Managed to mispronounce words in every language. Seriously dents his authority. I mean, a lot of elementary school English gets mispronounced. I'm embarrassed for the narrator.
During the War of Quadruple alliance, Spain went 1v4 against Austria, France, Britain, and the Netherlands. Spain took less casualties and lost no land.
In my travels through the vast Spanish empire, I have been amazed at how Spaniards treat Indians, like others, even forming mestizo families and creating hospitals and universities for them. I have met indigenous and even military mayors and bishops, which means in the social peace, well-being and general happiness that we already wanted for us in the territories that with so much effort, we are taking them away.
Great video - succinct summary on an extremely broad topic! This really helped me as I’m getting into Spanish history. I’m half Filipino and obviously part Spanish. I’m either 1/8 or 1/16… not a whole whole lot but it’s enough for me to want to learn. More people should be aware of Spanish history, as most of us are linked to it…
This is NOT a good explanation. You cannot start with the Roman times and go into modern time just skipping the whole huge period of reconquista. That is an extremely important long period of time. Also misspelling Barcelona is just unforgivable.
All pronunciation errors aside, this is an excellent and comprehensive summary of Spain and exactly the info I was interested in! There is enough information in this video to provide deep dive off points for further study of Spain and her history. Thanks for the excellent content! Lik'd and Sub'd
Harry Truman was a voracious reader but reading doesn't tell you how to say stuff, and he was just as famous for saying stuff in weird ways. In a time where dictionary definitions are being re-written on a nearly daily clip to satisfy leftists control of the language, pronunciations really takes a back seat to the concept they hold.

Britain itself wasnt apart of spain but due the fact that the queen of england was catholic and had married the emperor of the holy roman empire and the spanish empire, it became a habsburg monarchy until elizabeth coming into power when they turned into the house of tudor, which meant the protestant church came back into england and the catholics were forced out.
thank you. you taught me something. i'd like to add the tidbit that the famous painting "the bombing of guernica" was of the nazi luftwaffe bombing to help franco's forces during the civil war. it made sure it didn't bomb the unceta y cia factory allowing unceta to sell pistols to the nationalists, which he favored over the euskadi separatists to whom he had been selling prior to this. the company later sold pistols of 9mm largo,9mm parabellum and .380 acp to the nazis during ww2.
he married Queen Mary I and become King of England in through his wife. after Mary I died. he also ceased to become an English King after Elizabeth Tudor ascended the throne
Pronunciation could really use some work, cringed hard a few times with the way the narrator butchered some names/words. Makes me suspect this is just someone reading a script and didn’t put in the actual work to gain the sufficient knowledge.
He must've encountered too many words and names that he didn't know: I'm willing to bet that not too many North Americans even know what "abdicated" means, which was why he misread it. He should honestly reedit everything, and try to post this video again.
@@Suite_annamite Oh North Americans know abdicated very well. It's in near every princess story and stories of intrigue. That covers both boys and girls stories.

Spain, located in southwestern Europe, is known for its diverse geography, including mountain ranges like the Pyrenees and Sierra Nevada, vast plains, and beautiful coastlines. The country is made up of a variety of landscapes, from the green hills of Galicia to the arid plains of Castilla-La Mancha. On the "Geography map" of Spain, you'll see distinct regions with unique climates and terrains, contributing to its rich biodiversity and culture.
Fun fact about Spain: Did you know that Spain is home to two unique archipelagos, the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands? 🌍 On a geography map, you’ll notice the Canary Islands are located off the northwest coast of Africa, while the Balearic Islands are nestled in the Mediterranean Sea. These islands offer diverse landscapes, from volcanic mountains to beautiful beaches, making Spain even more fascinating on the map!
I really really like this video but there's a glaring issue with narration! I mean I think the narrator was mainly chosen because of his sound quality as being young and relatable to young audiences. Correction: Portugal was the first global empire, Portuguese empire started in 1415. When Spain discovered America Portugal already had a lot o colonies in Africa.
Correction: Portugal did not have territories in Oceania. It only controlled the route to Asia around Africa. It was not a Global empire. It had nothing between the coasts of Brazil and the Moluccas, more than half the world. Portugal began the Age of Discoveries, but already in the 16th century it was clearly surpassed by Spain.
Spain is a leader in organ harvesting and transplanting? 😅 What a weird example to point to when trying to illustrate that Spain is an advanced economy. You could have chosen the textile, agriculture, or tile industries-but organ harvesting came first to mind? 😅
How is this video so highly ranked? The comments must be from bots and the pronunciations are hilariously wrong. Nevermined major historic events that were simply glossed over or ignored.
Some errors on the video since the Portuguese were the 1st global empire, not the spanish, and the spanish route trough africa into India also did not happen as the spanish had to go through the pacific to the philippines in order to avoid the portuguese on the sea and possible losses in battle for both sides
Skipped right thru how Hebrews settled the lberian peninsula. Never mentioned how the city of Barcelona is named for the family of Hannibal Barca the "so called" black, great general who gave everyone he faced hell.

The pronunciation of names is atrocious. Al-Andalus was mangled. I mean, no one, NO ONE would know what he's talking about if they said it like he does. Very sad considering this is supposed to be an educational video.
Horrific pronunciations were a real turn-off. With all the tools available on the internet to help you pronounce words, I am amazed you would make this video without using even one. Mispronouncing even English words makes the whole effort sound, well, uneducated.
Excuse me but the great economic growth of Spain didnt happen with the adoption of the euro but in Franco's time, that is to say, during the 60s and 70s. The adoption of the Euro was a bad issue for Spain, since the euro only favoured Germany and some useless countries of the North.
The history was good but the pronunciations are cringe-worthy. Please come to Spain, clearly for your first time, and learn how the words are pronounced.
This is a good video considering you are summing up the history of one of the most fascinating countries in the world in less than 10 minutes.
