Interesting way to calculate wind. Very curious to test it, thanks for sharing!

How can I tell the wind speed in the golf course? Any tip? Very nice video

Check the weather apps for direction,
Speed and guest speed before play

Very interesting to hear calculations into wind as I would tend to hit an extra club at 10mph at all distances which would be wrong for higher yardages. i.e. At 200 yards I should be taking two extra clubs not one. Your way makes sense and not really sure why it wasn't obvious to me! Genuinely learnt something very useful and may save a few shots next time out. Thanks.

+Bruce Lowe Thanks Bruce, I hope it helps lower your scores this year. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and can take something from it!

I enjoyed the video very much. Thank you.
Not sure if you will still get a notification of my question so long after, but I’ll be the dummy and ask, But how can you know the elevation difference in yardage? Are you just estimating? I would think that would be difficult to do.

Thanks Craig, I’m just going off others research and these days with distance lasers they tell you the slope reading, how much longer it will effectively play when up or downhill and it’s close to a yard longer or shorter for every yard up or downhill.

Confused about some claiming different figures for downhill and also downwind. Your video is simpler. Here's another twist: when hitting approaches one also finds they have a uphill lie, or sometimes a downhill lie. How do you deal with that? Don't mean to be critical, I appreciate what you do

How do you calculate cross wind direction ?

    • @TruGolfAcademy
      @TruGolfAcademy  8 ปีที่แล้ว

+666gregor it's a tougher one. You need to work out the angle between wind direction and intended start line. If the wind was into off the left, from 45 degrees I would suggest it will make 50% of the yardage loss.
      Does that make sense?
The difficulty is when you then get into shaping the shot, drawing into the wind or playing for it.
I'm going to film one on shaping shots or playing with the wind when playing in cross winds.

I'm still confused so look forward to the video, thanks.

When you are hitting a lob wedge the wind at the back will take the ball a bit more than .5 per 1 mph wind

It absolutely will vary a little on club, due to launch and spin but gives golfers a pretty good method of calculating 👍🏻

    WHAT ABOUT THE WIND ?

Do in not talk about wind in the video? It’s a very old video, I’ll have to watch again later
