, she died of a disease, though the town whispered that she actually died of a broken heart. some say that she still haunts the room they would share on the upper floor of the gnome inn to this day, and in the quiet, you can hear her soft weeping for her lost love.

Adding onto this- The pub regular who told her parents led a band of highway men, who would steal from wealthy travelers passing through the area. He struck up a deal with Haden-Cromwell that he and his gang would take Patrick away in exchange for a place at Haden Hall to hide their loot. Haden-Cromwell eventually double crossed the gang and had them killed while keeping the loot for himself to pay off some gambling debts. Some of the highway gang's things are in the hidden basement of the pub, as the owner is a descendent of the leader who betrayed Eloise and Patrick, but rumor has it that the stolen wealth still resides at Haden Hall today....

Back in the day, when the Gnome Inn was still a wooden building, with a name lost in time, it caught fire and burned down. Of course the villagers wanted to rebuild their local tavern. So they went into the Bramblewood and found the best trees. Towering dark trees, ancient and strong. A local crone warned them against felling those trees, she said they were the home of the forest gnomes. The villagers dismissed the claims of the old woman and felled the trees, rebuilding the tavern. From then on, the tavern seemed to be cursed, with small fires, accidents and all-round bad luck. The crone told the villagers that only one thing could keep the gnomes away... the black beast of the moon. If the villagers were to put moonpetal flowers in the garden, and ale out for the beast, the gnomes will be vanquished. After several weeks (and more than a few small shoes found in the undergrowth) the gnomes had indeed gone. It's been a couple of hundred years now, the new pub is now stone and called the Gnome Inn, but there's still rare plants on the grounds, and a cask of ale sitting outside. And yes, sometimes you do hear the howling of the wind and it sounds just like a wolf...

    True story!
When my big brother was just 2 years old, my mom worked in a pub similar to your reference. She and the bartender would put their kids in the attic room while they worked.
The boys would often tell of the little old lady that "came out of the wardrobe" and she would tell them stories, and then go back into the wardrobe!
There had been a landlady who died in the attic!
    Creepy!

There are too many stories already (and they’re all great!) but I wonder if we could somehow incorporate a secret room or passage. My first idea was a secret passage from the kitchen’s pantry to one of the rooms, maybe a cook back in the day had ~affairs~ with some of the guests and needed easy access. My second idea was that I’ve never seen a build use more than one basement level. For some reason we can have two basement levels. Maybe the “normal” basement is used for storage or a pantry but a secret ladder or stone steps leads down into an even lower level where some ~culty~ activities happened hundreds of years ago…and maybe still do!

Back when Finchwick was first being built, the founding sims angered the forest gnomes by cutting down their trees and paving over the forest floor. In their anger, the gnomes broke everything. There was constant bad luck with the construction of the village: things falling down, tools snapping unexpectedly, fires that seemed to start out of nowhere. Then, the sim who was building the grandest house in the middle of the square got the idea to appease the gnomes with beer. She left out a pint every night by the back door, and soon the accidents stopped. When she finished construction, she decided that the place would be a public house, open to sims and gnomish spirits alike, and threw open the doors for anyone who wanted to enjoy her ale. Centuries later, the barkeeps still follow the tradition of setting a pint out the back door every night, and now the gnomes watch over the place and fix things instead of breaking them. (Add the Gnomes lot trait)

I imagine “Gnome” stands for Grim Nightmare Omen of Misfortanete Endings. The legend would be that every past owner would pass away in weird and bazzare circumstances. Perhaps owning the pub comes with some secret object that usually “curses” everyone who tries to sell or get rid of it. Maybe Lady Hilary would explain her husband’s passing as this because he wanted to buy the Inn?

A small figure, a gnome in pirate attire, is placed on a dusty shelf in the inn. Guests notice it only rarely and only when they're drinking rum, for some reason. It's rather creepy in that its eyes seem to follow people around. The inn owner claims it was already there when they took over. Also, it changes places from time to time. But only after there was a death in the village.

