    I know Hashem called Rav Kaplan home - yet, we really need people like him nowadays - a voice of wisdom strength, and compassion. Bless His Soul.

    It works out that 1 + 1= 1 because the Oneness of G-d is in His Infinity. Infinity + 1 is still Infinity. So even though we are finite, we merge into Infinity by adding ourselves to His Oneness.

    Thanks so much for this. I would love the publishing information for the original -- an audiobook of ..Jewish Mediation'' -- but on what label? A must have for my practice; his voice unlocks the meaning for me and enhances the transmission of the text.

      I tried to find the info for you by googling jewish meditation (by the author) on audiobooks, but was unable to do so. You can email the publisher @ sales@mekorjudaica.com and ask if they put out an audiobook, as the rabbi z”l did not. I hope that helps

    I love this, thank you! I just need to get past resistance to say thank you for not making me a gentile, in the Amida, because it feels racist. Any helpful interpretations for this?

    • @rachelgarber1423
      @rachelgarber1423 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Many of these prayers were formulated after the fall of the Temple in 70 CE, when many of the surrounding peoples were still idol worshippers, as well as early Christians, whose belief in the trinity was greatly at odds with the Oneness of Jewish belief.

    • @rachelgarber1423
      @rachelgarber1423 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It think it is because during the time in which the Scriptures were written, it’s from Numbers and Deuteronomy, the “gentiles” Greeks and Romans, were idol worshippers. So the prayer actually refers to the people the Jews lived among.

      i'm hoping you'll respond to this, because i'm taking you seriously, AND AM trying to help you out as you've asked! #1, it is NOT WITHIN THE AMIDAH - THE CONNECTIVE-PRAYER PAR EXCELLENCE!, but only within in the series of Berakhot recited upon waking that such a "thank you" can be found, and #2, AN ANCIENT ALTERNATIVE certainly DOES EXIST: "who has made me an Israelite," i.e., given me responsibility for serving humanity as a member of the Priestly Nation created to assist all humanity as best we can in Connecting with Oneness!

    Henotheists, like pure polytheists, recognize a pantheon of gods, but only worship one of these at a time. The Israelite religion was originally henotheistic; Yahweh was the Israelites' god, but not the only god that existed, as seen in the wording of the First Commandment.

      Messianic religions surface often among oppressed minorities; the term appears several times in the Old Testament, particularly in reference to King Cyrus of Persia, and messianic beliefs persist even into modern times, especially among some sects of Judaism (particularly the Hasidic Lubavitchers), as well as the 19th century Native American Ghost Dancers, the mid-20th century Pacific cargo cults, and the modern Nation of Islam (which combines its messianic/apocalyptic theology with a heavy dose of ufology). Messianic believers often indulge as well in apocalyptic literature, which as often as not describes not only who will arrive, but goes into great (if cryptic) detail as to what will happen when the Anointed One arrives.

    I don't think 'metaphor' is the right word. G-d IS the oneness of the universe. It's kind of like saying that the Obama is a metaphor for the President of the United States. :)
