    I'm so sorry this video has reached the parts of the internet of the people refusing to accept people for who they are and who lack basic human decency. This video is amazing honestly. The hook, the redirect, and the cutaway is so masterful.
    To spell it out for those that can't see it. The idea of the video is that people who actively use language that disrespects people's identities and who they are is frustrating for the fact that ITS NOT WHO THEY ARE. it's not right to call someone a name or a pronoun because you refuse to either respect them or bother to have human empathy. You don't have to understand someone or share their experience to just call them a name or pronoun that makes them comfortable.
    Pronouns are not the fucking problem. The people using it as a method to be hateful or discriminatory is.
    Humans have literally used they them pronouns for people before we started to talk about using them as pronouns. Y'all are just acting butthurt for no reason.
    Also please stop making the "I identify as a (object)! Haha". It's not original. Either get new material or shut up.
    Like seriously i stg every fucking person who refuses to respect people's identities use that goddamn joke and it's so overused. I request better jokes to go with your opinions.
    Thank you for coming to my ted talk

    • @lennardchurch8483
      @lennardchurch8483 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      The premise is factually wrong. The third-person-singular pronouns are based on biological sex, not mutable self-perceived notions of "identity". The gender cult redefined words to turn them into something they could take offense at, when that's not what they are, and the people who use the long-established grammatically correct pronouns aren't being "disrespectful" by doing so.
      Referring to someone with "XX" Chromosomes as "she" or "her" is not a disrespect, or a judgement, it's an acknowledgement of biological facts.
      The other side of the argument are the people trying to compel speech onto the rest of society, forcing people to use different language based on what the gender-cult re-defined them to mean, without consulting the rest of society. And justifiably most of society rejects this blatant narcissistic manipulative tactic.
      If a person actually has gender dysphoria, that person will find that most people are completely fine using that person's name, avoiding pronouns all-together. That is being respectful, without having to give up one's own beliefs and observation of reality to accommodate another person. Anyone who has a problem with people using the grammatically correct pronouns or not using pronouns at all, is the problem.
      You're not more special than anyone else, and if you want respect from other people, you have to show it. The big problem is that the gender-cult doesn't respect anyone who stands up to their attacks on objective reality.

      @lennardchurch8483 you should do reaserch on what consists of a cult. That might help immensely in defining what is happening here. Personally I grew up in what could be considered a cult and this is not it chief.
      Also many things have had similar up and comings like being out as LGBT. We used to beat and punish children for being left handed because it was seen as different and bad. But after that treatment stopped we saw a noticeable rise in left handed people. Did they all just appear? Was it a new fashioned movement? No. They just whernt being punished for who they were anymore.
      Also, fun fact chromosomes are not a reliable way to tell a person's sex. It's common for chromosomes to have a pattern but actually variations are pretty common. You yourself might have an interesting chromosome pattern and unless you invest in a test to sequence your chromosomes you will never know!
      There are some variations that can cause lifelong issues but it's actually pretty common to have slight variations and you just will live your entire silly little life without knowing!
      Also you missed my point so hard friend. We have been using they / them in language for so long before we started identifying it as a pronoun. (I've even used it multiple times in this response!)
      "They forgot their jacket"
      "Don't forget to tell them about the project"
      "Im just minding my own buisness" they said
      There are infinite resources that explain that more and I fully reccomend you look into them!
      Also if your doing that please simply google the phrase "does respecting trans children increase their life expectancy "
      Or better yet look at Google scholar and look for peer reviewed studies that specifically show that respecting trans people leads to similar amounts of depression and suicidal thoughts as their peers.(aka less and not very many) But disrespecting their identity makes that depression, self harm, and suicidal ideation go way up!
      There is so much imperical evidence that proves that trans people are who they say they are. This isn't a cult. It's not a delusion. I really do genuinely encourage you to look up these studies as they could be incredibly informative.
      Also language has evolved over time for all of humanity pal.
      Like how we don't use retarded, or crippled as definitions of disabled people. We view coloured people as people of colour rather then the likes of what we're used in history.
      We refer to native people as native American rather then as Indians. The English language is always evolving as we find way to be respectful and to be more inclusive of our language. The history of all of these is incredibly rich, and would you guess, ALSO ALL PUBLICLY AVAILABLE 😃😃😃
      Me and any other trans or nonconforming person are not asking you to give up your beliefs and values. We are asking for respect my guy.
      Which leads to finally. My last insane belief.
      Respect should be mutual. Not every trans/nonconforming person is going to chew you out for mistakenly misgendering them. (If they freak out after you misgender them once, that's on THEM, not the entire group. A significant portion of trans/nonconforming people will simply correct you then move on) But they might have something to say if you go on rants like these out in public to people faces. Wouldn't you know it people don't like to be told that their very existence is wrong.
      If you want respect pal, you gotta show it. You get returned to you what you put into the world. If you look for negativity you'll find plenty of it. But if you look for the positives and for tolerance and respect you will see it.
      The same way if what you put into the world is hate filled messages saying a group is wrong for what they feel, someone will respond in a mildly sarcastic way to tell you genuine information that has been proven by scientific numerous times. And it continues to prove it
      I know I make my jokes but I genuinely do encourage you to do more reaserch. In the age of the internet we have so much information around us, more then ever before. It's a chance for all of us to know more then ever and to grow so much as human beings. Please do more reaserch friend. I feel like it could be immensely helpful in your journey as a human being.
      Please be respectful, do your research, and have a lovely day friend. 💙