In the cellar of the gnome inn is the hoard of Sir Goldwiffle (or as he is well known as, Goldbeard). Legend has it that if you manage to get into the vault then your bloodline will be cursed for thousands of years. This is because before Goldbeard died he hired a witch who went by the name of Tickle Tittyboo to cast curses against the people who seek it out. Victims of the curse include Sir Nicholas of Henford, the famous supermodel Emerald Collins (Great Great Aunt to the famous Beryl Collins). The cellar has been closed for decades and a new cellar houses the spirits the pub is known for. Who will be the hoards next victim?…

    Storyline!
The reason behind the name is that at this very place a gnome used to live. He had a gorgeous tree that he called home. One year there was the harshest winter this part of the land had ever seen. Storms followed storms and people were hungry. A few families tried scavenging and hunted for food when they came upon the gnome and his tree. The tree was magic and was fruit laden all year round. The families begged the gnome for food and since he was a very kind gnome he granted there request and also provided them with shelter. The gnome hosted them for the entire winter and when spring came the families thanked him. They had grown close to the gnome and built there new homes( the old ones were destroyed in one of the storms) right next to the gnomes tree. When the houses were finished the gnome blessed the families and there homes. Right as he did so his tree lost all leaves and stood dead. The gnome said to the families: “ this is my gift to you. All my luck and prosperity go upon your homes. You were the first humans to be so kind to thank me for my gifts, so now I give it all to you” and he disappeared.
After that the families and there settlement flourished and never had to go hungry again. And in the honor of the gnome they build this Inn to treat travelers as he treated them. The families are now also the founding families of henford on bagley.
Sometimes people think they see gnome today in the Inn, checking if everything is going well.
    Little suggestion building wise:
The tree still stands next to the Inn (maybe that big dead one from vampires).

So I paused the video to write this, but here is the story line I thought: Back in the 1800s Henford-on-Bagley was a thriving little town with its own unique river port. Being a town on the rise it soon attracted a lot of attention by newly rich people who were favoured by the king at the time, and they looked to invest in the town. Most of the lands in the area were owned by Lord Haden-Cromwell , and he was a greedy man. So he was happy to sell many of his lands to the wealthy poeple willing to pay. And they did pay well. Soon most of the lands were sold, all except Haden Hall manor, and that little near crumbled down stable in the bank of the river near the port. There was a legent you see, that in that particular spot, once a year the gnomes and fairies of the land decided to send the towns people well wishes and good luck , in the form of gold coins that would wash ashore in that very spot. Although there were a many great deal of offers for that land , Lord Haden-Cromwell refused to part with it. When he died , he left the land to his most loyal servant instead of his heirs. You see he was the only one that he could trust that he would never sell the land. His servant managed to build around the crumbling stable an inn , in honor of his master. And in order to not displease the gnomes he called it "The Gnome Inn". Up untill the recent renovation of the river bank, the gnomew and fairiew still graced Henford-on-Bagley with a few gold coins and good luck. The people have a festival each year to honor this. Is all this luck real you ask? Well... Let's go back to the start.... See Lord Haden-Cromwell was greedy. Very greedy. So much so, that he was bored with his lordship and needed a little adventure in his life. So he started minor thefts around the area. At first it wasn't anything serious... Some cabbages , a few carrots etc. But when all those rich greedy people came into town town and started asking to take his lands... Well, he needed to teach them a lesson. So he sold his lands to them at a hefty price, and cleaned out their coffers while they were distracted with their newly bought lands... They never suspected him! Why would the richest man in the land , resort to thievery? He stored all his lute, in a basement level of the crumbling stable, but , during a particular dry time of the year the riptide lowered the water level (I'm sorry if that makes no sense english is not my native language)a few coins amnaged to escape their hideout and washed ashore... The Lord spread the myth that these were gifts by the fairies and gnomes and that it was a sign , that he shouldn't sell this land. To this day nobody knows that he was the thief. Nobody knows that , in the basement level of this historical inn, there is a far greater treasure than , than the nectar in the wine cellar

    • @mariaskeklou9580
      @mariaskeklou9580 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Oh! And I just thought , maybe you can build a pocket wall in the basement level, and you can hide a treasure chest there, with no door to get to it, kind of like the one we have in the ship in sulani?

The Gnome Inn was once the perfect rest stop for travellers. With good ail, good food, beautiful girls and good service it was truly the dream rest stop for sailors, merchants and even scholars passing through. Atleast that's how it appeared to the people on the outside. In reality it's main business was the buying and selling of information and contraband. With the vast amount of people coming in and out of the establishment it was practically too easy for the Lord that owned the pub to smuggle anything and anyone into and out of the country. Until one day the Lord and his family was mysteriously killed. No-one knows how or why he died but people say he found out about something he shouldn't have.

