I'm a Buddhist, therefore interested in meditation(also including different traditions). Out of anything on Kabbalah I've studied, Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan's books have been the most insightful.
Aww dude, when he lightly brought up the talismanic aspects of various Kabbalistic texts and practices especially the golem I was really excited. Awesome Rabbi
A meditative synagogue service would be awesome. I would give people the chance to grow more. I don't care how long it lasts, when you step through the door you are committed to be there for the full ride. Go hard or go home.
@@matisyahup613 In his book "Kabbalah and Meditation" the Rav deliberately hints at the central teaching of Rav Nachman of Breslov z'z'l', the Tikkun HaKlali.
@@londoncalling151 I am familiar with this custom. It is a set of ten tehillim when said in this order ( 16,32,41,42,59,77,90,105,137,150) rectifies the sin of emitting semen in vain. I would be interested to know what Rav says about it.
This is not a custom. Rebbe Nachman of Breslov died at the age of 38, shortly after revealing the Tikkun HaKlali. Rabbi Nathan, who to use an analogy from English literature was the Boswell to Rebbe Nachman's Doctor Johnson, records how reluctant Rebbe Nachman was to reveal this remedy in the first place. Abulafia is insanity. It's difficult to come back to social reality when one indulges too much into magick. Check out the history of these magicians like crowley and such. Too deep into the rabbit hole and you're gone.
The closes to abulafia today would prob be crowley's work and yet look how he ended up. Insane, on drugs, and poor. No one can manipulate or control those forces, that's why real kabbalist stay on the theoretical side of things.
Even Abulafia was not involved in practical uses of the magical parts of kabbalah either...it was pretty much accepted from the medieval times already that you don't use "Kabbalah Maasit" see Shaarei Kedushah from Vital...R' Yosef De La reina and Shlomo Molcho were involved in these things (trying to hasten the coming of the Messiah by force, thru magical practices) and both ended in tragedy..but using magical practices for not such lofty ideas but for your own personal gain or such that wud obviously be so much more so of a sin...

Rabbi Kaplan was beautiful.
Shocking the interviewer seems so well versed in Jewish practice. They didn't have Wikipedia and such back then

I was wondering the same thing. If the lack of response to your question means the answer is no, then I guess we have to read his works.
