Even though the Yoshis and Nabbit can’t die by running into enemies, it doesn’t mean that they are entirely invincible. They can still lose a life if they get crushed or fall into a pit.

That only happens when you get a Game Over, unlike the previous 2D Mario games, where you get sent back to the World Map after losing a life.

That only happens when a playable character is in Goomba form. Otherwise, it’s the standard damage and death animations.