The Gnome Inn was once the secret meeting place of a guild of thieves. They would meet in the cellar to discuss plans and conspire against the local Lords and Ladies; they were since hanged on the village green. But it is said that the thieves still congregate in the cellars.

LOVE the inspiration images, Aden! The blue trim pops are really pretty and unexpected! For a story, I am not the best storyteller but maybe Princess Cornelia used to use this Inn / Pub to see off her pirates as they sailed into the sunset to find ✨GOLD✨ on the Isle of Vagininana. Later becoming a brothel (aptly named tThe Gnome’s Flaps), before it’s final The Gnome Inn iteration, the pirates weren’t too disappointed that Princess Cornelia wasn’t there upon their return (from finding ✨GOLD✨). How did it become The Gnome Inn, you may ask? No idea but it did one day 😂 Maybe a special appearance by Sir Timothy Landing perhaps? That was a jumbled mess, but ta-da! ❤

The Lord Haden-Cromwell (of the late 1800's) established this pub/inn to draw in more tenants and travelers to place roots in Henford-on-Bagley. Planting and creating the beer garden, customers of the Inn began to notice strange clusterings of unique plants, trinkets and even food. It became known that the Lord Haden-Cromwell believed gnomes were already living on this land and in order to appease them he put out offerings and allowed them to do as they wished on the grounds themselves. And it seemed to work, the pub thrived, plants thrived, things were going well.
But once the Inn became more of a meeting place for debauchery and shady dealings, (not to mention more of the land being overrun with development) it seemed to anger the gnomes (at least according to Cromwell). Several murders took place at the Inn itself, through mysterious and strange circumstances, as well as the Lord Cromwell himself, dying of unnatural causes....
They finally named this place the Gnome Inn in honor of not only the late Lord Cromwell, but again in hopes to appease whatever supernatural beings or entities were causing havoc in the area.

Story Line for The Gnome Inn; Finchwich used to be a small farming community when a mysterious illness took over the area, plaguing both the villagers and their animals. Crops and herbs were also dying and many feared for their survival. The Mayor at that time by the name of Johnathan Finchwich then spoke about seeing a group of people performing witchcraft in the town at night. Finchwich stated that those people were the cause and started the Finchwich Witch Trials; rounding up anyone who were the slightly bit suspicious. They interrogated many of the residents with those who believed in Finchwich. However, the Mayor was actually lying about what he saw as he knew that he caused the illness by polluting the water that flowed in the area. The building used to be home to Johnathan Finchwich who used his basement to interrogate many of the innocent residents who were deemed guilt and "punished" them; losing their life down there. Today, the water is no longer deadly and even though the building is now The Gnome Inn, the history and what lurks down in the basement still resides and many have also seen the spirit of the Mayor who started the Finchwich Witch Trails. (Inspired by the Salem Witch Trials)

Sounds like a great story ... not sure if this would work... but maybe a crystal gnome from the Crystal Creations pack could be somewhere in the inn and it could be haunted or have some sort of spell cast on it by someone that was "punished" who actually was a witch (Spellcaster) ... before they died... they cast a spell so that they would still be around haunting the inn or whatever may be in that spot.

    • @becgalaxy1889
      @becgalaxy1889 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@jdstaton4677 The idea can be edited and changed to function properly in the world as the sims is restricted in some functions. The crystals is a good idea and having items like the hanging herbs and anything to do with potion making or spell casting will make it close as possible! The paranormal pack would also be good for making an event for the pub to communicate with the spirits! Lot of possiblities!

The third lady Haden, Lady Francesca Haden (nee Devonshire and known affectionately by Fanny to her closest acquaintances) was often known to charitably visit the nearby coaching inn in order to strengthen bonds between the local aristocracy, tenant farmers and market gardeners.
As the years grew on and as the third lord Haden's affections for a certain ladies' maid became more spoken off, Fanny's visits to the local inn became more frequent and more notably - unchaperoned.
Fanny's odd behaviour was interesting to the locals, but expected being the much younger second wife to a now forgotten romantic poet. However, opinions shifted when one rainy night Fanny was spotted leaving one of the bedrooms in the inn with the infamous highwayman James Cramewell. After the pair departed the inn, Nellie the barmaid entered the bedroom to find a gnome lying in the crumpled sheets.
Nine months later, Fanny delivered the future fourth Lord Hadden who on his inheritance added the Cronwell suffix to the ancestral name.

