College classes online seem pretty rough. I've only had one MRI and it was w/o contrast, so I can't imagine how tiring one with contrast would be. Unfortunately my issue with parasitic insects might not be over because the weather up here got really cold over the weekend, so they might've fled to the walls & escaped death there. But hopefully it's at least better now than it was before. On a lighter note, we're doing an experiment looking at evolution in real time using ecoli in my bio class (it's incredibly interesting! because you mix Ampicillin sensitive and Ampicillin resistant ecoli together. In one tube there's regular LB broth, but in the other you add Ampicillin. And the whole premise is that they ecoli in the LB AMP would evolve to be Ampicillin resistant, but the LB broth wouldn't because they don't need too) , and I'm so excited to be handling bacteria again! Plus I found out a little later in the semester we're doing pGLO (it's a really fun lab! You transform Ecoli by inserting the pGLO gene, which comes from a jellyfish, then the ecoli produces GFP and it GLOWS UNDER BLACKLIGHT AND IT'S SO COOL!!) and I'm so absolutely insanely mega excited for that!
Wait I can drop a fun fact about yogurt! So in order to make yogurt, they usually use Lactobacillus acidophilus to ferment the milk product into yogurt. Lactobacillus species & Bacillus species are pretty much the only two groups of bacteria to produce endospores, which are incredibly cool in their own right.
