In this video I show a technique to Emboss text on a complex surface. The Emboss tool only works directly with straight walls either cylinders or cones. Anything more complex and it just won't let you select the surface. Here's a workaround. Enjoy!

Thank you so much for the tutorial! Was trying to wrap a pattern around a lofted handle and wasn't able to select the face for it, but extruding a cylinder from the loft profile worked great.

Thank you for your video. It is quite informative!
I do have a question. In your video when you apply the text to the egg, you can see the text is curving downward. Would it be possible to create it somehow that when you look directly at the text on the egg, that the text is horizontally straight ? If so, could you explain how to do that?

Yes, you can use a surface offset instead of the copy body technique I showed. Both will get you to the same place.

I used an offset surface to trim it after I joined it to the top.