Celebrating the harvest festival in 1800, something very unique happened. Because of the holiday, the local tavern decided to hold a meal with everyone in town to try to create a sense of unity with the neighbors, who at the time were in the midst of a war between families.
In the midst of the feast and the insults between the neighbors, a very particular gnome appeared and offered the tavern owner a deal:
Because of his desire to settle things and issues, if he managed to please him and his gnome family during this day, he would pledge that the neighbors would get along better with each other. If he failed, his place would go to the fae.
The owner tried all day to give gifts to the gnomes to win the bet, because he was very cunning, he managed to win over almost all the gnomes, except for the chief of them all. Almost at dusk of the day, losing hope, he went to the forest to cry thinking that he was going to lose everything for wanting to help others.
However, the young daughter of the Haden-cromwells of the time, was moved by the tavern keeper's attempts to help the community, so she secretly followed him to see how he was struggling to get the bet, and secretly listened to the request of this last gnome. Seeing him so defeated and all that he had struggled to try to get everyone to get along, the young woman asked her father for the last item the tavern keeper was missing and gave it to him to win the bet at the last moment.
The chief of the gnomes, kept his part of the bargain and helped in the following years to iron out the differences between the neighbors, but in addition, for having moved and gotten help out of the goodness of his heart he gave a blessing to his place so that he would never have to fix anything.
After that day, it became a custom to make offerings to the gnomes at the harvest festival, the town became very close and the gnomes and fae did not stray far from the premises, some even claiming that some of the decorative gnomes come to life if you don't pay attention to them.
Pd: The trait of the gnomes in the local comes very well with this story.

Ooooo has anyone else been watching Noel Fielding in the Dick Turpin show with the pub where all the highwaymen meet up? 😅
I can see the Gnome Inn being an old hang out for highwaymen gangs in the 18th century... With a secret passageway behind the bar that highwaymen used to escape from the authorities and a basement storage space for all the things they've stolen!
Maybe "gnome" was slang for all the riches they had in the basement? They would use the river behind the pub to send their loot out of town?
And one big important highwayman was killed by the authorities in the pub before he could send his greatest spoils down the river.
He was in a secret gay love affair with the married pub owner and they both haunt the Inn to protect his treasure to this day! 😱

    Storyline my luvs:
The inn dates back to medieval times. The reigning monarch's army would convene here after their long battles away from home. One of the soldiers grew tired of giving all of their priceless artifacts and riches they acquired in battle to the king, so he and the owner of the pub colluded to take the riches for themselves. They'd start by hiding money in the cellar, or wherever they could and eventually worked their way up to priceless items - until the king found out. The innkeeper and the soldier perished in a fire set by the king's army with everyone trapped inside. They say today, it's haunted by the innkeeper and you can catch his ghost still cleaning the rooms and making the beds - even offering up some mead or barley to unsuspecting travelers. In the middle of the night if tenants stay up late enough, they can catch the ghostly sound of the army's horses on their way to burn down the inn.

