✘SYNOPSIS: An anonymously authored memoir from the 1930s tells the tale of a young woman and man’s tumultuous and violent relationship. As the tale goes, the man first fell in love with the woman the moment he first saw her. What started out as a beautiful relationship turns sour when the man’s anger starts to rise and explode in frightening bursts, in which he takes it out on the woman. She believes he still loves her and never really means to harm her. But when they have a child and his anger continues to spiral out of control, she makes the decision to leave with the child, which is the reason for the biased tale in the first place. As the man writes about their “love,” he explores different scenarios in various eras of time. Though when he tries to retell their love story in a non-violent, purely romantic version, the truth always reveals itself in the end. By the time he reaches the modern era, he comes to the realization that their love was never right or fair and sits with the fact that he’s lost the one person who wanted to help him, along with his child.
