Good job/review....as always. Looking forward to your upcoming "comparison" video of two spoke TT wheels speed gains (or not....) vs. the Disc wheels.....as you mentioned here as not having done yet.
@@ronykuba some tests to see which wheel is faster ? Either a deep section or disk wheel ? Obviously holding the same power, bike and tyres. There is a lot of debate on internet about this and a lot of wind tunnel data but almost no real world tests
@@gabrielcevallos3536 why would a manufacturer bother to design and manufacture a disc wheel, if a normal spoked wheel would be faster? Check the data here: www.aero-coach.co.uk/store/product/aerocoach-aeox-zephyr-aero-wheels-2
Is Corsa Speed the fastest option for a clincher wheel with inner tube? I have seen it is the fastest tyre when run tubeless, but i’m not sure it is still the fastest option when an inner tube is needed, e.g. Zipp clincher.
Ronald Kuba. The data compares Continental TT with standard Butyl tube against Corsa Speed tubeless. Continental TT with a latex tube would be closer to the Corsa Speed tubeless. Also, Corsa speed would be slower with a tube fitted. So i don’t know the answer.
The problem with the data from bicyclerollingresistance.com is that they are all tested at the same pressure which is necessary for a fair test but doesn't represent the real world. You wouldn't run a tubular tyre at the same pressure you would run a clincher and when the pressure is higher then there is less friction. They have good results for comparing tyres head to head but not when it comes to clinchers vs tubulars vs tubeless
Super useful video. How is you opinion on disc wheel now? I don't think, that you use 2 Spokes wheels anymore - why? What is their weight? Do you think they would be good in uphill time trial (7% avg incl and 7km)? Thanks
Hi found a zipp super 9 disc for sale on internet and my question is do you recommend buying even if it has a small Crack or dent. Was told by people that it can be repaired with a carbon fiber patch
Hi Ronald, may you tell me which of these two discs are on your bike during the opening sequence of this video? Your are driving so fast I can’t recognize it. But I guess it is the Zipp right? One question. While driving with these discs, will you even recognize the wosshing sound when driving fast or will this be only hearable by overtaken people?
Thoughts on the Vision Metron disc? Available in clincher models now, looks like same with the Vision 3-spoke. I'm using a Zipp 900 tubular currently and looking to upgrade to something wider. Thanks!
Hi ron! I am going to be getting a disc soon, for time trialing, I have the frame (felt da1) and all and want to finish it off with a disc (I am thinking the zipp disc). I have been wanting to ask if when you train outdoors, do you still train with a disc, or do you use some thing else? I have heard stories of people getting dents or dings in their full carbon discs.
Ronald, i have a Vittoria Corsa tubular wheel, and it lose an air pressure after 13-15 hours. Somewhere a read, that it is normal for this particular tube. What do you know about it? Should it be fully inflated for a long time or it is a regular thing for this tube?
If you had to choose one which would you choose? I am having trouble choosing. My P5 came with Jet Black 6 wheels so adding the Jet Black Disc would be easy match and don't have to change pads. But Super 9 is considered the best by so many....
@@ronykubaExcellent! Thank you kindly. I'm looking at a mint HED Stinger 90 Tomorrow. Rear disc wheel. Guys owned it for years but stored it away in its original bag. £100 fingers 🤞 crossed. Thank you brother. I really enjoyed your video. Excellent knowledge. Stay safe 😊
Would love if you could get your hands on and review the aerocoach aeox disc/100 front/75 front wheels and compare them against these also. They are stupid heavy but claim to be just as, if not more aero than any of your current TT wheels. Represent great value for money though. Love to hear your thoughts on them? 🙂
I see HED recommends that you don’t use tubeless on their disc wheels because it can dimple the faring. What is your experience, are they just covering themselves? I have a Flo disc that is tubeless ready, and they have the same construction. I don’t have any my faring wrinkling using tubeless.
Jonathan Zappala it can't dimple the fairing on the disc, as you tighten the nut directly against the aluminium rim. It could on the other depth wheels, but not if you use a Silca shield.
Ronald Kuba they claim that the tighter bead can compress the rim which can dimple the sides in their warning on the website. I would think it would take a whole lot more pressure to do that than what anyone would be riding.
Jonathan Zappala I think you misunderstood something. If the tire could deform the rim, how could it be strong enough to take riding loads? The issue is related to tightening the valve nut against the fairing. This problem can be easily solved by a Silca speed shield and is not present on the disc at all.
Ronald Kuba this is what their website says “1. We do not recommend tubeless tire use on Jet Disc wheels. Slight rim compression from the tighter, non-elastic beads on tubeless tires may result in dimpling on the carbon disc sides.”
Citec - with a 22mm external width, it is not a valid option in 2018 Flo - good option, but the availability is sketchy since releasing this video, Roval have released a very nice TL ready disc, and ENVE prototypes have also been spotted, so it might change soon. I am definitely looking forward to getting my hands on the ENVE disc.
Citec is a bit too narrow, true. I'll try to get my hands on a Flo disc, should be a nice fit with the corsa speed tubeless. Roval 321 disc sure looks nice, but 2500€ exceeds my budget, I doubt that the Enve disc will be any cheaper.
Have you tried testing a Revolver Wheel - the Asymm FWS disc has a lot of UK national championship wins and podiums in olympics and commonwealth games. Saw a few team GB youth riders in the world championships on them. I’m told they’re faster than the super 9.
Ronald Kuba maybe one for the future? Similar design being lenticular (think they came up with the concept) and supposed to be fast.im ordering one shortly once wind tunnel testing is completed on a few tweaks they’ve made

I got a good offer on the 2 Spokes almost 2 years ago, so I've sold them. The wheelset weight is 2100g so not really a hill climb wheelset.

Sam Meullenet I don't have training wheels. You can't damage any wheel with regular riding, just careless manipulation.