Ok buckle up: A gruff, pale, weary traveler stumbled into the Inn one rainy night, only for his eyes to fall on a kind, simple face, eyes of amber and sorrow, and soft olive skin. Bela, as she was known, was the servant of the bar owner, sold to the keeper as only a young girl. She hoisted the weary traveler into an empty barstool and served him some ale and bread. The traveler introduced himself only as Blake and sat silently at the bar, watching the bar maid go about her duties. She was the most beautiful treasure he'd ever laid his eyes on. Over the next several months, Blake comes by the bar on a regular basis. He says he's around for work, but the locals are convinced he's come to win the hand of Bela. Little do the townsfolk know, Blake has been smuggling through the river that runs through the town. As time goes on, Blake wins Bela's hardened heart, but she cannot go away with him due to her indenture to the Inn keeper, and the town and tavern are all she's ever known. One night, the Inn keeper found Bela and Blake's love letters to eachother and felt threatened Blake was trying to take what was rightfully his. He confronted Bela and got aggressive, locking her in the cellar with a black eye and a promise to never see Blake again. One of Blake's cohorts in the town told him what happened and in a fury Blake stormed to the tavern in the middle of the night and gave the owner a one way ticket to the bottom of the river. Bela was now free to be with Blake, and with no heir to the owner, she was free to take ownership of the Inn as her own. The tavern was bustling, doing better than ever, and Bela was with Blake, which made her happier than she ever thought she could be. Except, now that Blake was regularly sleeping at the tavern, his work seemed more focused on the town than traveling. He told Bela he was promoted to manager of a dock at the bay. One day, during one of Blake's 'overnight' shifts at the dock, Bela went to the bay to surprise him with some ale and bread, his favorite since they'd met. It was hard to see through the rain, but Bela could make out Blake's stocky frame, his battered black hat, and his piercing blue eyes shuffling people from a boat. But, as Bela moved closer to her love, she witnessed Blake knock a few of these people down and pile them into the back of a wagon. They were cuffed, they weren't from here, they were being smuggled, much as she had been so many years ago. She dropped the items in her hands, the sound caused Blake to look up and see his secret has been revealed. Feeling betrayed, heartbroken, and confused, Bela ran back to the inn. Blake quickly followed. She ran to her room upstairs, opened the top drawer of her dresser, and grabbed the one thing she knew could stand between her and the large man who was now making his way up the stairs, a gift from that same man, to use for protection. Just as soon as her door burst open you could hear the loud BANG and then the thud of Blake's hefty body landing on the floor. Since the pub was closed, she took him down to the cellar where she buried him, so she could keep her love close. Over the next several years she was slowly driven mad by the thought that she was being haunted by Blake. Eventually, the townsfolk stopped coming to the inn as to avoid hearing her incomprehensible ramblings about her dead lover coming for her. One day, she just disappeared. All that was left was a fresh pile of dirt in the cellar, right next to where she buried Blake.

I think it might be fun if there was a walled off section by the cellar full of the pirates stolen treasures, as if they had to flee and were hiding it until they could come back for it. But due to unfortunate circumstances they could never return for it. Now the pub owner is struggling financially and trying to keep it open, unaware that the building sits on top of thousands of simoleons worth of priceless artifacts

Shedfield and Knottingham??? I am getting Robin Hood vibes here. Didn't the legend start there? You can have one of the descendants of the Sheriff be the town Sheriff themselves and end up being a chip off the old block (like we say in the States) by stealing people's stuff and finding out secrets to use against them.

In the heart of Henford-on-Bagley stood a quaint inn known as "The Gnome's Inn." Legend whispered of its origins traced back to the 18th century when a group of wandering travelers stumbled upon an ancient gnome settlement hidden in the woods. They struck a pact of friendship, and in gratitude, the gnomes shared their secrets of brewing the finest ale.
Word spread of the magical brew, attracting weary travelers, pirates seeking refuge, and even the occasional royal seeking anonymity. As centuries passed, the inn became a sanctuary for all who sought respite from the chaos of the world.
Whispers echoed through the halls of ghostly encounters, tales spun by patrons over tankards of ale. Yet, amidst the tales of folklore and the echoes of history, "The Gnome's Inn" remained a steadfast beacon of warmth and camaraderie in the quiet town of Henford-on-Bagley.

Story suggestion. In the 1730s, the days of the Highwaymen, there was a young individual who, though born a girl had made quite a name for themselves as a Highwayman. They had robbed their way from Brindleton Bay to Windenburg, killing many men as they went. While they were secretly wed to none other than Thick Durpin himself, they tried to hold up The Gnome Inn after one very cold Christmas on the off chance that there would be good plunder on the premises, however they were shot dead by the landlord's son. It was only after they died, that their baby was found, frozen to death hidden under a bush. It's said that at New Year you can still hear the baby cry and the parent wailing for their child, though the two can never be reunited.

Though it may sound cute, the Gnome Inn was once home to Red Hat Robert, the fearsome pirate and treasure collector. For a price, he could get you any treasure your heart desired with fine art and jewels being his particular speciality. The catch no question asked about where or how the treasure was collected. To hide from the kings guards, the Gnome Inn become his home of business dealings,. To know when he was in, a Gnome was placed in the pubs garden to let all know when he was dealing and certain local families wouldn't dare be seen near the pub unless he was in. They say he died at sea, when a storm over powered the his ship. However their are those who believe he faked his own death and used the last bit of treasure to buy the pub with his descendants still running it today. Many are left to wonder know if the Gnome in the garden is a nod the to pubs legend or a calling to those who still seek put treasure.

