It’s a solid offering but it’s not wowing me or offering much complexity IMO… $180… I don’t need a backup… if I had the opportunity to try before I buy… I would probably pass at that price. If someone asked me in a blind what I’d be willing to pay, I’d probably say closer to $100 range. Cheers🥃 After all that you’ll still probably buy it😅😇
@@justwhisky TBH I have to say Thank You. You really just saved me under $200. I was getting the itch to place the order then this longer/thoughtful message came thru to my feed. No more. I'll let other people get it. Thx again.
@@justwhiskybelieve it or not I have not bought a Bruichladdich 18 year. Top shelf Whisky just gave it a glowingly positive review so I’m reacquainting myself with your thoughts on this. I still don’t think I’m buying it.
@@TheReal_DeanD I subscribe to their channel but to be honest I don’t relate to most of their reviews… in fact most other reviews align that although nice… it’s a soft overpriced offering…and I’m a huge Bruichladdich fan… just relaying my perspective. I would buy Old Pultney 18 @ $150 all day long over the B18… just saying 😇 Cheers 🥃
As a Bruichladdich fan you won’t be disappointed but not wowed either…. Especially at that price but they are delivering everything us Enthusiasts ask for… no lipstick just well aged distillate driven mostly ex bourbon maturation. Cheers 🥃
I saw the 18 the other day for $190. I'd love to get my taste buds on it, but it is simply beyond my price comfort zone. Thanks for the review. Cheers!
I have been super curious about this one and I admit my hand hovered over the buy button more than once but at the end the price deterred me from pulling the trigger. Sounds like everything I expect it would be but honestly you can't think beyond the price and the price does ruin or elevate the experience. Thanks John for the review and the comparisons, cheers!
Cheers for your review mate. You did a much better job than I did with the packaging. Imo needs time in the bottle to settle down, but after 3 weeks resting I have been reaching for it and it has been getting better and better. I will definitely re-review it in a month or two once it has had time to breathe. Cheers 🥃
Thanks 🙏… agree it will likely improve over time… however I did compare it to the Rockn’daal 2.1 (2023 Feis lle) 16 year and preferred it over the new 18. Cheers 🥃
That’s good to hear. Just picked up a bottle yesterday and the neck pour, with no water, left me pretty unimpressed. And I let it sit in the glass for a half hour before trying.
@@justwhiskyThanks. Gonna try it with water this evening. I’ll be patient with it - A few couple months ago I had a bad start with Laphroaig 10 Sherry Oak. I wasn’t “unimpressed”….I really flat out didn’t like it, but now it’s fantastic. LOL.
It seems, anything over 15 years of age is priced out of reach for many. Bunna 18, Highland Park 18, Arran 18, are all good examples. Great whiskies but too pricey. I wonder how the likes of Speyburn 18, Ancnoc 18 would stack up against these.
This Bruichladdich is everything we’ve been asking for… mostly exbourbon… with no lipstick and yet it’s still open to critique mainly due to price. The Speyburn 18 & AnCnoc 18 are not available in my area but are heavily sherry influenced which might tip the scales ? Cheers 🥃
I need to expand my Bruichladdich collection! I did just pick up the Octomore 14.1 though. That's the first one I've added in awhile. Cheers to ya
Everyone should try an Octomore if they get a chance.
Cheers 🥃
Ohh love that one smoky bacon bomb
@@MultiCasking that 14.1 is sublime!

I like your descriptor of “that barley bite” on the younger Bruichladdichs. That hits the mail on the head. Really good assessment.
Thanks Joe!

Sounded so good. Yes, youthful, but really good. Cheers!
Yummy but pricey.

Hmm. Decisions decisions. Loved the review and appreciate the honesty. My local total wine got a case in. If I can get to the store I’ll flip a coin.

Where's the PC18 for sale in the US? I can't find it anywhere but directly from Bruichladdich. Thx

I thought the NAS Islay Barley was a lot at $87. This is locally priced at $195.

Thanks for another great review. Will you review the PC18 or the 30YO Bruichladdich? Would set a reminder. Thank you👍
Thanks for tuning in. Definitely not the 30 yr@ $2000!
Possibly the PC 18 for my Patreons…

Nice breakdown. Classic Laddie is such good value, these aged and priced up releases really need to impress. Cheers!

I definitely been getting that vibe from what I've seen/read. the 18 is good but maybe not $180 good. But nobodies really begrudging the price point.
Agree…
