I really like what Anson said in the end of the video. As a car enthusiast, owning, driving, living with your favorite car is what matters. As a e92 m3 owner, I'd forget about all the numbers they put on the track or 1/4 miles, be able to enjoy every moment with the car is what attracts me the most.
Dead on when he talked about why he likes cars. I've explained that to others that ask why I am obsessed. It's a machine that you are responsible for, it goes places, it can go fast, it can cruise and most of all, it has taken a century to get to where we are here!
- do you think the electric car generation(soon-ish)will apreciate this? and/or will an EV ever be able to capture the imagination and driver feeling that an M3 has?
the HORIZON Depends! spent the better part of a month editing this one, and we took maybe 7 or 8 hours to shoot it? But that's an abnormally long time in the edit. We usually don't have that much time haha.
Done! Best review ever why to get the convertible with a six speed. Looking at one now and this review solidified my decision to more forward with the purchase. Thank you.
The V8 in the E9X gen is apparently the same exact V10 engine(the ones from M5/M6 from the time) from their race series but with 2 cylinders cut off, so its a very high revving engine with linear power. Unfortunately it being a race engine it brings alot of reliability problems just like the V10 did because a race engine isnt exactly designed to be driven everyday. Non the less, the scream of this engine makes this generation my favourite that no straight six can top off.
Totally right about the sound. Pulled up next to a current M4 at a red light in my Corvette. Got a little revvy. Felt bad for him. The E92, on the other hand... That thing sounds like a buzz saw!
I own a 1973 Camaro with a built 355. Stopped at a red light and an e92 M3 pulled up with a Borla Atak exhaust. Me and the guy started talking and complimenting eachothers rides. I love the sound of the S65! We start revving for fun. We both were giggling like little girls but something about an old school American V8 does wonders to the soul. He wanted my car bad and truthfully I wanted his haha but nothing will make me sell my Camaro. Cool story man and love this videos on this channel!
Just purchased an e93 and even with the British cold weather the roof has been down a few times the sound driving through the country lanes is fantastic and very addictive def need a speed trap scanner 😜
awesome title, very appropriate. I really like that phrasing. I just installed an Eisenmann exhaust on my E92 the other day to get that beautiful V8 sound opened up. So amazing. I sold my worked over 135i to buy the E92 for that sound and overall driving experience. Don't regret it for a second. I like the owner in this video. His perspective is spot on. I really appreciate his argument for the convertible (E93). If you have 0 desire to track the car, then you can justify the convertible top. Even with the added weight, on the street I don't think you really care because compared to turbo cars of today, this isn't even that fast. It's not like you're going to be racing straight-line - this car is much more about the overall experience, and breathing with the motor as it climbs the rev range. Love the production value of the video as well guys.
Absolutely one of the best reviews of the E9X generation M3's i've seen to date. My lease recently came up on an F80 LCI M3 and this makes me want to go back in time and experience the V8 E93... Way to go! Instant subscriber. 👏🏽👍🏽
Well done video. I have a 2010 E92 - M3, and you have absolutely nailed the experience of this engineering achievement. Engine of the Year for the 3.0 to 4.0 L category in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012. In 2013, the honors went to the McLaren M838T.. nice company to keep. The E92 M3 with DCT will do 0-60 in a respectable 4.5s. Add intake and downpipes with a tune and you will be making close to 450 hp. This is a 244 CID, double overhead cam, hemi-head, 32 valve engine with 8 individual fuel injection bodies making 100 hp per L.. gotta love it, and thanks for the Vid!
Perfect video. Anson said it perfectly! To every person and what they are looking to get out of the car is different. He got one that best fit him and what he loves. THAT is what being a car enthusiast is about. Fantastic video. Has got me even more interesting in buying one!
man... i love the editing... cant agree more. got the 2013 m3 e93 in alpine white w/ meisterchaft gt2. daily driving it and it puts a smile on my face.
@@ThePatrickBateman69 technically the s65 engine (e9x engine) is based off the s85 (e60 m5). As for reliability (without comparing to the e60), it has been very good. Just your basic maintenance program, got BE rod bearings with ARP bolts replaced, throttle actuators and idle control valve replaced. other then that it hasn't been any issues.
The dude's right, a convertible with a good engine, handling, and a good exhaust is actually much more enjoyable than driving a non-convertible car. I had a blast driving in my SLK200, even though it's not as fast as an M3 convertible, but like the guy said. I can hear and enjoy the exhaust sounds, whilst blaring through the highway.
Just found your channel and wow! just wow! the quality is amazing, incredible cinematography and I enjoy the whole concept around it. I wish you guys the best on your channel I know is going to grow a lot!
I'm mad that the intro of this and the rolling shots are better then any commercial bmws ever made haha. This review was on point keep pushing out that quality content.
