I grew up near Portland and had extended family near Seattle. I've been on that freeway so many times I have memorized nearly every twist and turn. I moved away in 1988. The I-5 in your video looked much as I remembered it, except the traffic was heavier.
I did a similar ride in 2014 myself!!! I did Portland Oregon to Seattle and vice versa. It was great! Thanks for all your uploads! Whenever I miss being west these are a great comfort!
It is great to see the west coast by car....I have yet in my life to get there and do a long distance from LA to Seattle, Wa. This video is very beautiful & informative- thanks again, Barbie 😊👍👍
Love the trees and the bridges! What an awesome drive! By the way, noticed not many cars turned on their headlights in the heavy rain... In Australia, we can get fined for not turning them on in that sort of weather :)
+Kristy Warner It may be a state law. Each of the 50 states have laws- I know that the state in which I live (Virginia) it is the law to have on lights when wipers are in use.
It amazes me on the population growth in the northwest. Those freeways are crowded even when you are not in an urban area. Oregon and Washington used to be pretty remote, not anymore.
I'm From Texas, & let me tell ya I passed by there & it was an awesome site to look at, just Gorgeous.... Texas is so plain compared to Washington State!!
+Daniel Parra yeah some parts of Texas are just dry! Louisiana has so many trees but it's boring and there is nothing to do here especially in the central part! Washington on the other hand is beautiful I went in 2010 and hope to go this year
Of course! Considering that The Golden State is the nickname for California, obviously when you get to Oregon or Washington Interstate 5 will acquire different names. Like if you were to go North on I-5 before coming to Los Angeles. First it's the The San Diego Freeway driving through San Diego, then when splits up up with the I-405(San Diego Freeway), I-5 then becomes the Santa Ana Freeway until you get to Downtown Los Angeles where it does change into The Golden State Freeway, originally destined for Bakersfield, but heads out to Oakland and Sacramento before heading out towards "the Great Northwest".

Thanks for uploading this. This is one of my favorite drives, between 2 major cities, anywhere in this country. Nice video!
My favorite is Bakersfield to Los Angeles, the tejon pass is amazing and the newhall pass interchange is just amazing

Interstate 5 originally goes from Mexico to Canada.
You are right so I-5 is 1,381 miles

The portion south of Los Angeles used to be U.S. 101 until 1964.
David Mata
I noticed that while I was at Oceanside. Did that U.S. 101 go all the way to the Mexican Border?

I wish I had a dime for every time I've made the same trip. I'd be a "Thousandaire".
If you wish you had a 10-cent of a coin.
for Milwaukee to Las Vegas, there is another way to get there. Interstate 80 to Salt Lake City, and then turn to Interstate 15.
Matthew Wang--- Correct but that will take longer

Too fast, But Awesome scenic Video, I'm from Texas, but most of the state is almost treeless & flat, Washington State Rules in Natural Scenery.....
Wow, their freeways aren;t crowded at all. They need to bring some more immigrants in.
Drive Cross Bronx Expy in NYC westbound any time between 7am and 10pm.
Congradulations! You just said something highly controversial!
Gus Grizzel if you go to California there's a lot of traffic it's worse than this traffic
I know I was surprised on how crowded those freeways were. They used to be empty when I was a kid in the late 1970's.