The inn was originally built by a woman pirate (think Geena Davis in the 80’s movie Cut Throat Island). Since then it has been handed down through the generations to the female descendants. The current owner is an independent and charismatic woman like her predecessors. Her goal is to make inn a thriving and important part of the community. More than one spirit of the generations of women come to check on things. There is always a dog about living and spirit. Having a dog is a family tradition dating from the parade ship days.

No matter what world I am in, the Gnome Arms is one of the two go-to bars/clubs I always go to.
As far as the story: The Gnome Inn is a respectable establishment and one of the central hubs of the community, but looking past the prim and proper reputation, the inn houses the underbelly (an open secret) of the quiet, picturesque countryside village. Was Arthur somehow involved in illegal deals in order to pay off his debt? If so, did something go down that got Arthur killed? And, who else is involved in the illegal deals at the Gnomes Inn?

  • @sophieoliver2155

Definitely haunted, maybe by an old cranky ghost who had a hump and gained the nickname "The Gnome" because he wore a deep red wooly hat. He owned the Inn where, although he was cranky, he was famous for his steak and kindney pies and suet puddings. Over the years, many stories arose from the little village, tales of people who had mysteriously vanished, leaving no rhyme nor reason, never to be seen again. Oddly enough, when The Gnome died (in the dining area of the pub, where chairs move, candles light themselves, and plates throw themselves off the tables) the mysterious disappearances come to and end. The Gnome is said to walk the hallway of the sleeping quaters upstairs, grumbling to himself and knocking on the bedroom dooors then disappearing. He's harmless enough, just annoying more than anything, but his eerie presence and mischievous antics brings visitors from all over the worlds, boosting its economy with the local markets benefiting from the toursists as well, though The Gnome would very much like you all to leave him alone thank you very much!

I don't really have a coherent story, just random ideas - it'd be interesting to incorporate the lot's name change with the story like maybe it was once called the Gnome's Arms and was some sort of rendezvous site for smuggling/arms dealers. Once rumors about the pub started spreading, the smugglers changed locations, and the pub got a new owner and was rebranded The Gnome's Inn. Maybe a descendant from that new owner still owns the pub in present day and weird rumors about the smuggling was passed down generations. That one comment about Eloise and Patrick... I even feel like their story could be incorporated here where Lord Haden is maybe part of the smuggling ring and Patrick finds out and that's the real reason he goes missing not because of his relationship with Eloise. Maybe Eloise doesn't really die of a disease but is killed by her father after finding out all his misdeeds/what really happened to Patrick. All of her anger, regret, and broken-heartedness turns her into a vengeful ghost that haunts the Gnome's Inn in present day. Idk if any of this dramatic nonsense even makes sense but this was what came to mind 😂

Story: the pub was originally part of the great Haden estate and was the house of the dowager Countess of Finchwick. In the late 1800's the current Lord enjoyed a cheeky drink but the local village only had a small crowded pub and so, due to its location, he evicted his mother, the dowager Countess, to make the Gnomes Arms. Dowager Countess Elizabeth was heartbroken about losing her home and unfortunately passed away before she was able to move out and it is rumored that you can still hear the tap of her walking stick or chime of her bell as she calls for her butler Mr Spratt. The recently murdered Lord Haden sold the pub after he inherited it admist a financial crisis and the money from selling the pub to the town helped saved the estate from being pulled apart and sold for scraps, saving the good Haden name.