Ben & Ben the cinematography is fucking amazing! So on point! You guys are really killing it, I wish there was some way I could help this channel grow, cause god damn it you should have over a million subs! Keep doing what your doing!
I agree with everything in the video. The E93 is very underrated. You buy this car for the experience and if you don't intend to drive it on the track, the convertible is in my opinion the best choice. Yes you can argue about it not being a straight six, which is the classic go-to M enginge. But as being said in the video, they keep on changing the enginge with every generation now since the 2000's. And to be honest, the NA V8 sounds way better then the E46 rather raspy straight six.
In my opinion, E64 M6 is the ultimate M convertible. It weights essentially the same (E93s are HEAVY), yet has even better sound (S85 V10) with more power. Better, more luxurious interior (leather everywhere, HUD, more stylish, better seats etc), vastly bigger trunkspace. And that independent retractable rear window is really cool, when you want to enjoy that V10 scream even with roof and side windows up, on the motorway for example. The SMG is ok, if you're not stuck in traffic all the time. I had a low milage E64 M6 and I still regret selling it. Those roadtrips were unforgettable.
You can't beat a V8! As petrolheads we love all engines, but no matter what the grumble and roar of a V8 is unmatched. German, American, British, it doesn't matter.
just started watching yall's video today, ill have to i'm really impressed with the filming and cutting. it's movie level!! I have never seen anything like this as a car channel. This channel deserves 100 times morefollowers, keep up the good work!!
First off, top notch cinematography and great commentating dudes. Second, I can't agree more with the owner's opinion about owning the convertible for the experience rather than owning a coupe due to the weight deferential. My father, close to retirement, purchased a 2001 Z3M Roadster (with S54M32/ e46 M3 motor) nearly three years ago. I've been fortunate enough to not only learn to drive stick with it, but also take it out on drives by myself. The feeling of the wind, top down, and listening to a wonderful exhaust note is all the argument you need to pick a convertible model over a hard top if you're in the market and on the fence. If you are looking at sports cars and don't intend on winning track races with it, go for the convertible spec because the experience in it trumps that of any hardtop trim. And if you've never driven in a convertible, make it happen. You'll quickly realize that driving slow/ the speed limit with the top down is almost equally as fun as driving (fast) in a hardtop.
You guys need to make an action movie. These shots and this music is fucking amazing together and the production quality looks like something Hollywood would put out. You guys need to go big budget soon.
You guys are unbelievable. After every video I'm left in awe. Please keep it up, you guys are so inspiring to me and I'm sure to many other people if the car community. AWESOME video!
MMW: You guys will hit 500,000 subs by the end of the year. Gears and Gasoline is the best amalgamation of Might Car Mods and Motor Trend ignition style feature. Amazing content! Are any merchs available? Will be glad to support the channel in any way.
Totally agree with the rationale. I have an e46 M3 which I couldnt cope with selling and a modded e90 M3 which works for me. Bought it after driving an F80 back to back. It's that V8 all day long. Intoxicating
Love love love love love your videos guys!!! Deadly cinematography, but my favorite aspect is that you are featuring cars that are attainable and their owners. You clearly ask great questions in the interview piece resulting in great commentary. Keep up the good work! If you ever film in CO, I have an e92 and an s30 in progress. Cheers, good luck, and keep up the stellar work!
I completely agree with you. If you're not going to track the car, why bother with the E90/E92 when the E93 let's you enjoy an amazing convertible experience every day? Sun and fun, furious engine noise.
4:13 = Exactly, its a pig in the back because of the mechanics. But I never listen to the radio and its a terrific manual transmission grand tourer with the tops down mated to an Supersprint F1 Race Exhaust. Pure driving bliss!!!! I will never part with mine...
trust me it's the engine 90%, the aftermarket exhaust is only opening it up a little. Many people with sub par cars think oh yeah : exhaust only because they've never experience a racing engine

Josue Aguilar thanks

Alex Balkcom would’t be so sure about that one chief
You mean that feeling of going backwards at high speed and crashing right? Cuz this is what beemer driver usually do... crashing xD
@Peter Ian Staker try golf then...
The production value in your videos is insane. This is serious next level stuff guys. 🔥🔥
You guys are fucking killing it with cinematography.
Jorden McCallister thanks man!
Seriously, I have no idea how you don't have as many subs as the people you're showing us. This stuff is great.
i am studying cinematography and this shit is what i would idealy produce. Hats down for gears and gasoline.
No one is going to comment about his license plate? "EMFWEE"

well spotted!
You didn't explain it, I would have never gotten it lol
I'm in Sydney Australia and I bought the car .. and got the plate! Thanks for the inspiration Anson ..
Great shots! I have a lot of respect for people that buy the car they want, instead of the car they "should" buy.