    Here, a huge LGBTQIA+ supporter. I support them as I support any other existence. Still this pronoun game is as stupid as nit supporting the community.
    It goes against the fundamental purpose of "pronouns" and even language itself. Pronouns allow us to refer to a person without needing to know them personally.

    • @J_Trask
      @J_Trask ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Yes that is a HUGE point of pronouns. You can refer to people you don’t know with these universal pronouns that have been used in language for thousands of years. It would make day to day life much more difficult if you had to somehow know how a person LIKES to be referred to. I don’t have the time or patience to refer to someone the way THEY (singular, general person of unspecified gender) want.
      The difference between homosexuality and transgenderism is that homosexuality is a sexual preference in other people. Transgenderism is a completely psychological phenomenon that exists in the mind.
      In nature, there are natural laws that developed the characteristics of men and women that have developed over millions of years out of necessity.
      We live in a country that, in the last several decades, has (for the time being) removed the need for men to act like men, and women to act like women. This is the catalyst for the gender confusion the country is now experiencing.
      Now, if you “feel” like you’re the wrong sex, you can just pretend in superficial ways to be the gender you want to be, including “gender reassignment surgery”and that’s all you need to do! In any part of the world where people have to hunt and forage for food, people stick to traditional gender roles and never think about gender dysphoria. And I’d bet money that if the US collapsed today, and people had to hunt for their food, “trans-men” would immediately find themselves feeling more feminine, and begin looking for a real biological man to protect them from bad actors and to provide for them.
      I say all this with love and compassion. I have zero hate for anyone, and abhor violence, especially against gay and trans people.

      @@J_TraskI've been to college and many other places and I've never met a they/them. They're a rare group and I think most of them probably don't want all this attention. I think the only reason we're talking about them is because one side of the political aisle decided to use them as a way to rile up voters because tax cuts for the rich and corporations weren't really inspiring people to support them. Giving voters something to fear enough that they'll vote against it is how you can get supporters when you're unable to actually offer them anything they want like higher wages and social spending programs that Europeans enjoy.
      If someone wants to be called they/them, I'll try to accommodate them. It's not a massive amount of effort for me. If I accidentally call them by the wrong pronoun and they get offended, l'll apologize. It's easier than complaining and telling them they're insane and harming me by demanding I say they/them. I've still never met one though, so yeah... this issue is not really important to me. I would like if people respected each other and got along though, so...if someone asks you to refer to them with they/them pronouns, just try your best. I assume they'll appreciate it. omg the stupidity, where will this all end? I was in san diego a few days ago, and was walking down the street just a few mins away from the safari park, and it was kinda crowded there , and this lady was standing right in front of me, so all I said was "Hey miss can you please shift aside a bit, I need to reach somewhere asap" to which she/idk angrily replied- "OKAY, but I'm nonbinary so do not address me as miss".
    I'm still confused what should I've said- "Hey everyone can you all please gimme some side?"
    These are weird times we're living in.
    Also in the context of this video, name and pronouns are very different, Those who know you or are close to you can address you by your name, but some random dude will always call you "you". If I don't know you, what should I be referring to you as, Hey miss, hey sir only no? Lemme make a suggestion, there are certain features that helps us distinguish b/w man and woman, the trans people (wadr) should develop these too, a complete dynamic shift.
    Also oxford including xyz in their dictionary doesn't mean we all should accept it, Oxford have millions of words in their, do we use 'them'?