In the heart of Henford on Bagley, nestled amidst the winding streets and ancient oaks, The Gnomes Inn stood as a silent sentinel of the town's forgotten tales. Within its weathered walls, whispers of a tragic ghost named Lily lingered, weaving a haunting tapestry of love and betrayal.
In the 18th century, when the town was a bustling hub of trade and adventure, Lily, the innkeeper's daughter, fell deeply in love with a dashing pirate who frequented the inn's tavern. Their forbidden romance blossomed in secret, hidden from prying eyes and wagging tongues.
But as the moon waxed and waned, jealousy reared its ugly head, tearing the lovers apart. In a fit of rage and madness, a rival suitor conspired to rid himself of his romantic rival, and one fateful night, Lily vanished without a trace.
Since that dark night, the ghostly figure of Lily is said to roam the halls of The Gnomes Inn, her ethereal laughter echoing through the empty rooms, her mournful wails piercing the silence of the night. Locals whisper of strange occurrences - doors slamming shut of their own accord, footsteps echoing in the empty corridors, and the faint scent of jasmine lingering in the air.
To this day, The Gnomes Inn remains a place of mystery and intrigue, drawing travelers and thrill-seekers eager to catch a glimpse of the lovelorn spirit that haunts its halls. And as the moon casts its pale light upon the ancient inn, the ghostly tale of Lily continues to captivate the hearts and minds of all who dare to listen, forever weaving its spell over Henford on Bagley.

But one time, he came back and caught her in bed with Old Johnny. He threw into a rage and they fought, eventually Old Johnny killed One Arm Bertie. Him and Sally searched the pub for the treasure but never found it. Eventually they both died - treasure still never found. The ghost of One Arm Bertie tormented them until they died. But during one of the hottest summers in decades men were being found unalived floating down the river with their ding dongs cut off. It was rumoured that the brothels Madam was an alcoholic with a vendetta for men who mistrested her ladies.
The Madam also had dealing in the illegal trade of alcohol and would ship her homemade spirits down the river in the dead of night to awaiting sea vessels prepared to sell them around Europe.

The Gnomes Inn has seen many travellers in its time, including a few sea farers that had follow the rivers down from the port to Henford-on-Bagly. However, every time one of these sea farers appear, strange things happen to the visitors of the Gnomes Inn. Late at night a beautiful voice would sing to the drunk customers stumbling out of the Inn, leading them to the river behind. Falling for the beautiful voice coming from the river, residents the next morning would always find a body floating down the river, thinking it’s just another drunkard to pull out.
However the owner of the Inn will sometimes hear the singing late at night once the Inn close, she never dared look at the river and seeing what she saw many years ago… a beautiful woman dragging the drunkards into the water to their deaths.
The townsfolk are always careful to look in the rivers at night when the sea farers are in town.

In the heart of Henford on Bagley stands the Gnome’s Inn, an idyllic country pub with a dark and mysterious past. Many of the historical records relating to the Inn appear to be damaged, incomplete or as the locals speculate, stolen. One document dating back to 1409 details the Inn as home to “a gang of murderous highway men lead by a charismatic fellow with questionable occultist tendencies”. Another document lists a wide range of complaints from tenants. All revolve around chanting emanating from the basement, workers personal belongings disappearing and of a man dress in fine garments wondering the halls at night. To this day locals and guest alike speak of strange songs and ghostly apparitions in the halls at night.
More recently the Gnome’s Inn has been in the local news. While renovating the kitchen a secret tunnel was discovered in the basement. Investigations are ongoing but progress is slow. Accidents and misfortunes seem to plague the team working in the tunnel. Why is this tunnel here, how far does it stretch, is there more than one tunnel hidden under Henford on Bagley, and who or what last used this tunnel?

