- The Ross steering upgrade kit will greatly improve your steering in your garden tractor, and it only takes a few minutes to install. If you would like to purchase one of these kits go to eBay Ross steering upgrade kit seller "not.e.nough" the originator of the Ross Steering upgrade kit. If you check out my feedback on eBay you will see that I have sold hundreds of these kits all over the globe and everyone that's purchased one raves on how well they work. If your tractor has a Ross steering column with a 5/8" treaded shaft this kit will work. I also carry many other hard to find one of kind tractor parts.. Beware of sellers like "kawicats" that has never sold 1 of these kits, and then lies about established top rated sellers that have sold hundreds all over the globe without one complaint or one return over the years. I think our feedback speaks for it self.
Done several of these and I really can't say I've ever seen a real difference from before and after.
Good video...but....they are not packed with grease...you must grease it yourself..it is even mentioned in the instructions that it is necessary
So how about a video demonstrating the before and after difference.
The one I purchased did not have a thrust bearing. It had a radial bearing, which does nothing at all.
This guy is a lier he never bought anything found that he been selling the same kit.
The kit work by removing the friction between the linkage and the column.
I get that it makes steering easier but will it help to remove the excessive play in the steering?
Sorry for the slow response to answer your question no it will not remove the play.
Thank you.
@@augiescafidi2697 You take out the excessive play with the large adjustment cap in the bottom of the steering box. Remove the cotter pin and tighten it down the whole way using a large regular screwdriver, rotating the steering shaft back and forth as you do. Then you'll want to back the cap off just enough until the steering shaft rotates freely with no binding,. Replace the cotter pin, you have to back the cap up a little to get the cotter pin to align correctly, and you're done..
Also wondering how it works?
removing the friction between the linkage and the column i hope this helps 3 years later
Are you sure these kits will fit on a john deere 317 ? I went to buy one of these kits on kirk engines site they were marked for cub cadet , so i sent him a email and he answered the it would not because the stud size on the JD was larger than the cub so it wouldn't work,, i would like to purchase a kit like this of it would fit my 317..
Check out Corbeau-Customs he has a kit for the JD tractors 317 and many others
It's supposed to be "The next best thing to power steering"
and it works
I couldn't believe how well it worked
This kit is useless " it doesn't help the ease of steering at all .
Just another scam .
What does work well are the needle bearings installed on the front spindles. JMO
OK...so installed this only to find out it does NOTHING...only 20 bucks...but don't waste your money
You can get a thrust bearing and thrust washers from Grainger, or Amazon for a lot less.
Why anyone would buy this kit is beyond me. You can buy the needed parts for less than $10 and do it yourself.
they buy it because it a simple fix and it works
For the same reason you bought one because it works awesome, And the instruction are very detailed.