This was a grown, tall man with a beard and 0 interest in anything feminine. And I called him she/her without any issues until he told me to stop :)

Trans people are the same, they were born trans, they were born into the wrong bodies for their brains, some of them figure that out young, some figure it out during puberty, like me finding out i was gay. We were born this way,it doesn't matter if we get rid of the labels, even without saying I'm gay i will still be attracted to boys, if a trans person doesn't say they are trans they will still want to be the opposite sex. If we only use labels then and i can say I'm trans and a lesbain but i won't want to be a girl or sleep with them.

    But why doesn’t the LGBTQ community, focus more on the fact that their pronouns do not define them? Like they must have preferences in the first place due to there being differences between the pronouns. Why don’t we try to break the stereotypes such as “a person identifying by she/her must be feminine” instead? I think preferences are what create a gap, because in the end, people with the same preferences will be attracted to the same type of pronoun, and the entire prejudice will repeat itself.

    • @PeacefulPariah
      @PeacefulPariah ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sex and gender are two different things. You cannot use them interchangeably. This is not some liberal opinion, but is scientifically accepted fact. Sex is biological, gender is sociological. Let me break it down for you. A common gender role is that women should do the laundry. But are women's bodies biologically designed to carry out this task better than me? No it's a gender role which is dictated by Society. Make sense? Our society just decided that. Therefore, gender is not based on biological sex. Of course it is often dictated by it and are correlations but the two are separate things.

    • @sirrobin8601
      @sirrobin8601 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PeacefulPariah You just effectively used sex and gender interchangeably. You stated: "A common gender role is that women should do the laundry." Now "women" is the plural of "woman", which is an adult, human female. Or another way we could define it would be: an adult human of the female sex. So in other words we could rewrite what you said as: "A common gender role is that adult humans of the female sex should do the laundry."
      Now looking at the etymology of the word, gender started becoming interchangeable around the early 15th century. Which makes sense because around that time the word "sex" was being used more in the erotic sense. So yeah, it would be weird to say: "A common sexual role is that women should do the laundry." That would in modern parlance imply some sort of weird kink or something, so instead we say: "a common gender role is that women should do the laundry." Sex and gender can be and should be used interchangeably. Otherwise it just doesn't make sense.

    What Is a Lobotomy? A lobotomy is a surgical procedure to provide relief to people with mental illnesses unresponsive to standard treatment. This method was pioneered during the 1940s and 1950s, when treatments for psychiatric disorders were few, chiefly insulin coma and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT).

    Not changing the english language to feed into either the group of people who "identify" as other things as an outlet for their narcissism or the true misalignment of body and mind from the group who genuinely suffer from gender dysphoria isn't disrespectful or mean. Acknowledging reality and making sure we all live in it is the only way to move forward. Reality: we are born male and female and can not change our sex. Reality: Language acknowledges our sex and uses that as a key identifying characteristic because it is the best characteristic to use to simultaneously narrow down 50% of the population yet still be broad enough to be colloquially understood.

The world doesn't revolve around them so I don't need to keep myself updated about whether they decide to be a shoe lace or a door today.

      Same here. Couldnt have said it better. These people have so much free time on their hands. They have forgotten that names were given to people as identification. You don't need to "Identity as" you already freaking have one.
      So called woke people trash talk people like us for saying stuff like this and be like "u shud make the minorities feel comfortable" like hello what about us? It makes us uncomfortable to jump on this "trend" you guys have got going which doesn't even make sense. And you connect it with respect and all that and it's so stupid god.
      Kids in school are identifying as animals. Barking literally! Men going to women jail claiming to be women then doing SA.
      It's just giving a free pass to wreck havoc to a society which is filled with equal percentage of good and equal percentage of psychopaths.
      Good people will either stay neutral or will just be polite. But bad ones will misuse it
      And that's whats happening but again too many people have too much free time and not enough real problems in their lives to invest time in these nonsense

    People get my name wrong all the time. It’s not important. It’d be pretty childish of me to get worked up and offended by something that so insignificantly effects my life. It has no effect on my day what so ever unless I let it. -and a pronoun is even less important and personal than a name. My joy and peace are not dependent on what other people call me. An external locus of control is unhealthy.