The Gnome inn has always been at the hart of the village, the current building sits in place of a structure which dates back to the 1500 at this time the village was small the Lord of the manor owned the entire area and he allowed the people to live on his land as long as they paid rent. One stormy night a carrage arrived at the inn well past closing. As a hooded figure banged on the door the inn keeper arrose and headed to answer to his shock there stood the Queen. Queen Araura had been traveling throug the village when her horse became ill and they had to stop. The inn keeper and his wife gave the Queen and the people with her the entire top floor.
At the time the lord of the manor was in a bitter despute with the Queen inregards to landd taxes he owed and was refuising to pay, after her night in the inn she wrote to the lord and proposed he give her the deeds to the inn and she would whip his dept. The Lord knew the inn was a good money maker and refused to sell and in a fit of rage the had the inn burnt to the ground. Unfortunatly the inn keeper became trapped in the celler and didn't survive. His wife managed to escape and she fled the village due to fear of being harmed.
The area the inn sat on was left empty up until 1800 when someone purchansed the land and cleared it, he built the current structure on the land, during the clearing process his builders noticed that part of the floor didn't match the bricks were different however they decided not to investigate instead they ignored it and built the Inn over it without a cellar.
When the new owners moved in things statred to happen, furnature would move the smell of smoke would fill the upper floors to the point the fire department were called on many occasions to the point they were fined for wasting time. Over the years the inn was passed down in this one family that was until 2024 when new owner purchased the building Mr Bumpkin and he decided to bring the place back to it's former glory. Before all the bad modernisation had taken place none of which suited the character and style of the original building at all so he decided to strip everything out and redo it.
It was durting this process that he discovered the miss matched bricks in the floor, so he decided to remove them, as soon as he did he found a hole, he lowered his partner inside and he heard a lourd scream. He pulled him back up. "We need the police there is someone down there."
Sure enough the police arrived and removed what was left of a man. Once allowed in the hole Mr Bumpkin had to explore so with a torch and a dictorphone he entered the hole, he was shocked to discover he was in a celler one which had been built years and years maybe centuaries before, the walls were blackened with smoke and as he searched round he found a loose brick in the wall inside he found a scrap of cloth which had scribbled "He killed me all for my pub. He must pay."
As the rebuild went on Mr Bumpkin did some digging he researched his pub and it's historyu and was shocked to find that the original pub had burnt down due to unknown reasons both the inner keeper and his wife had perished in the fire. Which caused him to frown as they only found one person meaning his wife escaped. And so the hunt was on to discover what happened to his wife and if there was any chance she had decendents around to this day.

The Gnome Inn - erected in 1887 was the hub of the community of Henford on Bagley providing pies and ales to the local farmers and merchants of the town. The landlord, a mysterious figure with no wife or children was a bit of a loner with an eye for the handsome young Master of Haden Hall…a story of unrequited love, the landlord became somewhat obsessed with the young Master and the young Master enjoyed the attention…due to the landlord never letting him pay a penny in the Gnome Inn…the obsession came to a messy head when the pair had an explosive argument where the landlord professed his love for him in front of the towns people…angered by this the young Master stirred up a crowd to rid the landlord of his pub resulting in the townspeople burning down the Gnome Inn in 1897…the pub stood derelict and boarded up for decades until the newly appointed mayor funnelled money into restoring the Gnome Inn to its former glory…paying homage to the mysterious landlord that disappeared all those decades ago…

    Storyline:
In the late 1600s the gnome inn wasn’t always a inn, it used to be a local village church. But at this church the monks and nuns were all part of a cult, a gnome cult. The praised and prayed to the gnome gods hoping that one day the gnome gods would come down from gnome heaven and greet them and convince the village folk that the gnome gods could do wonders. And on the late day of the 17th century their prayers were answered, a single gnome god descended down to this cult and decided it was not worthy enough of it overpowering presences so then decided to cleanse them by setting the church on fire during a ritual. All the monks and nuns died, and the church was burnt to a crisp, all that was left there, untouched, was the gnome god its self. A two decades past by, until the mayor of the village wanted to build his new house where the church once was. As his new home was being built he noticed that there was a spotless gnome that would always appear, even then the workers attempted to get rid of it. Once the house was built and the mayor moved in the gnome would randomly appear in a random room in his house, this went on for 6 years causing him to go insane which caused his family to abandon him. The mayor finally couldn’t take it anymore and got the courage to try and break the gnome, but of course the gnome is to powerful for a mere human. This led to the gnome becoming angry and frustrated causing it to kill the mayor instantly. Of course nobody wanted to live on this plot of land because of the fire and death, so by the year 1737 a local lord came across this nice looking house not knowing about the unfortunate history about bought the land and building, but he turned it into a village inn and gifted it to his youngest son. This son came across the gnome one day when checking in at the inn, now he had heard some tales about the gnomes from his nanny and did not make the same mistake that the others had done and chose to respect the gnome and let it do its godly things. Century’s go by and its now the present day, and the gnome inn is still to this day haunted by the mayor that died in 1726, and as for the gnome in the 1950s some supernatural investigators decided it would be best to lock the gnome god up ( like in Annabelle ) and is still locked up but now on display those who stay or drink at the gnome inn. Who knows what if the gnome god gets released would it summon its fellow gnome gods to seek revenge or has it lost is godly powers?
